    Thank you! As a retired Paramedic, trying to get away from Healthcare & high stress, I decided to follow my brother's path in woodworking & carpentry. I taught EMT & Paramedic modules at our local community college, so I'm one of those who not only taught, but learn better by practical hands-on. I learned so much more from this video about my purchase of this device than from its instruction manual, I just had to tell you & say thanks! Your presentation makes it appear as if you've taken a semester in Instructor Methodology, a requirement for us 'old' EMS teachers!

    EXCELLENT tutorial, especially for those of us just learning the basics of woodworking. Just what I needed. Thanks!

    Thanks for this overview of the Kreg 720 Pro. You covered all the basics nicely and it helps seeing them in practice with your drilling into a couple of different board sizes. One suggestion: when you showed the line with a circle center mark the 2 second view wasn't near enough time to demonstrate what it should look like. Trying to stop the video on that short frame is challenging too, so it would help to leave that type of shot on screen for 5-6 seconds minimum and maybe even add an arrow to those frames so it's easier to see for anyone not familiar with that added feature.

    My 720 Pro arrived yesterday. Watched quite a few videos before I bought. My husband, a retired carpenter, has one of the original Kregs but I decided for the projects I plan to do this one made sense. Great video. Thank you!

    Really great video. I have had my Kreg 700 for months and have not used it because I didn't quite understand how it all worked. After this video, I went to the shop and got productive. No offense to the Kreg manual, but this was hugely valuable.
    Thanks! And keep'em coming.

    Thanks for the video. I got the 720 a couple weeks ago, and am about to do some projects while on vacation this week. You answered a question I was going to ask about using 2x4s with in the first few minutes. Learned something too, I had no idea 2x4s are actually 1.5x4. I'm very much an amateur, and a new homeowner (1st), so I'll be back to view other videos.

      Actually, a "nominal" size 2x4 is actually 1 1/2 x 3 1/2.

    Thank you for the 2x4 demo. I just got the 720 to assist with my cabinet build and have to make around 50 pocket holes for my stabilizer pieces. I was ready to go get my older Kreg jig because I wasn't sure if the handle had reached its "Travel Limit" for a 1.5 inch piece of wood. Feel much better that I won't break the 720 because it feels a bit more flimsy based on all the plastic housing.

    Great video - you covered everything about it. I just upgraded to the pro a few days ago. A few other people I have watched skipped or left out a few details that you caught, which was nice. I would have liked to seen it being used with longer boards just to see how much a pain it would be, but you did at least mention it so that was good. Thanks for the info.

    • @HousefulofHandmade

      Thank you Ralph. I have the luxury of having multiple kreg options, so I don't typically use the 720 for long boards, I go for my 320.

I wont be upgrading soon but If I didn't like my old K4 so much, you could probably talk me in to it. Pocket joinery is so perfect for face frames especially, and many other applications. Thanks for this.

    Hello, it would be nice to see the numbers on the blue gauge tool, as it lay against the piece of wood you’re using.
    Zooming in would be ideal.

    If you want extras of the new bit, look for the 310 kit. Better deal than just the bit alone. I keep bits with collars set to 3/4 and 1 1/2 so I don't have to adjust them.

    I'm relatively new to using lumber. Now I don't get it. Why say/Call the size of a piece of wood let's say 1x4 when it's really around 3/4 of an inch?

    • @HousefulofHandmade
      @HousefulofHandmade  2 роки тому +1

      🤷‍♀️ is the short answer. I wrote an article helping you understand it though. housefulofhandmade.com/beginners-guide-to-buying-lumber/

      @@Blah-blah-sure That dimension is the rough cut measurement of the board after its sawn, but before it goes through the planing mill. They plane 1/8” off of the wide faces, and 1/4” off the short sides. Lowes was supposedly sued several years ago for deceptive marketing over that, but it’s been the way lumber sizes are given for 100+ years! A couple years ago, and due to that lawsuit, Lowes started putting the nominal and actual sizes on the lumber racks!

    • @Blah-blah-sure
      @Blah-blah-sure Рік тому

      @tomt9543 Aha! That explains it. I knew I wasn't crazy. As a newbie that was really throwing me off. Now I just buy a size up & cut down to the needed dimensions. And, yes too me that is deceptive across the board. Ex. In CT Stew Leonard's " A Dairy/ food store' got in trouble for doing similar weighing meat items.

    Hi, I found it was very difficult to read the markings on the drill bit.

    • @HousefulofHandmade
      @HousefulofHandmade  2 роки тому

      on the drill bit in the video? on the drill bit in person its much easier to read. There isn't a lot of contrast and the bit is shiny which is why it maybe difficult to read on the screen. In the article I wrote its a bit easy to see in the picture. housefulofhandmade.com/how-to-use-kreg-pocket-hole-jig-720/

    How do you decide that you should use the Kreg Jig for your project? Do you use it for all your projects?

    • @HousefulofHandmade
      @HousefulofHandmade  4 роки тому

      I do tend to use pocket holes on most of my projects. I use them instead of trickier woodworking joinery like half laps or mortice and tenons. If I have a butt joint or edge joint, the pocket holes are fast and strong. If I cannot hide the pocket hole easily, I will look at other joining options. Hope this helps!
