My parents showed me this song when I was a kid and I have been looking for the tab online since I first picked up the guitar!
That's so awesome! It's a nice one to play. The last run is a bit of a hard one but it just takes practice. We made sure it was the most accurate transcription possible, as we do with all of our tabs. I hope it helps!
The piece is actually named "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12-24)", and appears on the 1995 'Dead Winter Dead' album by the band Savatage. This Savatage album was one of many produced by the late-great Paul O'Niell - who founded - along with Savatage, the act we know today as Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Great work, by the way!

The music for the carol comes from the song written by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych in 1914.
Just saw them in Atlanta the other night. First time seeing them and the entire performance was mind blowing. Not only are all of the musicians incredible, the show and experience is just something everyone should witness.
I recently saw them for the first time too and I completely agree. They were amazing!
Want to see them but seems like every performance near me is after Christmas which doesn't seem like the appropriate time for a TSO concert...
@@AndyMcKeeFanForLife I get that… but as someone that has seen them, I would go even after Xmas. The show is too good to pass up, even if the whole holiday vibe is a little expired.

I was at a TSO concert on the 11th, the show was fantastic!! They played this song twice, once somewhere around the middle of the setlist, and then even louder and with more improv than usually comes with live performances than the first time at the end of the concert. Tons of fun.

Criss Oliva is criminally underrated. The guitar was an extension of his body for sure. Such a tragic story. We will definitely throw some Savatage in the "to do" pile!
Criss was a dear friend . We all lived over at Cooper's pond many years ago before fame . Tragic loss and the best player I ever jammed with
I went to my first concert ever recently, and it was the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It was amazing.
If you get the chance to see them live, absolutely do it. Incredible live show!

Thanks! Yes it’s a lovely guitar. The wine red finish is super classy. It’s a shame they don’t make them this color anymore (I’m sure you could probably custom order it, but it seems like they only have black and white in their production models).

Wow! I love Trans-Siberian Orchestra and I have gone to between 17 and 20 shows over the years. Out of all the terrific music they make, my single most favorite moment in any of the songs and/or shows is when Al Pitrelli of the West Group holds those guitar high notes...I know nothing about instruments so not sure of the technical name for those. F 22s?

For anyone wondering: You DON'T need a capo on 2nd fret for the intro, you can simply play the 7th fret of the B string (instead of that open high E string note) and it will sound exactly the same 🤘
Not exactly the same as you don’t get the notes all ringing together. (At least that’s what I’m hearing when I listen to the song).

Awesome! What do you think about missing the feel of a real valve amp where the output valves fight the inductance of the valve output transformer which itself is competing with the inductance of the speakers? I guess the future is going to be perfect sound modelling but not real amp response.

I think it does get easier over time. Especially when you get more comfortable with keys and knowing the right notes from the wrong. Also helps to practice technique as much as you can!
Don't look at the tab while you're playing. It forces you to memorize it
