My mimic tear is possibly the stupidest A.I I've ever seen in my life. One time I was using a seal and the mimic only used a fortification spell 5 times while I was getting my ass beaten by this boss. Then, I took off the seal and it started two handing the sword I had instead of using magic. I took off the sword and now the mimic is PUNCHING the boss without casting a single spell. I'm going to try to use a shield now.
ah, I am glad my mimic isn't the only one with severe dementia. Seriously my mimic will cast 5 Terra Magicus in a row ( spell that casts sigil on the ground ) and then he'll dip from the fight like a goldfish 😂
A good tip I suggest to anyone having a hard time is put shabriris woe talisman on and a great shield (if you have the stats for it) and summon your mimic tear. Then after summoning immediately remove the talisman from yourself. Radagon will then focus all his aggro on your mimic allowing yourself to comet azur him dead super fast.
All of this whilst in the midst of Radagon. Seems like a death wish. Against the snake it could be done because the arena was bigger and I had time to run and hide first...
Assuming you're a decently levelled/geared mage; once you summon your spirit run away and once aggro switches, prep for Comet Azur, you should have enough time - you just need to time it so that he doesn't jump before your beam launches - you need to repeat maybe a couple of times while avoiding a few attacks. Rock Sling spam is key against the Elden Beast. It didn't happen often in this video, but you can break it's poise very quick with this spell which allows you to flask up and use continuous damage spells. I no joke beat it in 2 tries after swapping it in - it was that useful. The amount of time you get while it's staggered is a life saver. Good luck
I'm using black tiche and struggling massively. Funnily enough I switched back to the 5 greatshield soldiers and destroyed radagon. Elden beast then immediately 1 shot me lol
So i killed the boss just now and tried many spell builds to defeat him. What worked best for me and made it easy was this : First phase : cast Ranni's Dark Moon twice when he's attacking your mimic. This way your mimic will have at least half of it's hp left for the second phase. Second phase : cast Meteorite Of Astel when the boss is standing still and not focusing you. And use your flask with magic damage boost on one of them. 3 full casts is enough to take it down. Good Luck ;)
I just beat them today with my own mage build. After doing so and actually searching for this video for and way to improve my strategy I just want to let everyone this is a real achievement. Playing mage against these two is extremely difficult. I added an extra three hours to my play time with them alone. I tried so many different strategies. Eventually I got it but not easily at all. Absolute respect for Arzik your incredible for being able to do this.

Out of curiosity, why is a mage build harder here? Is it because you can’t put too many runes into strength so you’re automatically weaker? Or because mages work better at a distance but these bosses’ ranged attacks are too strong? I’m literally at the door to this fight and I’m a mage.
Thankyou. The right way of doing it without any gimmicks will always work. Wasted 40+ attempts trying to get behind the beast to setup the perfect one-shot. Even went back & levelled the skeleton soldiers to max as recommended but they got trucked. My advice for now, don't be scared to get close enough in front of the beast for your attacks to actually hit. Dodge the sword swipes & run sideways for the ranged attacks. Use your preferred ranged spell. Once your attacks actually hit him, he goes down surprisingly quickly. Can blow your azurs comet on Radagon for a quick phase 1 since it's hard to get a full hit on the beast.
That was a thing of beauty. I'm trying on this dude but I've resorted to getting a few more levels then coming back. Not one of these one shot bosses, actual being the boss yourself.
Even when the video was uploaded 3 months ago, it seems to come from a very old testing version of the game, the elden beast what appear in the video moves and cast like a anesthetized puppet and the massive damage received is totally unrealistic compared with the 1.05 Elden Beast, if this video once worked, in no way anymore. There is no way the actual Mimic tear survives so long in the newest version of the game.
