Yes rockford amps get pretty hot at 1 ohm but what's cool is the metal around the amp is supposed to get hot from pulling the heat away from the internal components. If you feel the metal it's hot, but then feel the actual amp itself (Like putting your hand on the rockford logo) and you'll notice it's cool to the touch.
Well I debated alot on whether it would be worth it or not to switch to the 15's at 2 ohm. But my amplifier is rated at 1500 watts @ both 1 and 2 ohms so there is minimal power differences. The 15's are much louder, and when they play notes lower than the tuning frequency it still sounds good because the 15's just move so much air anyway, Also, I can always recone them to dual 4's and go back to 1 ohm. But my next upgrade will be a bigger amp maybe one that is .5 ohm stable and ill run it @ .5
I'm actually going to upload a video of wiring it and running it at .5 ohm in a day or so. My 15's are doing great tho I could tell immediately when I went to half ohm my subs are just crying for me to put them on a 2500. But I think i'm going to go back to 2 ohms cuz my amp gets hot, its probably like 50% efficient that low, my voltage drops stupid low. So all I need is money for a bigger amp! (Story of our lives right) haha

I have an aftermarket alternator and a pretty beefy electrical system, I have an excessive amperage 200 amp alternator, XS Power 2nd battery, big 3 upgrade, and a 10 farad capacitor. My voltage usually does not drop below 13. For some reason the higher bass notes (50+ hertz) are the ones that drop my voltage to the 12 range. But when Im slamming the lows my voltage stays steady. But yeah I'd like to get a Sundown 2500 or 3500, im pretty broke at the moment tho haha.
nice setup man i got one of the 12s on an saz-1200d @1ohm. been bumpin for over a year now and its still as stiff as when i bought it. Those sa's are barely moving though if the moneys right i would recommended getting another amp and run each sub with its own amp. then you can wire down to 1ohm and youll be slammin!! just be careful when settin the gains. keep your head up and your sundown ha

The amp gets pretty damn hot after just 2 songs, efficiency goes down the drain, but it worked for 4 days until I was playing a song and it went into protect, I told myself if that happens id go back to 2 ohms so when I get time im going to wire it back to 2 ohm. Bottom line is I just need a bigger amp D:
nice, im gonna test my SSA XCON 12 on a T1500BD not CP as soon as i build my box.. for now i have a vid of my friends set up Sa 12 on P1000-1bd before & after sound deadening a couple areas in the trunk.. My friends first system.. pretty decent
8-10 cubic feet would be ideal. I wouldn't go too much bigger than that tho. And tuned that low oh man that system is going to sound awesome. I know my sa-15's would be more efficient if I had a bit bigger box. I would aim for 8-9 cubes

I had a guy build it for me when I was in Florida. I fucked it up tho it was too small for the 15's and I tuned it disgustingly high. It was just all around a fail on my part lol. I got a new box now tho, and Z v.3's
i got 2 cvx's powered by an orion hcca 2400 an when i had em runnin at 2 ohms to some cvrs a while back, it got pretty hot so hopefully 1 ohm won't kill this amp too bad, its 1 ohm stable but idk well hafto c what it do
that 1500 is JUST fine to run at .5ohm hell i ran a rockford p300.1 at 1ohm for a year ( 2ohm rated amp) it never got warm!! i know 2 people who run a 2500bdcp and a 1500 both of them are at 1/2ohm

Have you ever tried a huge sealed box like that . I know everyone likes extra loud bass so they go ported but sealed sounds way cleaner and will hit all low notes evenly not just were the box is tuned @ hz wise . Ported is more for people who have lil power amps or just want to get super loud at any cost even if it sounds like crap or blows their subs like in a competition . Daily driver sounds way better sealed and will still get very loud with that set up 140 db+ .
Not yet :/ I think I need to throw another 1500 on there or sell my 1500 and get a rockford T2500 they put out over 3000 watts. Also, I might need to tune my box a bit lower for that, since im tuned at ~35 hertz the real lows dont hit as hard as they could

well it would not really run at .5 ohms it will be about .6 or .7 it will be way louder at a lower ohm but u will need more power like say a bigger alt because if u buy a amp 2500 rms with stock power and then buy a 3000 rms with the same power it will give u the same watts but from 1500 rms to 2000 rms u will hear the difference because up to that power the stock alt will handle it

I can guarantee you that you will never fry a Rockford T-series Amp. They are top of the line amplifiers. The only way a 1 ohm stable amp would fry is if your voltage is dropping to 10-11 volts. But even still you wouldn't fry the rockford amp because of the protection circuit it has, it will shut off if it ever gets too low of voltage. I have ran this amplifier at .5 ohm and it handled it but the protection circuit (for too low of ohms) would trip sometimes so I just wired it back to 2 ohms
that amplifier is a lot more powerful at 1 ohm than 1500 watts. try more like 2500 watts. maybe even more. the t2500bdcp have been found to be like 3700 watts on some birthsheets. while i'm just guessing. I know it's an under rated amp. :)
by the way - did he trade you the 15s for the 12s b/c of space contraints or he wanted higher hz meter scores? Both 12 and 15 have same input sensitivity, same coil size and both supposedly handle 600RMS when in reality each of these can take 1500 watts rms - daily

Two dual 2ohm subs either give you either a 1 ohm load or a 4 ohm load depending on how you wire them. How did you wire the subs to come up with a 2ohm load?
At the moment im away from my car for another week but ill get that to you when I can. But just measure your available space and put the dimensions in a box calculator and see how many cubic feet it gives you. You want to shoot for 6+ cu. ft.
so im looking at going 2 sa-15s in the back of my ext. cab dodge truck... was thinking about making a HUGE (9-10+ cubes) box with ridiculous low tuning (25-28hz), would something like these SA 15s perfer a larger box over a smaller box like say 8 cubes? sick setup by the way

I have a friend with 2 skar vvx 12's and they pound so hard I dont even understand how. He does have a small truck tho. But I would choose the SA or VVX or Fi SSD before the rockford. And you really cant go wrong with the 12's or 15's. You need A LOT of room for 2 15's tho. Like 8 cubic ft. Two twelves only need 4

Just upgraded from 2 E series 15" 400Watt 4 ohm, to 2 SA 15's!!! I will be installing them as soon as I get off work!!!

That Rockford amp pushes 1500 rms at a 2 ohm load and 1 ohm load. You are still getting max wattage from that amp.

I vary my bass boost from 0 to -12. I never go above 0. And I have my loudness on medium.

You can only turn the head unit up so far before it starts sending a clipping signal to the amp, if subs clip for a long time they will blow.

U can't wire 2 dual 2 ohm subs together down to an one ohm load. It can be an 0.5 load or a 2 ohm load.
2 dual 4 ohm subs can be wired down together to an one ohm load tho
