I have the Microlite 13ft 2000 (minus 1 inch ), I love it Mark. You can have a play sometime if we met up on the bank. I do fish Breech Pond occasionally.
That was my original solution nearly 40 years ago when I did just that on my B&W John Dean rod (as did John Dean himself) and others but the reel 'moves' a bit under your hand so I needed a better solution.
@@MarkWintleFishing I found that on the most slim handles so used a double layer of tube, worked a treat. Might need replacing now but better quality tubing these days

That would be good, maybe next spring?
@@MarkWintleFishing sounds good 👍
I managed to pick up a 13ft Normark at a car boot for £10. It’s a really nice rod I use it all the time.
That is a proper bargain
Out of interest which model Normark is it?
@@MarkWintleFishing hello Mark. The Normark rod is a AVENGER MATCH 13ft. Lovely rod, it’s a bit soft though if you hook into a decent fish.
Absolute bargain, if it's true length and good condition worth about £100, one of the best big waggler rods around.
I cut all of my reel fittings off and replace with bicycle inner tube, better than the cold metal ones in winter
