This game works so well because first play through you take it slow and actually sacrifice lights being on or off with the amount of fuel you have. First playthrough for me on normal took 8 hours. Then after it’s around 4 hours. Never overstays it’s welcome and makes every playthrough unique with items changing spots. It encourages you to replay it in different ways. No dlc to worry about. It’s such a throwback to old survival horror games. Keeping with its roots.
i like the fact that the monster doesn't show up until after the valve. its like a tutorial of how its played without letting you know its a tutorial after the 'tutorial'. it also allows you to get scared of it without seeing the creature right away,
I very much appreciate this. I am a seasoned gamer, but this is first amnesia game and can already get the sense this is a very different game. I will definitely be coming back to this video.
The bunker was my first too..I beat it after 13 hours and i refused to look up anything. i suggest NOT coming back to this video until you beat the game, try figure things out on your own, it's much more fun that way. Think in a critical way, almost every idea is viable in this game.
I'm amazed that someone master this game well already to make such a thorough and optimized guide like this. So early, to boot. I love Frictional Games and this is a great one. I find the setting, mechanics and plot to be fantastic, but I'm still too much of a pussy to make real progress.
*10 of my personal Protips!* 1. The flashlight only needs two charges to get to full power. 2. The Beast does NOT hear your flashlight winding, ONLY when you _overwind_ it. 3. You can drop items on the floor of the saferoom and they will not despawn or break your game. You can even decorate with trinkets from around the bunker! 4. You can use the Bolt Cutters to break regular locks! Such as the ones found on filing cabinet drawers. Use your ammunition on The Beast as much as youd like, or save it for the end of the game! 5. If you move backwards and press the run button in quick succession, you'll do a quick 180° turn, so you can run away with ease! 6. Despite many tests, I've confirmed there are ZERO truly safe spots in the map besides the Administration Room and the middle part of the Pillbox ladder. 7. Even on the hardest difficulty settings with the hole burrowed inside the Administration Room, it will still always be truly safe as long as your doors are NOT destroyed. He can enter only from the outside, and he can't enter from that hole. 8. Many probably think you _must_ climb down the Pillbox ladder to avoid fall damage. But try to remember a time you actually took fall damage in the game... That's right, you can jump STRAIGHT down the Pillbox ladder and avoid all and any damage. 9. Having your flashlight out, a torch in your hand, and walking are the three things that will slow down your loading/buffer screens by a noticeable amount. 10. Even if you are crouching, the Pillbox sniper CAN still hit you, and it is an instant kill. *Hope this helped! Ive got a significant amount of hours in this game and have done everything there is to do times six, and this is what ive discovered in my time :)*
@@underthemayo I agree, it kind of defeats the entire main mechanic and point of the game. I'm hoping there will be an update to change it though. Hey I meant to also add, great video man! Just recently found your channel and I enjoy your narration style a lot.
ofc the game doesn’t want to give me a brick.. 😭 5:05 BUT NONTHELESS TY SM for this fast tutorial. you did an amazing job and earned a sub!! i didn’t wanna drop the game but i still wanted to play it without shitting my pants 😭😭
Might use this and give the game another chance. Didn’t enjoy the whole flashlight thing and having to power it every couple seconds so I dropped the game.
Play on easy or normal to figure out the maps, and you'll find plenty of gas to keep the generator on. I never used the flashlight outside the first mission.
@@underthemayo yeah i started over again on a fresh save and I’ve been enjoying it now. The game provides plenty of fuel to keep going before it ever runs out. That was my problem not using the fuel and only relying on the flashlight
I think the "secret map" may be concept art for possible level design??? Seen similar left in many games i.e. Sonic Generations, Metro Exodus, Fallout. ect.
Thank you for this. I love horror but i cannot for the life of me play an exploration game, especially a horror one. I dont scare easily AT ALL so most horrors in the vein of exploration are sooo boring cus i dont get scared and jus feel like im playing a collectathon
You can throw the rabbit on middle of the wooden bridge in the final section of the game. Then when the monster is occupied you can throw a grenade on the bridge and the bridge is destroyed and the monster falls down. Then you don't need to drag boxes to jump over.
I prefer amnesia rebirth, first of all I'm claustrophobic, and this game has so many flaws.. they didn't need to add a guy with a shotgun at the end when the entire game doesn't prepare you for combat, it only prepares you for hiding and being elusive.. and so many glitches .
@@underthemayo Interesting. Maybe I’m triggering it after the valve? But Delisle’s code is through that room. I’m intrigued now. The first time I triggered it I specifically remember the creature showing up, and after that I always trigger it and run back to the admin. office.
doesn't look like you've accounted for randomization very much (if at all) for this "walkthrough". that would make sense if you're tailoring this for a first run, which it seems like you are, but you're also doing other stuff like it's a second run, like acting like the lighter code could be anywhere, but when first run conditions are on, giraud's corpse will always be in maintance. edit: this also seems like bad advice overall, like telling us to stop by the chapel to get supplies after telling us to waste two grenades barging into the pillbox, there's an option where you're still get the monster attack, have more grenades, and won't have a pillbox key cluttering up your inventory.
Man i'm just showing what worked for me call it bad advice if you want. And for me every run Giraud's corpse was in a different place. Maybe that was changed in an update but that's how it was when I played.

Appreciate the System Shock 2 soundtrack in the background!
That "secret map" is just the layout of the Roman Tunnels. I don't think there's another ending. Good video.
It's still odd to me. It's hidden away. It has a bunch of stuff circled on it. Feels significant.
There are only two endings I think, this and where you „both” escape.

If you replay the tutorial, you'll go through the action of picking up and charging an object.
Not sure if it’s a difficulty thing but the first boobytrapped door you mention, the monster WILL show up there if you blow it up.
