Amazing Erica! Love your family and the videos! Best I've watched.
🥰 thank you so much for taking time to message! So encouraging to keep on it. Cheers!
Erica thank you so much for sharing what you went through! I wanted to cry hearing your story of losing your baby girl and then how you were treated waiting for a DNC. You are such a beautiful and strong lady. Thank you for telling us about PV and the medical, I found it interesting you said how your hemorrhides flared up as soon as you got back to the states. When My family and I moved to the US my mother struggled severely with them, your story is so similar to hers. I wonder if it really is being in the US that even causes these problems to begin with…anywho. Thank you for all your valuable info :) Sending peace and blessings to you and your beautiful family.
Wow, thank you so much much for taking the time to write this! And your mom… flaring up back in the states!? We joke how “I’m allergic to the US”, but it really is crazy how our minds and body’s react to environmental conditions. Hopefully your mom has found relief 🩵 Peace and happiness back at ya!
I just discovered your channel today and I'm binge watching your videos...they are so insightful and edifying to your watchers. I'm sure they are having greater impact than you know!
Thank you for sharing your story with us. as a healthcare worker, I was tell patients, there is nothing embarrassing when it comes to medical care. I'm so glad you got the care you needed!
As a Canadian, I am not as aware of the costs of medical care as in the US...most care is free of cost covered by our tax dollars but there are long wait times. Dental care is not free for non-seniors here in Canada and we may purchase private insurance to pay for that.
Q: Who do you recommend in PV for dental care?
PS: Isn't Mexico awesome? ❤❤❤
Hey!! Thank you for tuning into another video! We really appreciate your support. As our channel is growing it is really encouraging to hear people like you say that!
Send us an email and we can get our dentist in PV info to you!

As a Canadian the US medical system is so bizarre to me we don’t pay for anything out of pocket. Thankfully, we have never had problems with our health care here in Canada. And yes, the medical care in Mexico (for expats and tourists for sure - not sure how it is for locals) is fantastic. My cousin had surgery due to a car accident and had nothing but good things to say.
OMG I would probably come there yesterday just for the medical care alone if not also the weather and the locals!! I have personally been unhappy with America for quite a few years! I just personally don’t have the income to come, or I would have probably beaten your family there to be honest! BTW your not the first person who’s said that they’ve felt perfectly safe there I’ve seen that quite often from other expats. I mean I think always no matter where you go in life remain observant of people and places and trust your instincts & if something feels wrong get out! But I’m so happy that you’re doing much better! Personally have pretty bad hemorrhoid’s & several other medical issues & have lost a lot of trust in the medical system here!
Yes, that all right! The income part of thing took us a while to figure out, but we did over time!! Thank you for your kind words.
Thank you for sharing! You must have been dealing with Pam to help get you setup. She knows it all in PV!!! Great to hear you are feeling better.
Yep, Pam it was!! She did wonders getting us connected. So thankful for her and the professionals we worked with!
-Erika
So glad you are feeling better ❤️
Thank you so much. It’s life changing 🥰

Thank you for the candid story, it was not TMI. I just found your channel as I've been researching the PV area for a few months now and would love to retire in Mexico some day. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Thank you for following along!
I am so sorry that you went through all of that (sounds like a pain in the butt! Yuk yuk)! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing story! I was just taking about my frustrations with getting an “emergency” appointment with a pain management doctor 3 months after we discussed care. Anyway, I am so happy that you are on the road to recovery! 💓💓💓💓
I feel like “emergency” and “3 months” shouldn’t be in the same sentence. I hope you find the care you need, wherever it may be! Thanks for taking the time to write… cheers to good health!
-Erika
thank you! this was a very personal, enlightening, encounter with you as a very open and sharing person. Regardless of the medical situation, this was an inspiring experience!
Your message made my day. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and reach out! Cheers to health and inspiration 🙌🏽

This is a beautiful story and I Thank You for sharing it with us. I'm in PV a lot and next time I am there I want to try using their medical care. I have a horror story myself of having an emergency here in AZ where I was ignored in an emergency room to where I went into a critical state. The care you received sounds phenomenal and thank you again for sharing your story. I'm so glad they were able to help you. 🥰💞👍🏻
Yes! We highly recommend the medical care in PV. It was a great experience. Especially comparing it to all the bad ones in the States...
Well, first of all, I was sad to hear that you have suffered so much recently but so glad that you now seem to be recovering well. It is very brave of you to share your story and I think it is great that you are trying to help other people with all the information. It makes me realise just how lucky we are here in the UK with health care we have here. I hope you fully recover and continue making videos for us to enjoy. Best wishes. Dave
Thank you Dave! Ironically I busted a rib (swing dancing in London) and got to experience the emergency medical care there. I was equally impressed with the quality service I got and the zero dollars they were asking of me. I’ll get Matt to the UK someday! Cheers
-Erika
yeah to Puerto Vallarta. We travel every year in Bucerias and we love it. So glad you are doing so much better. Was the doctors name Pamela by any chance?
It is Dra Pamela! Kind, professional and knowledgeable 🥰 I assume you know her or have seen her?
-Erika
I agree as long as you do your research on your doctor you will get great care.
Definitely! Something we should no matter where it is.
-Erika
Thanks for your sharing in order to help others. And you might not want to bash the U.S. healthcare system, but I will. It's the pits! And I work within it! I will be in PV for the first time in July. I need to see a dermatologist for a full body skin check. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
Hahah, thanks for saying what I didn’t 🫣😂 and of course! Please shoot us an email and I’ll send it all over! theirhappytrails@gmail.com

It makes me so sad that you had such awful experiences in the US, but glad to hear you got such great care at reasonable prices there.
On the other hand, we have been with the same HMO for 40 years and have had nothing except exceptional caring service including stroke rehab and short hospital stays for my husband, to multiple ER visits and procedures for me, on top of preventive and routine care. Many friends and family belong to the same HMO and have had similar experiences. There are increasing doctor shortages in recent years leading to a shortage of appointments, but with the different systems in place to access care, we are still being well cared for. A personal example: last month I realized I had another case of diverticulitis. When I called advice, there were no appointments available. The nurse sent a notice to my primary care physician and asked me to do the same. Within two hours I had a message from an on-call physician who agreed that I needed antibiotics (no visit to the doctor or test would have generated a different response) given my history. Within three hours of my initial call, I had my prescription medication and was on the road to recovery. Another friend had the same experience that week for a seriously infected finger. The on-call doctor prescribed antibiotics and made not one, but two, follow up appointments for her that same week. This is the same friend that fell and broke her femur in the middle of COVID. Our HMO contracted with another local hospital where she had her surgery and followup care given impacted hospital systems at that time. Because our insurance is through an HMO, our copays are reasonably low.
Robin, little did I know, over a decade ago that a lovely hair client (that’s you) would turn into a fabulous modern day pen-pal! You have been such an inspiration to my personal growth as a young woman, especially in the beautiful world of travel. Your medical experience in the US truly makes me happy, to hear of such wonderful care for you and those you wrote about! I’m sure there are several others out there and I hope the amount of caring physicians and supportive providers grows beyond our current situation. Thank you so much for always following along and commenting with authenticity throughout my journey. Everyone needs a “Robin” in their life! Hugs from afar,
-Erika
