Thank you, Sir, for taking the time to demonstrate how to do cross hatching and for not speeding up the video. I will practice the technique and try it out. Cheers! ✏👍
best tutorial ever... every other tutorial says do shading which is very hard for noob like me to do . this hatching and cross hatching makes shading a lot easier. thank you grandpa.
You are good pedagogue Sir ! So relaxing. When 5-10 mn to loose : one or two lines of cress-hetching. Settle a "thanks". If i see results in my drawings, i tip with pleasure ! A good teacher has great value.
When you said "zoom out" and i zoomed out, i got to see one of the best results i had with cross hatching Thanks a lot sir! You were really the first person to teach me stuff in a well organised and efficient manner. It was as if i were in a classroom with you and several other students Really loved it sir and thanks again
best tutorial ever every other tutorial says do shading which is very hard for a noob like me to do . this hatching and cross hatching makes shading a lot easier tysm
I searched through 100 videos on youtube how to cross hatch and none of them mentioned you had to do individual strokes those stupid fools kept fast forwarding the video and it looked like they were scribbling lines back and forth. No wonder I couldn't get it up until now THANKS!!! This is the only video that explains it properly
Thank you for taking the time to teach us. I always admire the crosshatching lines from pencil artists. Now I know what to do :) I’m gonna start practicing Thanks fir the tips They are valuable 😊
...i had come up to do some more practice. I was so sad... i really couldn't get my head around cross hatching I did so much work to understand... how to? what to? when to? and voila!!!! you are an ace man... you are a hero, man... thank you! thank you.! thank you! ::::::))))))))))) amazing
Hallo, I somehow just learned how to somewhat do hatchings and cross hatchings and I am inlove with it! So this really help, thank you! Have a wonderful day!
4:40 when you half close your eyes and start to see things blurry you will actually see that the shading levels actually match his crosshatching you are so skilled sir keep up the good work!!
This was very helpful, 10/10 best I've found yet. His voice is soothing to those with issues having to do with wanting to make everything perfect (like myself) he even reassures that it's okay to make small mistakes. Sir, keep doing what you do because you're very good at it.
What an amazing tutorial, so easy to follow along. I love that he starts right from the basics and builds up to a reasonable yet effective application. Also the way he talks is so friendly and encouraging! Cross hatching seems so weird as you're doing it, but gives such an interesting result.
Your tutorial stands out from most tutorials as you complete it in real time which for someone who struggles with drawing like myself finds it very beneficial, thank you so much. I've subscribed in an instant. Keep safe...
I really love this. Been in love with crosshatching since reading “WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE” as a kid. I used to stare at the pictures in admiration. Such an attractive technique and I can’t wait to try. Thanks for breaking it down so well. ☺️
@@PaintBasket I tried a chess pawn last night from memory of your instructions and I was very pleased with the results. I will try again with your tutorial. Best breakdown of the process on UA-cam!

First Video in Search About Cross Hatching and It already Helped me Alot. Subscribed to this amazing Channel and Looking forward to learning more from an Amazing Teacher 🤩
This lesson gave me some seriously helpful advice other videos just didn’t have and went way more in depth explaining what was actually happening on the paper, thank you for this!!
I'm in high school art and this helped me learn cross hatching a lot better than in class hahahah. it's a very cool technique tho I think I'm gonna keep trying it
John Ruskin the great art and and architecture critic of Victorian England was also a master draftsman with a deep interestest in teaching drawing. He founded a drawing school and these exact excercises... progressive hatches and gradients were considered fundmental. If I'm not mistaken he also stressed the importance of being able to prpduce long (as if ruled) straight lines and regular arcs and *gulp* very clean ellipses and circles.
Awesome tutorial, even if you've never drawn before its helpful to see how something so simple can b eefficent use of your lines, instead of smuding scratches it makes a huge diffference being a single strand but crossed
i am smilling the whole video he so sweet xD This video really help me so much and help me how to do crosshatching and the best part is i am having fun!! Thanks for the tutorial
This is incredibly useful. Finally, a detailed explanation of cross-hatching and exercises that go with it. Would you please increase the gain for your next recording? I have shitty computer speakers, can't wear head phones at the moment and can barely hear you. Thank you for this though!
Thank you sir! I was totally clueless about hatching but now I have a little bit of understanding... I'll practice more and try to improve :) This video helped a lot ✨😊
I am new to art, and I found this video very useful and easy to understand. Thank you so much sir for making this. BTW, I bought many pencils like 5B, 8B, etc. Is there any video that talks about when to use 5B or 8B? Thank you.
I'm late, but 8B is used for smooth shading, not hatching 8B will give you a very blunt/smooth and dark line Whilst 8H will give you you a very sharp and dark line With these blunt/smooth pencils you can smudge(rub your finger/cloth on your shading and create a bit of gradient)
I've been learning about lighting and values and wanted to learn how to cross hatch. Lovely tutorial sir! I'll check out the rest of your channel, you're an excellent teacher because this was easy to understand and follow along to!
