Just a wonderful story of Mary Ann and her granddaughter, inspiring and it brought tears to my eyes as we learn about the Samplemakers. Thanks for reaching out to us and inspiring the transcendence of stitching. Oh I am so happy that Bertie is doing well. Enjoying seeing your sweet boys too.
Wonderful that her grand daughter was still able to talk with you. As a stitcher from Australia it would be interesting to see your samplers from here. An idea for a future floss tube idea maybe?
Your recent finish is beautiful and I love that you spoke with Mary Ann's granddaughter. The new sampler is very sweet and I look forward to stitching her someday. Another beautiful sampler to stitch for Christmas is Mary Wigglesworth 1812. She is a stunning sampler!!
I loved this video, the story behind the first sampler! Thank you for your research, it is so interesting to find out about the girls and women in the past, their life stories. And this time you actually made a connection with the present! To see that picture! This is one of the reasons I just love stitching samplers, the history, the connection with the past. History was my favorite subject in school, so actually it should not surprise me I just fell in love with stitching samplers when my interest in cross stitch first started earlier this year (after decades of only quilting). Love the Ann Beresford Chamberlain sampler too. It may be rather simple looking, but... it has got my birthday on it, October 7! And a pretty row of flowers. Thank you for this video and have a wonderful Sunday!
How precious that you were actually able to speak to the granddaughter of Mary Ann and that she knows her grandmother's legacy will live on! My other passion besides needlework is genealogy and I just love stories like that. Thank you for the amazing work you do Nicola, have a wonderful week!
What a touching video. Thank you for going to the trouble of speaking with Grandaughter of Mary Ann. Such a personal connection. I also love the Christmas colored samplers. Gorgeous. That poinsettia border is stunning. 🤩
Thank you for the attention to dry eyes. It is also a main issue with menopause/perimenopause. Lights, fans, heat, and lower estrogen all contribute. Fish oil is a fabulous tip.
What a wonderful story about Mary Ann Groom. Shows how important it is to put some identifying info on the back of your work. Jackie must be amazed at how her grandmother’s sampler will be treasured and reproduced by needle workers of today. Good luck with the workers. We have construction going on right now - our main bathroom. It does get a bit noisy. Happy stitching.
So many beautiful “pretties” today! After your last flosstube, I immediately bought fish oil capsules. Thanks for the hint! You are so thoughtful to have contacted Mary Ann’s daughter. And then to plan to send her the booklet of the sampler is especially kind. Then again, kind and thoughtful would be two of the words used to describe you!
Hello Nicola…. M so happy Bertie ❤is doing well… my Grandaddy had boxers, & Bull dogs, funny faces..:-)) but his BOXERS (3) were his heart ♥️ I have find memories of these precious boys.. I wanted to say How my heart flip flopped when you spoke of Jackie’s grandmother… how special your soul is, that you reached out to her, & amazingly the call 📱 was a blessing to her, I’m sure. I worked with these folks & they are so delighted to have phone 📱 calls, & visits. You are one special lady Nicola. Loved the smalls you shared.. & Anne Beresford Chamberlains piece will a joy to stitch. I love the background information, one can connect to the stitcher. I wonder is it to late to join in on the red box your putting together.. my Sons want to get it for Xmas. I’ve been sick 😷 with URI & Asthma for the past 3months, so stitching small pieces is tenable , right now my girls are in hold. I have some suggestions if can repost in the dry eye 👁️ I’ve surgery 2x & my Dr prescribed a great eye drop. I don’t use magnifying lamps or glasses, they give me headaches ..stitch in hand under a really bright OTT lamp. Had it for yrs. Alrighty Nicola have a blessed weekend in your Lovely Countryside 🌍 Hugs to the boys!! Sharon 🤗♥️🇺🇸🙏🌍♥️🙏
I was just going to ask you about threads your using and can I be cheeky and ask where you got your wooden sewing basket it's absolutely beautiful and so is your work, enjoy listening to you about your work
Such a treat to be able to speak to the granddaughter. Beautiful sampler. I have never used a scroll frame before. What's a good scroll frame for a first-time user of one.
I love Mary Ann Groom! What linen & count did you use? Given the date, she will be a beautiful companion to Rosa Gromett (which I am stitching now - love her & thank you so much for this gift from the HH retreat!). And how wonderful you were able to reach out to Mary Ann’s granddaughter. Oh, and Anne Beresford! Once you reproduce her, I so hope it’s available to purchase! It’s date is my late Mother’s birthday and I’d love to stitch her in tribute to my Mom❤️ Thank you Nicola for another wonderful flosstube!
The Red Box will go on sale hopefully in Feb or March. As the time gets closer I'm sure Nicola will provide more info but in the past she announces when they are listed on her website and it is first come until her supply is depleted.
Yes, please. The cc assistance was worthless. It was dort of spelled, but 2 very different ways arrrgh! It would be helpful if the resources of which you speak would be listed in the Description Box, as a Blue hyperlink.

Mary Ann Groom was stitched on Dirty Tea Cup from Needle and Flax. I am so pleased you are enjoying Rosa.
