My wife and I met 51 years ago..at a band practice. She was the singer. During a break I picked up a guitar and played Felicianos version of Light My Fire. We married 10 months later. 50 years later…kids, mortgages and life she’s recently been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer. Our time together is limited. When she falls behind…I will wait for her.
My father listened to Bruce Springsteen every.single.day, blasting his music in our home for decades. Last spring he fell into a coma, and everyday we softly played Bruce for him in the hospital. Unfortunately he passed last April, but every time I hear these songs, its eases the pain and reminds me of such fond memories of him. Thank you Bruce for bringing such joy into my father's life.
My wife just passed last night at 7pm and I'm not able to sleep right now. It's been almost 19 years since I haven't slept next to that beautiful woman who gave me herself to me and gave me a beautiful daughter. She gave me all of herself and knew me better than I knew myself. I was able to whisper into her ear last night everything I wanted to say to her and so did our child. As we left the hospice house I knew it was going to be the last time we would see her. I know she will wait for me. I'll never forget you my beautiful wife. You only find true love once in a lifetime and we had that. I'm at a loss right now 😭

I love this song . I also loved hearing Clarence sing. He had a beautiful voice. I never heard him sing. He is truly missed. I enjoyed the E Street band contributing on this version of such a beautiful song. Thank you all
Clarence had a hit single in 1985-86 with a duet with Jackson Browne, "You're a Friend of Mine." Springsteen was at his peak of popularity then, and a rising tide was lifting all boats.
This song reminds me of my beautiful sister who died way too young of cancer...she was the heart of our family......I miss her today and always...it's just such a beautiful song...I never tire of hearing it....and it always makes me cry...
I was in a coma after a fall and brain surgery. A nurse asked my husband who was favorite singer. Of course, he said Bruce. She brought in cds and played them for me. That may have helped to support my recovery. I am home now in WVa and doing well. We have even taken in his concert near Philly since then.
In the last two or three decades, Springsteen's work sometimes feels more like prayers, hymns, or parables than mainstream rock songs. This song, Land Of Hopes And Dreams, The Rising, Atlantic City, Empty Sky, American Skin (41 Shots) -- these are deeply moving and spiritual.

Whose watching and listening to this beautiful music on November 17,2019? I remember back in high school,my writer’s craft teacher always play this song every single day. We all sat and had 5 minutes of silence while enjoying this. I miss those times
I absolutely love this song. It makes me feel teary eyed. Been ages since I've listened to this gemstone of a song. This song is so achingly perfect. It encapsulates emotion, sorrow, fragile hope, in a brief moment in time. We all lose our way and falter but take heart in the light, wherever it shines. Healing, love, and self improvement to the world.
I find this song when I wish I had someone to wait for me, and when I want to listen to the most beautiful sax solo I've ever heard, which makes all of these comments as moving as this incredible song.
This song sweetly breaks my heart. I lost the love of my life in the Vietnam War and I'm still am trying to catch up. I so hope he is waiting for me. It is a beautiful song and the people singing it are beyond great. Every line and every face are awesome. Thanks Boss. Joyce trying to catch up.
'I'm sitting beside my love of 53 years in his last hours. I'm playing "our" songs (of which there are many) for him and kissing his head and rubbing his shoulders. He woke up briefly when this came on. Thank you, Bruce & Co. Tell Clarence that Ken's coming soon. . . and we say Thank You for all the good times.
My only Bruce concert, my nephew and I made a huge banner with this song title and a pic of Bruce and Clarence. He didn't play it but when the band came forward for their applause Jake and Bruce pointed at us and chest thumped. Made me cry.
We said we'd walk together baby come what may That come the twilight should we lose our way If as we're walking a hand should slip free I'll wait for you And should I fall behind Wait for me We swore we'd travel darlin' side by side We'd help each other stay in stride But each lover's steps fall so differently But I'll wait for you And if I should fall behind Wait for me Now everyone dreams of love lasting and true Oh, but you and I know what this world can do So let's make our steps clear that the other may see I'll wait for you And if I should fall behind Wait for me Now there's a beautiful river in the valley ahead There 'neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees I'll wait for you Should I fall behind Wait for me Darlin' I'll wait for you Should I fall behind Wait for me Yeah, I'll wait for you Should I fall behind Wait for me I'll wait for you Should I fall behind Wait for me
Beautiful, poignant expression of one our deepest longings and needs in this life, to find a partner, a friend, someone who will make this pact with us, sincerely, authentically, and then keep true to each other throughout this journey. Thanks Bruce and the band...
What we all dream of that true connection, with another soul, when words need not spoken, it’s rare but it’s there for everyone if you take the time to listen with silent eyes and open heart . If I should fall behind I’ll wait for you

Uncle Harry, you became an Angel today. Thank you for raising me when mommy died. You 2 were born 11 months apart, truly best friends. I love you. Rest now. Go💜 with Grandma, Grandpa & Mom
What a beautiful collaboration. Years ago, I had regular eight-hour drives through Colorado for work and I would also throw in some Springsteen CDs a couple of times and this song was always one of my absolute favorites. It's just a lovely (man, did I use that word?) song.
Ha, and I've caught myself using it, typing it that is, and thinking the same, man am I'm old lmao, can't imagine actually saying it aloud, as of yet lol
Watched his Madison Square Garden concert from 2009 on TV last night and he ended with this most beautiful of all songs. Will be played when I leave this earth.

This just replaced "I'm on Fire" as my favorite Bruce/E Street Band song. The complement of different singers really make it special. Clarence one the saxophone puts it on a whole nother level
Went to MSG for their reunion concert. When they did this song it brought tears to my eyes. Each member brought emotion to the lyrics and performance. RIP Big Man.
If you are not completely moved by this then you are made of stone. I love music, all types, however I have never in my whole life come across so much emotion in a song before. Beautiful
I loosely divide songs in to a few categories ...... ones to sing to, ones to dance to and one to cry to ........ this just hit my number one in a new category .... songs to share the beauty of
That’s the most beautiful rendition of that song I ever heard Bruce & Co. sing. Absolute perfection. I had tears in my eyes as I listened, really listened, to the lyrics.
The group dynamic and blatant SOUL of the band members is stunningly beautiful and I can only imagine the feeling Bruce and Patti share, PERIOD, but especially during this performance, how awesome it must be to share and participate in the making of music like this with the person who you share your life with. Outstanding. All band members are stunning

I love this so much. I was never expecting Nils to sound so beautiful x
Breathtaking, only tears....
I find this song when I wish I had someone to wait for me, and when I want to listen to the most beautiful sax solo I've ever heard, which makes all of these comments as moving as this incredible song.
In 2012 our son played guitar solo while younger brother sang this at his own wedding. The best song of Bruce's chosen by all.
I LOVE THIS SONG !!!! BUT I JUST HEARD IT YESTERDAY !!!! I'M GLAD CLARENCE WAS IN THESE THIS !!!! AMEN !!!!
Unbelievable emotion for one of my favourite Springsteen Songs.
Dear Patch you were blessed to have 53 years
@@allanwilliams1814 Believe me, I know how very lucky I have been. No sorrow, jusr gratitude.
My only Bruce concert, my nephew and I made a huge banner with this song title and a pic of Bruce and Clarence. He didn't play it but when the band came forward for their applause Jake and Bruce pointed at us and chest thumped. Made me cry.
GOD, I love this man, his voice and everything about his kind soul...Forever THE BOSS
stunningly beautiful, a love song that touches even the coldest heart.
We said we'd walk together baby come what may
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walking a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
We swore we'd travel darlin' side by side
We'd help each other stay in stride
But each lover's steps fall so differently
But I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me
Now everyone dreams of love lasting and true
Oh, but you and I know what this world can do
So let's make our steps clear that the other may see
I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me
Now there's a beautiful river in the valley ahead
There 'neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed
Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees
I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
Darlin' I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
Yeah, I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me
Beautiful, poignant expression of one our deepest longings and needs in this life, to find a partner, a friend, someone who will make this pact with us, sincerely, authentically, and then keep true to each other throughout this journey. Thanks Bruce and the band...
hard to argue with you Jim...
well put, Jim...
jim you put this so well into words
what you wrote makes this song even more special.
instead of one who takes the piss
Nils Lofgren is amazing in this... he steals the show
What we all dream of that true connection, with another soul, when words need not spoken, it’s rare but it’s there for everyone if you take the time to listen with silent eyes and open heart . If I should fall behind I’ll wait for you
This song makes me cry .... EVERY.SINGLE.TIME
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard....So much love in this song.…..made my eyes tear...."thank-you" Bruce Springsteen....you are truly a gem!
Thank you Simply Marilyn........reading what you wrote as I listened to this song made me give in and let the tears come.
This is right up there with The Beatles, Let it Be. Such a moving, powerful, yet simple song that stirs me to my soul.
Uncle Harry, you became an Angel today. Thank you for raising me when mommy died. You 2 were born 11 months apart, truly best friends. I love you. Rest now. Go💜 with Grandma, Grandpa & Mom
I love you dad. This is your song rip
What a beautiful collaboration. Years ago, I had regular eight-hour drives through Colorado for work and I would also throw in some Springsteen CDs a couple of times and this song was always one of my absolute favorites. It's just a lovely (man, did I use that word?) song.
Ha, and I've caught myself using it, typing it that is, and thinking the same, man am I'm old lmao, can't imagine actually saying it aloud, as of yet lol
some songs can bring a tear to my eye...this one just makes me cry, it's so damn special.
If all the world would take this song to heart it could change it for the good of all.
amen!!
Speechless..astonishing performance by all.
How can you not love this
Watched his Madison Square Garden concert from 2009 on TV last night and he ended with this most beautiful of all songs. Will be played when I leave this earth.
+Debbie Dancer that version of this song breaks me down... so amazing
So I've been listening to Bruce Springsteen videos for the past hundred years or so. Why have I just now found this one? Brings tears.
My sister read this to us at our wedding this month, it was so emotional. The lyrics are gorgeous in their simple message. I love this version. Nils has the voice of an angel!
This song broke my heart as I travelled by train from Scotland to London to to see my brother for the very last time . Beautiful beautiful song by bruce and friends . Rip Simon (sieomen) Coleman x
We had this sung during our wedding ceremony. Means as much now as it did 15 years ago. Miss you Clarence.
This song gathers resonance as you age.... we all gather reference points as we go along. A little bit of soul-touching genius from The Boss. RIP Clarence.
Right to the heart. Cried.
There is more to this than meets the eye
I love this song, and this is the most poignant and meaningful version. A love song for true friends.
Nils Lofgren: voice of an angel
And face of a gargoyle.
" payed "..?
Get an education before you attempt to be smart!
but still he accomplished more in live than you did!
A Conneely, please do me the honour of shutting the fuck up!
You are such a creep
If you are not completely moved by this then you are made of stone. I love music, all types, however I have never in my whole life come across so much emotion in a song before. Beautiful
That beautiful saxaphone, the expression on Clarence's face, and the gentle voice of this giant of a man, simply makes my cry.
I love this all so much but the Nils voice really guts me!
Well, Damn. Never heard this before.
I'll be right back...
so sweet you sre
The group dynamic and blatant SOUL of the band members is stunningly beautiful and I can only imagine the feeling Bruce and Patti share, PERIOD, but especially during this performance, how awesome it must be to share and participate in the making of music like this with the person who you share your life with. Outstanding. All band members are stunning
My mother passed away in May after my parents being together for 50 years. He spent 2 tours in Vietnam
This was on her prayer card
this song has so much grace and strength, it will be around a long time and always ahead of us
