@@vc5917 Luka didn't do any chasing in phoenix because unless he was involved in pick and roll defense he sat corner or his teammates protected him and pre switched. Luka got destroyed in the pick and roll in games 1 and 2. Luka is not conditioned to chase.

Can't slow down Luka when he's already slow (and has a non-NBA tempo). Defense have to adjust for him.
However, GSW can definitely make Luka work on his shots; it will still fall, but he's gonna have to do much more work compared to what he did last round.

I saw something interesting in the last series with the GSW. The high turnovers were a result of Kerr still using the 2014/15 playbook but his squad is now much older. These back door cuts and constant ball movement require extreme athleticism. Because Steph and Klay are older now, a split second slower will cause these turnovers. I’m curious to see how this will play out against Dallas. Excited.

The turnovers are a staple of the Warriors going back ten years. The Grizzlies were uniquely long and generated the most turnovers this past season, and even then it wasn't enough to win. The Mavs won't be able to capitalize on turnovers as much as Memphis.
Dray, Klay, curry were extremely careless when they made lazy half court passes. I don’t think that happens.

I actually think Stephen A. Smith loves Pat Bev on the show. Very cool interview with him on Stephen A.'s World. SAS held his laughter when Pat called CP3 a cone. 🤣 Mavs in 6. Warriors advanced beating injured teams.
He likes him on the show but a guy like Pat Bev, someone who says outlandish things like Stephen A but who has more insight about what goes on in NBA locker rooms etc could be a threat to SAS in the future.
Eventually viewers are going to get tired of Smith. His antics are redundant. His behavior is repetitive and some of the things he says (like Jimmy Butler’s midrange percentage was bad because he missed time due to injury). Someone like Beverly won’t make those mistakes.

As much as the mavs want to hunt Steph on offense for easy buckets I think the warriors will hunt Luka as much trying to get him winded and tired. I think this series will ultimately be up to what surrounds the superstars instead of the stars themselves
hunt with who? Only iso players can hunt. Nobody on Gsw plays that way. Steph can, but if you're using Steph to iso often then you're ruining what makes gsw great.

Except Dallas better defensively than GSW and Luka has size to at least put a body on someone on iso situations whereas Steph is helpless against Dallas big guards without double team. Offensively, Luka doesnt rely heavily on screen and double screen plays, handoffs and switches like steph. Luka can use his size and play to his tempo to create his own shot.

GSW should not be worrying about the D. They just have to minimize their turnovers and get the boards. Way too many firepowers in GSW. The Mavs won't be able to keep up offensively. Only GSW can beat themselves.

Key is to make him work on defence, put him in every pick and roll action and wear him out. Hopefully that leads to less efficiency in his offense down the stretch

Its been shown that wearing luka down on defense is what gives you the best chance. The warriors offense isn't great for a guy like luka to guard since you running around the whole court chasing players.

As bad as Pat Bev is at evaluating players and playing GM, he's good at game planning. Pickup Luka from the jump, don't let him walk up like the Suns did. Switch to Draymond in the 4th, the rest of the game he can roam and play passing lanes. Stay at home on their shooters. Look at the Suns / Mavs. When the guys other than Luka could not go off, game over.

They really did do a number on Luka as you can tell by how his face looked after the game, he got pretty beaten up in that first game. How much of that can Luka take remains to be seen because they are not making it easy for him at all.

Considering literally nobody has slowed Luka down in the playoffs, I'm not so sure I'm on board with the Warriors suddenly being the team to do it...that said, Luka never made it this deep, so maybe he does get a little fatigued? Idk, this series could go either way.
Luka has been playing against adults his whole life tho and won big games he just gotta adjust and be able to power through the fatigue and if anyone can do it on a big stage I’m pretty sure a Slovenian can

The Warriors are known to let the main guy get baskets meanwhile limiting the others. From LeBron to Harden to Ja, those guys always got their points….in losses. Also, Warriors have 3 guys who can give you 30+ points consistently any given night. I can’t say the same for Dallas unfortunately. Spencer and Brunson are real good, but they ain’t Klay at the very least offensively. Steph / Klay / Draymonds resume should speak for itself. And for that, The Warriors peak is higher than The Mavs so The Warriors should be the favorites at least going into this series

The Warriors haven’t won a single game in the Playoffs where the opponent had all 5 starters available for the whole game.
In round 1, the Warriors defeated the depleted Nuggets who didn’t have Murray or MPJ. In round 2, Adams missed 2 games and barely played Game 3. Brooks essentially missed 2 games because of the ejection and suspension. And Morant missed the last 3 games. That’s 3 Grizzly starters that missed multiple games.
I like the idea of past NBA players being analysts but they gotta improve their speaking ability i.e stuttering, articulating thoughts in a concise manner, etc
I rather hear analyst who actually played the game and live it rather than people who never been in the league or don’t know how it feels to play against nba players
