There are all sorts of quilting calculator apps but you will need roughly 8 yards of fabric for a Queen Size quilt for the front and another 8 yards for the back. Yes, you absolutely can use cotton along with the flannel fabric. The only difference will be in the ragging effect in between the seams. It will still rag up but will just be a thinner appearance. Try it out on a small project and see if you like it. The wonderful thing about quilting is it’s a beautiful creative outlet that allows you to be the designer! Blessings! 💝

You can use a disappearing ink pen to draw the line corner to corner using a ruler. There’s also seam tape you can adhere to sewing machine to follow the straight line.

I've always just treated them like the straight edges of the quilt and continued even spaced snips, however the last few I've done, I've snipped at an angle on the corner. Either way works. Just a matter of preference. Thanks for watching!

Flannel fabric from a good fabric store or Walmart. Not flannelette...at least I haven't used that before. I suppose you could, although the flannel makes it to rag up nicely once you've snipped all the edges.
