I always loved how each member of the trio is missing a parent, it really showed how that not all families are perfect
Not just the trio. Many others like Gibby, Emily, Mandy, Chuck, Nevel. Only character in that show that has both parents is Nora. Carly had a 13-year age gap with her older brother.
No it doesn't. That's showing "no family is complete" I've never in my life seen so many split up families in a single room. It's kinda creepy

@@Addie-dh1qd because I can tell you for a fact that a majority of families have more than one parent in one way or another. It is completely unusual and unrealistic the amount of missing parents. Simple. Nothing wrong with having a missing parent. But it's not anywhere near "normal" the abundance of it in the show

It wasn't Spencer (the character), it was Jerry Trainor (the actor). I think it was just his way of saying that he didn't know any more than the rest of us.

I love how the show tackled parental problems very subtly. No one on the show had both parents, wich is what is expected as the normal. It's relieving for kids watching in that condition as I did.

I still think it is the first theory that her mom is dead. As for why they don't mention her or have pictures - maybe her mom died during complications with labor. So rather than have memories of that all over the house & bringing her up - keeps from making Carly feel bad about it. That would be a horrible thing to associate with your birth. They may have not even told her what happened until she was older & gave some other explanation.

Carly’s mother and sams father left because in one of the newer episodes Carly says “ I would never be like mom I would never do what she did to us”. And Freddie’s father passed away when Freddie was born so that’s why Mrs benson is so protective

All signs indicate she abandoned them based on the cliffhanger of season 3. But they could make that an even more deep storyline if they want to take it there

The mystery of Carly's mom is even more intriguing than Zuko's mom in Avatar the Last Airbender (I know there's comics and books about her whereabouts after the war)

ICarly isn't timeless unlike Avatar. iCarly has a very specific time area making it understandable for kids 1995-2005. While Avatar has kept it's relevance. I did this study by going to schools, kindergardens and a highschool.

I feel like, if Carly and Spencer were half siblings, then they'd talk about at least one of their mothers. My theory is that Colonel and Mrs. Shay had Spencer very young, like maybe as teenagers, and Mrs. Shay was a little resentful of Spencer "ruining" her late teens/twenties. And that as Spencer got closer to 18, she was more and more relieved that she'd finally get her freedom back. But Carly was a woopsie baby and, feeling like her life would be over by the time Carly turned 18, she couldn't take it anymore and left.
But in icarly, carly doesn’t isnt 18 when the show starts so that bit makes no sense

Am I the only one who thinks that Sam’s Mom and Carly’s dad fell in love and broke up because of her mom’s habits. Because you wouldn’t want to know that your best friend is your sister if it’s like Sam because that means people won’t treat you normally so because of that it could’ve caused him not to talk and then they adopted Carly as their last kid but it may have been hard raising 3 kids because of Pam’s habits (Pam is Sam’s mom)

I think in the iCarly reboot it would be a perfect time for us to learn what happened to Freddy's father and Carly's mom. Because they don't have to go into much detail of what happened to them. But they should reveal something about their parents just incase they decide to stop making episodes for the iCarly reboot. Because the mystery of what happened to Freddy's father and Carly's mom. Carly’s mom died when she was a little girl, which is why she is too embarrassed to mention it. I mean 27 is still a very young age to lose a parent. I know people in their sixties that still have one parent alive.
There is nothing embarrassing about losing a parent, I lost my dad when I was a year ago at 24 and I was never embarrassed about it. It's why the theory of Carly's mom being dead doesn't make sense to me, if she was dead why would Carly try to avoid the subject instead of just saying she passed away? I would rather tell people that my father passed away then have them imagine other things

Yes I think Carly’s mom is still out there. What I think Carly should do is to ask Harper and Freddie and maleficent should do a skate out for 4 weeks to find her and meet her mom and to have Mother and daughter date. And talk things out about life and talk about her new roommates and her friendship with Sam and Freddie.

I’m sure we can all agree that things will get real emotional once the first episode of season 4 comes like Carly and Spencer’s mom have never once been mentioned from the original icarly (not counting when Spencer said to what’s her name “you’re not my mother”) and then in sam and cat nevel asked sam what happened to Carly’s mom and then in game shakers Freddie said idk what happened to Carly’s mom and then in that one episode Carly didn’t want to talk about her mom when someone mentioned her so when episode 10 of s3 came we got an idea of what happened to Carly and Spencer’s mom its not that she died nor had a job to where she couldn’t find the time to be with Carly and Spencer it’s just that she walked out on them when Carly and Spencer were very young now we can’t really get into the specifics just yet but we can come up with theories that’ll most likely come true now idk about y’all but I’m ready to see what Carly and Spencer’s mom look like after all these years just like when Colonel shay was revealed in the final episode from the og icarly

Theory 4: Her mom and got divorced. Spencer and Carly must have had a bad relationship with her and that’s why the show or themselves barely mentions her. We never see Freddie’s, Gibby’s, or Sam’s Dads either. This is probably one of most likely theories. 5th theory she passed away after my 4th theory happened.

Throughout the series, nothing is ever mentioned of Carly and Spencer's mom--it's also never confirmed if Spencer and Carly have the same mother, as they could potentially be paternal half-siblings (meaning they have the same father but different mothers), as half-siblings in general tend to have to large age differences. During a UA-cam video of Jerry Trainor, when he was asked where Carly and Spencer's mother was, and he responded, "I don't know, shopping I guess," while laughing.
In the episode iStakeout, Mrs. Benson says to Spencer, "Spencer, you have a stain on your shirt, go put on a fresh one!". Spencer then replies, "But you're not my mother!"
It's possible that she is deceased (which would make Colonel Shay a widower), but assuming that Mrs. Shay is still alive, it can assumed that she and Colonel Shay are divorced, separated or were possibly never married in the first place. Also, assuming that Mrs. Shay is in fact still alive, she's clearly not involved in Carly and Spencer's lives--for example, as shown in iWanna Stay with Spencer, if anything were to happen to Spencer where he couldn't act as legal guardian: Carly would have to go live with their paternal grandfather rather some other relative, such as her mother.
Nevel questions the absence of Carly's mother in the Sam & Cat episode, #SuperPsycho, but Sam just walks away. Nathan Kress has stated that he didn't know what happened to Carly's mom.
Her inexplicable absence is referenced in the 2021 revival, where Carly is asked about what her parents do. She offers an explanation about her dad, but when questioned about her mom she awkwardly changes the subject.
However, on the nick.com page of iCarly, it says both of Carly's parents are out at sea.

I think Carly's mom is dead because they hardly talk about her and if the cast wanted us to know that she was a secret agent but Carly couldn't talk about it to just anyone they could just make a scene of Carly and her brother talking about their mom being an agent in private.
What if Carly's mom is Sam's mom. Sam's mom is the type to have kids with multiple men and she probably never told Sam and Carly they are half sisters and threatened Carly's dad to not say anything about it.

My theory is that carly's dad adopted her and spancer so they don't have a Mother they can talk about

I googled this to find more info on Carly's mom and there's an article online that says Dan Schnider says Carly's mom was never mentioned to be dead on the show. And nothing further about Carly's mom. For some reason I feel like she's an absentee parent like they said in the video. Carly and Spencer clearly have different mom's. Carly's dad lives with her in another country. He meet Carly's mother while on a mission and got her pregnant. He moved Carly to America to have a better life.

Honestly, I don't think I ever fully registered that we never got any mention about Carly and Spencer's mom until Nevel asked about it when he appeared on Sam & Cat.
