I see the other comments and dude you really do have a gift. Excellent, clear communication skills I watched a few videos now and agree with the others that see this. Good job man. The graphics are just ride as well clear and not overdone.
Thank you so much, Luca! I'm using a Head Speed Mp Legend 2024 strung with Head Lynx Tour 1.20mm black. As you mentioned, the best combination that I EVER tried. Lynx Tour makes the Speed play almost like a pro staff, everything is tight, massive control and precision, I didn't felt almost no inconsistency. I put the ball wherever I wanted in every single shot, without sacrificing the natural spin and power of the racquet. The launch angle of the ball was very controlled too. It is a dream combo. You are the best reviewer!
Great vid. Would be good to get a future video of polys that have the best tension maintenance. I think tension maintenance is an under-rated spec for rec players who don’t have time to get thier racquets restrung constantly. I know guts and multis are much better in this area, but I’d still like a vid on polys
I like Luxilon Gut + 4G Soft. Crisp, control orientated with decent power and spin. Good feel, directionally super precise. Much better tension maintenance compared to Alu Power. Massively underrated (only because its a bit expensive).
Good shout regarding the natural gut / poly hybrid. Di Minaur uses gut / 4G Rough at 21kg (Rotterdam Open). Too low a tension for me, but I think that sort of combo would work well.
Ok. Mate you are great. You are so spot on. I have the same specific feel with wasabi. I don’t like shaped strings in general but wasabi despite being shaped it plays closer to a soft round string. It’s very smooth on contact. It’s not aggressive on byte like those ultra shaped solinco strings…. it’s soft and plush. Despite being a little bit muted it offers great predictability and control. This string has amazed me the most from toroline and more than wasabi pro and enso pro and k pop which i didnt like it much because of its firm/stiff response. Wasabi is great. The hype is real. And i know what i am talking about cause my main string is 4G ❤
Thank you for a great video as always! I'm having a little dilemma regarding my new racket - I've been playing tennis for 8-9 months and a few months ago I bought Babolat Pure Aero 2023. Sometimes I really enjoy its power and spin but other times I had a feeling that maybe something with more control and feel will be better to me so I've tested out around 15 rackets this week from all brands and my favourite ones were Head Speed MP (great bh&fh, but not much power while serving), Speed Pro (great power at serving but couldn't control my bh&fhs like with the MP, my groundstokes basically couln't stop flying and kept ending up way behind the line), Gravity MP (I really liked that one too, it has more power while serving but I liked bh&fhs more with Speed) Gravity Tour (I liked the MP more) and Pure Drive 98 (great bh&fh, no power while serving). So actually today I've already purchased Speed MP Legend as I really enjoyed playing forehands and backhand using it but I would love it to have more power while serving like Speed Pro or my Aero 100 2023. Could you recommend any string from whatever manufacturer that would increase the power on serves without loosing control and feel on bh&fhs? And not sure if it's wise but maybe I'll also buy the Gravity MP as it was very close to Speed MP, I definitely liked serves using it more that with Speed, and if I decided to buy it too - do you think if I customize it to make it eg. 10g heavier would that make forehands and backhands as good as with Speed MP + with that additional power on serves? Thanks in advance for your help :)
I love Tourna silver 7 tour on BP. Willing to try gut in main, any suggestion for cross? Heard good comments on kirshbaum max Power. Luca as usual clear and honest reviewer.
My Vcore Pro 97D has a full bed Wilson natural gut and I love it. Tension 58lb. Spin is not bad at all. The path of the swing defines the spin more than anything else.
Another great video Luca. Please keep up with string content as I can’t afford to replace my racquet very often (Plus I love my Ezone 100) but strings are fun to play around with. Will you be getting the new Toroline O Toro string. I agree I like Wasabi for massive spin and soft feel, and Cavier for firmer feel but good control, spin and power. Maybe O toro is in between? I have to admit though I like the muted dampened feel, but I do like a solid sound, and Wasabi is a bit plasticy as you say.
Your preference and stated experience on the strings mentioned match almost exactly with my own preferences/experiences (like for example the hyper g inconsistency)...maybe I'll try out the wasabi string.
Love my Lynx Tour-dabbled with all sorts of strings but they're just super solid. I also feel like they play decent until just before they break, which is a major perk over other strings (like HyperG and Cyclone, which get really bad well before they break). Have been enjoying messing around with hybrid setups, keeping the mains the same and going for slick and round crosses for feel and control.
Love lynx tour, currently comparing it to solinco revolution I have tried gut in mains with lynx tour in cross and the lynx saws into the gut to quickly, but with Alu power it lasts so much longer
Top class as always Luca, well done. Did you get to try grapplesnake tour sniper and m8? Tencom looks like he really love it. I heard from alot of source that lynx tour is a heavy string weight wise, will it change the swingweight or balance significantly or people wont feel it?
Head Lynx Tour squad hyyype! I do find the orange looking better than champagne, looks straight 🔥in black frames like ProStaff 97v13 and also in Ezone and Vcores.
It's such a weird string for me; sometimes I like it sometimes I hate it. I haven't dialled it in quite yet but it's so unique that if it works for you that's awesome.
I love the Head Lynx Tour, is one of my favorites strings, together with Solinco Hyper G.... the next move is to try Gut + Head Lynx Tour, and i will do that in my new Gravity Pro that's is about to arrive! Anxious about it hehe... btw, your videos are the best, keep doing this work!
What strings would you personally put on a Gravity Pro? I really liked the look of the orange ones you used in your Head Racket Rundown video, but it sounds like you might prefer something different from that based on what you are saying here.
Very informative review. Curious to know how Hyper-G SOFT and Tour Bite SOFT would compare. In fact, how would you rank these best selling strings - Hyper-G, Hyper-G Soft, Tour Bite Soft, and Volkl Cyclone (especially in the areas of SPIN and POCKETING)?
I wanted your suggestion on the best Solinco poly string set up for someone who puts a premium on pocketing and feel and still wants good spin and control. I am currently playing exclusively doubles with a Babolat Pure Aero - so a set-up that compliments that racquet string pattern and stiffness would be ideal. I am not opposed to using thinner gauge polys or poly hybrids to get the desired playability. I tend to like to play at lower tensions to open up the sweetspot and increase ball feel. I am currently bouncing back and forth between a full bed of Tour Bite Soft 18; Hyper-G 19; and Hyper-G soft 17 - all strung at 40 lbs. Is there another string or hybrid you think I should try? What would you personally recommend?
I use Hyper G, which I do like, but you're right that it can be a bit inconsistent at time. Next I will try Hyper G regular mains / Hyper G round crosses, to see if the response is a bit more consistent.
Just to report that this set-up worked quite well for me. But I have since moved on to Lynx Tour (black), which is basically a more consistent version of Hyper G.
Luca, great review. I agree with you with Gut/Poly. What tension do you use? When I used 98inch I used to have 53 gut mains and 50 poly cross. With all those setups whats the tension for your sticks? do you use dynamic tension? Also how will you get close to Gut/Poly with Multi/Poly or Synth Gut/Poly? Actually that will be a good video to do... with hybrid setup.
If it's a 100, I usually go 57/55 - drop one if it's an 18x20. With 98s, 55/53 same deal with the 18x20s. I will try some hybrids one day but from the ones I've tested so far, nothing comes anywhere near, IMO.
Ah, natural gut and Alu rough, the Federer and Djokovic set up! You’re in good company. What polly would you suggest to pair with Alu rough in a radical mp? Also, definitely yes to the racket string pair video!! Include the radical mp on that list.
I much prefer the feel of gut mains and I don't think there's a marked difference in spin. I just lose a bit of that gut feel when they are in the crosses and they break a lot quicker.
Thank you! You CAN but you'll miss out on a lot of the gut's unique feel and playability. You can get a little closer with a soft multi like Wilson NXT.
Thank you Luca for making this video about strings. It helps me a lot as I am still figuring which strings to try or stick to. Btw, it is not related to the video but do you have any recommendations for wide and flat feet. I try Asics Gel Resolution Wide 2E version and I still experience some discomfort in the area around the arch (middle of the foot) after 20-30 minutes of running continuously around the court.
Hey Luca, thx for the great Video. I Play the Pure Aero and i want to try Natural gut with Alu Power rough. I usually string my rackets with Völkl Cyclone with 56.2 pounds. What string tension would you recommend for the combination Gut/Alu Power Rough?
Great Video. Was going to restring with Alu power but now I’m not so sure. Do you think Head Lynx Tour would work well in Ezone 98? What tension would you recommend?
Absolutely nailed the Luxilon Alu Power description! I enjoyed 4G MUCH more, but only on an 18*20 V5 Blade. Played it again months later with a "Tweener" and was just "meh".
Hi Luca, in a hybrid setup why not the poly on the mains and natural gut in the crosses? My guess Is that you could gain spin potential and keep the feel of gut. What do you think?
I'd love to see a review of reString ZERO and SYNC as a hybrid... I've been playing ZERO for a while now, it gives great access to spin, but might be a bit lively and uncontrolled sometimes. My hypothesis is, that SYNC in the crosses should round up the feel while having the same snap-back and durability as you have with a full bed of ZERO... would love to hear your opinion and ideally live experience ;-)
Hey Luca - I've had a question about natural gut hybrids for awhile now. Can you continue to play with them after the poly crosses go dead? How much of a drop off is there after say 10 hours or so? Thanks so much for the great content.
I remember saying earlier in a vid I use a pro staff. V11 too. What strings do you prefer on classic rackets? Any recommendations? I’ve gotten the gist of how rackets work and feel but never really experimented with strings. If it helps I use Wilson revolve spin now and sometimes it can feel dead but other times I’ve liked it a lot. I have a very flat forehand too. Use very little topspin
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver ok perfect thank u sm. I don’t use much spin so the revolve spin doesn’t really do much for me. And I want to drop the tension too
Hey Luca, I feel like I share the same taste in strings as you, I'm using the graphene touch speed mp 2017 (Sinner's mold) , do you have any recommendations for strings on it? also when you said "bite" with the hyper g, is that feeling like dwell time on the racket? Is the feel on hyper g also good or not really.
It's more like an extra sensation of grip over the ball so just a slightly higher launch angle. I really like Hawk Touch in that one actually - basically Sinner's setup at a lower tension and lower swingweight.
which company natural gut you prefer on mains , is it wilson? may I know what is the tension you are using.. your first choice is my first choice too..Natural gut is so good for arm.
Hi Luka! Can you please recommend couple of rackets for ntrp player 3.0, going to 3.5 My thoughts, 98 is a little bit small sweet spot for my skills right now, at other side I don’t want to change the racket too often. May be it’s time to change to 98, and improve technique? Or don’t be hurry and play with 100.. Now I’m playing Babolat pure aero team 2017 . 300 gram / 100 I’m 185 cm height, 95 kilos Tennis experience- 1 year (current ntrp 3.0) Thank you! Appreciate for your feedback!
Hey Lucas im currently using a gravity mp beefed up at 338 and i love to rip every ball Lemme know which one would you recommend me to use Currently im using lynx tour 1.30 at 54
I use yonex poly tour pro in my ezone 100, but its getting boring after few weeks. Will switching to head lynx tour make it more controlled and better feel. Appreciate the feedback
I think that's a great idea. I went through the same thing with Poly Tour Pro - kept using it in Yonex rackets and the feel was so mushy that I got bored. Lynx Tour will definitely liven things up on contact and will add a bit of spin as well.
Only draw back of natural gut other than it is expensive is that it notches pretty quick and if you play on clay it looses some of its playability even quicker. Otherwise I would agree that it’s the best coupled with Alu power rough
have you tried restring zero? the original? its a new company that makes strings with crazy snap back, and known from its original, not its new one right now yet maybe its great aswell. You should try it!
What do you think of the normal Head Lynx - not tour ? I’ve heard it’s more Allrounded than the lynx tour. Tour has more controll & spin but normal lynx has more power & touch. Im a 3.0-3.5 33yo male with head speed mp 2024 Currently using the lynx in yellow 1.20 in 24/23kg Im searching for a good Allrounder string and im NOT a string ripper. (Actually never ever ripped a string 🤣) Maybe some string which holds tension better than normal lynx (it’s like 10-15 hours with my force of hitting)
I do like Head Lynx Tour but at this point I find it a bit "standard". There are better polys now that have more spin/power/feel. It is one of the best all-arounders though so definitely give it a shot.
I'm a 4.0 with minor wrist and elbow issues (both from lifting grocery bags, not tennis). I'd love to see you review tennis strings for players at my level and below. What level are you, by the way? Most reviewers are very good players and don't always speak to players of lesser rating. You do. This video doesn't help me as it's clearly for higher level players. I understand. I play tested a Percept 97 recently and loved it. I ordered two from my local tennis shop. I like a 5/8 grip, so they had to be ordered. The demo had a poly of some kind in it, which I loved. I'm afraid to use a poly as I don't want arm issues that will keep me from playing. The owner of the shop restrung the demo and is letting me use it until my rackets arrive. I has some kind of multi or polyester in it and I didn't enjoy the feel today. Sorry for the long post. Any recommendations? Great reviews, luca!
Thank you very much! You could either go for a hybrid with a poly and a multi (that will be plenty comfortable), or you could try some of the new era soft polyesters like RPM Soft or Head Lynx Touch.
It's very racket dependent but I usually go up 5 pounds on the gut and 3 on the poly so for example I would do Lynx Tour at 52 in my Gravity but for gut/poly I do 57/55.
I've always stayed away from RPM Blast and RPM Blast Rough b/c they are not known for their tension maintenance. I was curious seeing Rough so high on this list b/c, even though it outlasts ALU Power, it has the same drawback of poor tension maintenance as ALU Power.
Your storytelling and pace is just so good. Always a pleasure to watch these reviews
Thank you very much!
“Yes” to the racket + string combo review
Funny and nice seeing the same rallies with Beckett but from the other side 😀

Yes you can. You don't feel that poly too much so you should be good till the gut breaks. I've never had an issue.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Thanks so much :)
I wonder where you'll place Restring Sync
I remember saying earlier in a vid I use a pro staff. V11 too. What strings do you prefer on classic rackets? Any recommendations? I’ve gotten the gist of how rackets work and feel but never really experimented with strings. If it helps I use Wilson revolve spin now and sometimes it can feel dead but other times I’ve liked it a lot. I have a very flat forehand too. Use very little topspin
I either like a round poly at a slightly lower tension, or a gut and rough poly hybrid with gut in the mains.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver ok perfect thank u sm. I don’t use much spin so the revolve spin doesn’t really do much for me. And I want to drop the tension too
A great ALU Power clone is Topspin Cyberflash. It may be even better.
I can't tell if toroline is hyped because of sponsers or actually good i ordered two rolls so we will see
They make great stuff. They've definitely been smart with the marketing but the playability backs it up.
Please demo hyper G round. See if it removes the stickiness
which company natural gut you prefer on mains , is it wilson? may I know what is the tension you are using.. your first choice is my first choice too..Natural gut is so good for arm.
Shots fired! Is there going to Becket beef? Tee Hee
We're boxing soon...
great vid ideas les go
Luka, what tension do you use on lynx tour?
Usually 52/53 pounds.
I've been using the natural gut/ALU power hybrid for about 20 years and have yet to find anything better!
Ah, you are Donald Trump.
@@hamaja18 LOL I find natural gut has 2 or 3 times the longevity of a full poly setup so in the long run its worth it!
07:00 🤯. Hitting a hell of a flat cannon ball as you describe RPM Rough’s spin. Such irony.
Hi Luka! Can you please recommend couple of rackets for ntrp player 3.0, going to 3.5
My thoughts, 98 is a little bit small sweet spot for my skills right now, at other side I don’t want to change the racket too often. May be it’s time to change to 98, and improve technique? Or don’t be hurry and play with 100..
Now I’m playing Babolat pure aero team 2017 . 300 gram / 100
I’m 185 cm height, 95 kilos
Tennis experience- 1 year (current ntrp 3.0)
Thank you! Appreciate for your feedback!
Go the route of a constant beam 100. You'll get more control but it won't be too difficult to use. The Speed MP is perfect!
I am now trying Kirschbaum gut in the Mains and 4G Soft in the crosses. Alu Power is losing tension very quickly.
Hey Lucas im currently using a gravity mp beefed up at 338 and i love to rip every ball Lemme know which one would you recommend me to use
Currently im using lynx tour 1.30 at 54
I use yonex poly tour pro in my ezone 100, but its getting boring after few weeks.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouverI like Lynx tour, very predictable and forgiven, just little lower power side.
Hi, for spinning, power, those kind of facts, is string more deciding or the racket is? What will the proportion be like approximately? Thanks
Only draw back of natural gut other than it is expensive is that it notches pretty quick and if you play on clay it looses some of its playability even quicker. Otherwise I would agree that it’s the best coupled with Alu power rough
At what tension do you string your gut/poly hybrid? For instance for a 2024 Speed MP? 😁
57/55 in a 100, 16x19.
should you try and match the strengths of the string to your racket, or get strings that have completely different strengths?
That's the question! It really depends, personally I like matching the strengths of the racket.
Have you tried hyper-g round variant?
I've briefly tried it and I like it a lot - may do a review soon.
have you tried restring zero? the original? its a new company that makes strings with crazy snap back, and known from its original, not its new one right now yet maybe its great aswell. You should try it!
Unfortunately, we don't carry it quite yet.
It's disheartening to see that "Confidential" didn't even receive an honorable mention.
Fck confidential, sht's a trampoline
It's kind of like Hyper G to me where I struggle with inconsistency but I find Hyper G has more magic to it.
What do you think of the normal Head Lynx - not tour ?
I’ve heard it’s more Allrounded than the lynx tour.
Tour has more controll & spin but normal lynx has more power & touch.
Im a 3.0-3.5 33yo male with head speed mp 2024
Currently using the lynx in yellow 1.20 in 24/23kg
Im searching for a good Allrounder string and im NOT a string ripper. (Actually never ever ripped a string 🤣)
Maybe some string which holds tension better than normal lynx (it’s like 10-15 hours with my force of hitting)
I do like Head Lynx Tour but at this point I find it a bit "standard". There are better polys now that have more spin/power/feel. It is one of the best all-arounders though so definitely give it a shot.
For the natural gut and alu rough do you string them at the same weight?
No I string the gut 2 pounds higher.
According to the Strings you love you should also try Tourna Big Hitter Silver (Seven Tour).
IMHO better than RPM and Alu.
No, I don't. They are technically thinner but the difference is so minimal, I prefer to keep it the same.
Have you played with MSV focus hex. They are my personal favourite but im curious how they measure up to other co poly strings like 4Gs.
I have not, unfortunately.
Would be nice to include price on each and type of string. Any reason why multifilaments generally do not make this list?
I don't love the feel of multifilaments but they are great for players looking for comfort and who play with a flatter or a more traditional style.
Which tensions are you using for polys and for gut/poly hybrid?
It's very racket dependent but I usually go up 5 pounds on the gut and 3 on the poly so for example I would do Lynx Tour at 52 in my Gravity but for gut/poly I do 57/55.
I've always stayed away from RPM Blast and RPM Blast Rough b/c they are not known for their tension maintenance. I was curious seeing Rough so high on this list b/c, even though it outlasts ALU Power, it has the same drawback of poor tension maintenance as ALU Power.
No one uses the Origin other than Rafa. It's such a specifically speced out racket it really only works for his game.
Hi Luca, what tension do you put in natural gut and all power rough?
57 on the gut 55 on the Alu Rough.
any cheaper alternatives for the gut x poly? maybe synth gut?
You certainly can but it will make for a completely different experience. There's nothing else like gut, that's just kind of the sad reality.
