    Great video and super helpful for my first Sambar hunt this year. Any unique suggestions or differences in the location you might choose for Sambar? Not seen many videos of guys that were successful! Thanks again for taking the time to help the rest of us!

    Thank you for the helpful video. You made a reference to Miami if using a kayak and the current being strong. I'm a Miamian and mostly hunt the big cypress but looking to get a hog or deer at St. Vincent island while trying to learn the area well enough to score on a sambar. Great video.

    My buddy and I met you at the pass campground for the hunt a few years ago. You gave me you number and we talked about hunting Hilochee WMA. We were gonna go to St Vincent in January but backed out of the hunt because of weather forecast looking scary. We did the October hunt in 2019 and got caught off guard by a front moving thru so we don't want to chance it anymore.

      I agree it looks alot like blackbeard except B/B had showers and hanging cooler and they drove around to pick up game on road. But St. vincent alot closer to mainland.

    How many points does it usually take to draw the Muzzleloader Sambar Deer hunt? I have 2 points and am hoping to draw next year. Note: I have the worst luck in drawing hunts in Florida. Usually, it takes me twice what it does anyone else.

    Hey man, sweet video. I finally drew a sambar tag after a few years of applying. I was just wondering, are permit holders allowed to bring nonhunting guests? I've never been up there and would feel more comfortable if I could bring a buddy to share camp with, but i've read that only permitted hunters are allowed on the island. Am I reading that right, and if so How strictly is it enforced? Thanks brother.

    • @911bowhunter
      @911bowhunter 3 роки тому +1

      Hey bud that’s awesome you got a tag congratulations but as for bringing a guest on to the island it’s not allowed only 1 person per tag. you can have someone help you crossover but that’s about it. It is a lot of work especially with a huge Sambar but the staff on the island will help you ounce you get one down. They are very helpful and down to earth. Good luck bud hope you get a giant. It’s a beautiful place and awesome hunt.

    • @stayxtreme
      @stayxtreme  3 роки тому +2

    I drew the Sambar hunt this year. Thinking about biking the island Saturday. Looks similar to the terrain I hunt in Guana river. Trying to decide between taking my 20’ alumacraft or 14’ stumpnocker. Any suggestions?

    • @stayxtreme
      @stayxtreme  3 роки тому +1

      Congrats Jessie!!! Either boat is fine. It really depends on the amount of gear you are taking and whether you camp on the island. We usually stay in a hotel or Airbnb land side and commute every morning and evening. We do the cross in the Jon boat and it works just fine.

    • @jessiehowell675
      @jessiehowell675 3 роки тому

      I will probably camp too lazy to keep crossing but I will travel light. I’m notorious for hunting as far as I can walk. Probably take the stumpnocker and beach it with the pvc trick.

      I made it out there to check out the place last Monday the roads were all covered in water but I actually saw a sambar (hind) and a whitetail buck. Drove five hours there biked five hours and drove five hours back. Exhausting!

    So I had a hunt there for sambar last year and am really interested in going back for the whitetail hunt in addition to any time I get selected for Sambar. Do you think I can make the pass in a 16ft Carolina skiff? I chartered a ride over for the sambar hunt but I feel like if the weather is not terrible and I bring some pvc to roll the boat on shore a bit, it would be great

    • @stayxtreme
      @stayxtreme  3 роки тому

      forsure a 16’ would be perfect for the job. we do it on a 14’ johnboat with no problem. the east camp is much safer and closer with less risk of weather changes. how did you do on your sambar hunt?
