    C-Lister Luxon is certainly gaff prone, that's for sure,
    shades of Sir Rob Muldoon, not at all reassuring really.

    • @mdbal420
      @mdbal420 4 місяці тому +1

      At least Muldoon had the luxury of being able to blame alcohol for some of his worst gaffs.
      Luxons mouthing off is purely driven by an arrogant world-view.

    If the numbers were crunched for expenditure for each endangered species, I am fairly sure the Kakapo recovery project would be the largest dollar value. It's had a dedicated team of rangers, scientists, vets, choppers, breeding areas and offshore islands for the longest time. Second would probably be the Takeha recovery project. But the Department of Conservation's annual expenditure on 'front country' "recreational assets" is always usually higher than the Department's total annual spend on all endangered species recovery projects. Perhaps Tama Potaka had conflated recreation and biodiversity budgets. Perhaps he meant to say "We can't maintain every hut" and not "We can't save every species". Perhaps.... 😁

    The public information released on Minister office spending. Four National Party ministers have joined a AI application to be able record meetings they go to. The person who posted the alert is safe to have PM meetings on this Ai application and the information is held overseas ( N Willis, C Bishop , ..)

    17:00 Hearing Tim speak about how the format is more conducive to perhaps sharing revelatory information that would not be offered in a more rehearsed setting, made me think it would be a great idea to incorporate something like the 'Hot Wings' challenge into scrutiny week proceedings. Watching how the mask falls off, and the honesty starts flowing as the brain struggles to deal with each subsequent morsel ratcheting up the intensity would be uniquely satisfying in a parliamentary setting *8 )

    The only relationship Luxon cares about is his one with himself. Everyone else is just useful toward that end. There is no empathy, just ego. And he is not experienced at hiding that. Plain as day for all to see we in fact have a C list PM wanna be.

    Luxon talks far to much and it's mostly corporate word salad, as the Americans would say, without alot of meaningful substance. He obviously believes he's an A lister, but to me he's all mouth and trousers, with a touch of arrogance.

      @@barbarathomas2561 you sound so misandrist. If you think she wasn't arrogant you have been brainwashed. We thankfully haven't seen anything about the wedding and it's purely because she's not on the campaign trail and not seeking the adulation of people like yourself. Speaking of being on centre stage do you recall when she refused to allow the New Zealand media to take photos of her baby but the moment she got to a UN meeting she paraded the child in front of the cameras for the world to see.

    What species we should pay to save?
    ALL OF THEM!

  • @ooo-vc4xl
    @ooo-vc4xl 4 місяці тому +6

    The marginal benefit of saving the last mating pair of a species is effectively infinite $. Otherwise, they go extinct. This would push the benefit/cost ratio towards infinity & would justify expenditure from other government departments being moved to conservation.
    Funding constraints are neoliberal tripe. Many other OECD countries run higher tax revenue/GDP ratios, they also have CGT.

    Yeah Luxon needs to remember he is representing the whole country. Not sure he gets that :) He is quite confusing and should be at the Olympics with the amount of backflips he performs!
    Why has there been no outrage over Darlene Tana and the migrant exploitation. Why is this investigation taking so long?
    Get some balance guys. Just saying...Luxon is too easy, get into all the parties and hold everyone to account.

    Scrutiny week is currently only of limited use. All government spending proposals including budgets should go through socioeconomic cost benefit assessment before being committed. Then the public and opposition would know the real impacts on NZ Inc and truly scrutinize the government.

    Your opening remark of “the hustler-in-chief” Chris Luxon shows your political bias so clearly not to mention your preferred content. Would it be so difficult to present a factually presented discussion without sarcasm and allow the listener to learn rather than your attempt to influence? No wonder the public trust in news / journalism is so low!

    • @barbarathomas2561
      @barbarathomas2561 4 місяці тому +3

      You need to see and acknowledge the way Luxon promotes himself. He sees himself as a hustler - its an entirely apt epithet. And every news channel has a bias, that is why we choose some over others to listen to/watch. -Welcome to the real world ;-)

And should the world, and reporting, be unbiased, and impartial? When does their reporting of the truth become apparently biased, and lacking impartiality ... I guess it all boils down to where you get your truth from; and as the inestimable Mr Trump has said, so often, there are facts, and alternative facts. Perhaps this website promotes the latter (in your eyes, I should add, to absolve myself lol - because, in the interests of partiality, I like what these guys do) ...
