There are clips from a livestream I did with Guy about a month ago. You wouldn't have seen any of these on Sol State's channel. But, Sol State does make some great videos of stream clips :) - JCi
That was wicked, what a GC for running this for the people....could do with some slightly higher res though if this happens again.... struggling to read the screen for the important bits even on the highest setting.
Super good! I’m reworking a late 80s song that originally used all sounds from a Roland XP-30 and this video gave my a dozen awesome ideas. Can’t thank you enough for the inspiration. 😃
You can do this. Just hit record, start mousing the curves, end record, head to recorded view and play. It will show the frequencies change too if you have fab filter on. I'm pretty sure I the vid he uses two of the same plugins one for low and one for high automated freqs.
Hello there. Pre-delay pauses the reverb/delay effect from happening for the set time value of the pre-delay. So, if you have a pre-day set to 30ms, your reverb/delay won't start happening until 31ms, for example. - JC
In one video, guy mentions Oxford limiter is super transparent. I would trust this, he knows his shit...I'm going to download Oxford limiter demo and have a shoot off with pro L 2 to see which gives the best results . I think this is the best way to find out which specific vst will give the best results on the given material. Experiments! 👨💻
Love this Does Guy not know that you could use sample delay in the audio file editor section to make that off-grid effect MUCH easier on himself? That's what i usually do, unless he knows a reason why that might be a worse approach? It makes it so that i never have to worry about alignment when copy/pasting
My guess is because he gets pretty intricate with sample placement and wants to see visually. He's mentioned in other videos I've watched that he likes to obsess over each clap/snare/hat placement for variation, although in this stream he obviously doesn't do it. He very likely came back on a latter session to polish those details.
When you’re layering percussion and elements on top of it you want those layers to be in the same groove. If the original sample is off or swung or anything, it ruins the groove. I believe he could instead align his percussion to the alignment of the sample, but that gets really time consuming and tricky. So it’s just a natural thing to quantize. It’s a remix after all, the kiss of digital quantization and sound design is part of the collaboration
Just my opinion - the quality of the video is irrelevant. The knowledge and skills he is teaching people with respect to music production is fantastic. Influential. Thats where the quality is. Relevance.
The fact that they made 200 odd tracks for an 12 track LP is all the advice I need. 👍🏾
@Strafuzz, can you talk a little more about this? 200 tracks written for one release? OMG
I just want guy hangin around whenever I'm mixing. Life would be so good.
agreed... or just chillen! Super cool, guy - JC
That one tip of off grid goodness made my productions 1000% better. Thanks for reminding me about something i learnt 10 years ago.
The master himself; your videos keep me trying things my man. I can only get better!
nice, some good ideas
Thanks De Ligt for this nice tutorial!
🤣🤣
Before it even begins, let me say "shout out to sol state" :)

This video is great. I got hand clap studio. That thing is a weapon.

This is pure gold!
I agree!! - JC
This Is a great video. I enjoyed it
Gold dust! Thank you so much for sharing.
Excellent!
what is that Monark Bass preset he is using? I cant read , resolution is too low.
Disclosure's "Latch" set the pace for a decade of music. Really intricately well-done song #2010s #Disclosure_Latch

20:01 is it possible to do that on Ableton? Automate with the mouse like that ?
just create an automation for the Pro-Q's frequency and Q knobs
@@UltimateLPCz naa, not the same, I think Noa means like an X - Y axis
@@OfficialMartinB idk, I know very little about ableton, but that's how I'd do it in FL
@@UltimateLPCz you can record automation with a mouse in fl

This is dense hell yeah thank you !
Splendid.

Can someone explain what Predelay does? Also, does the Oxford Limiter have an advantage over the Fabfilter L?

oxford limiter has no advantage over fabfilter L, its just Guy's personal taste in limiter.

is the track out or did he only make it for this video's purpose?
He made it from scratch in the livestream. He might use it in his DJ sets but, to my knowledge, this is not released anywhere. - JC
Logic Pro X is a beast! My work flow is so much faster

Which DAW is he using??
Logic, I believe. - JC
Why its time for a earthquake cam shaking?
Ha, that loose clap sounds like you're shaking a can of spray paint right before you tag some public building.... 😳 But, don't do that!
Wait why is he kind of daddy
I don’t like that he quantizes the feel out of this naturally recorded music... only issue. Otherwise love all these techniques
