15:00 Was the exact moment he shot the rat in my playthrough, the shotgun racking and then the rat getting lit up. I knew it was every man for himself. This segment was terrifying, I had no bullets, and no grenades. Looking for them in the middle of being chased by Touissant with a M1897 Trench gun was a whole new level of horror.
Just beat the game, literally ran away the second I saw the screen get lit up. “Bye!” I yelled in fear After awhile I made up a plan to blow him up, originally I had a grenade, I tried luring him to the area, but I failed miserably, lost a grenade and a bottle in the process. I then decided to try an explosive barrel, I decided to move the barrel close to the stairs, but out of nowhere he heard me and shot at the door next to me, I crouched away and hid behind a stack of boxes, waiting, waiting and waiting, until I finally had the chance to throw a flare at the barrel when he got close but I missed. As a last ditch effort I grabbed gas, a bottle and a rag from each room before lighting it aflame and burning him alive. After that I crawled through a broken tunnel and found lambert’s… stuffed rabbit? I read his journals, I decided to keep it and escape with it, not worth throwing away. **Had to make it seem like a journal, hope you enjoyed imagining my experience** *Ps, first playthrough no death, if you want I’ll tell you my close calls I had*

Thank you so much for adding this. It’s nice to listen to them without any of the background action I have to pay attention to. I’ve only ever played on hard and shell shock, so the monster has never given me time to read or listen to the notes, he’s always moving towards me or spawning in to search for me, so I have to move to a new location and ultimately forget about the note and move on to the next objective.
The game does have voice lines for french soldiers but I didn't even know if they were in the game and I doubt people would remember, my mistake This video has a lot of issues but I don't think I'm remaking it to be honest
No, it's a different guy, different voice actor. It legit just completely slipped my mind while I was making the video but I'm not thaaat peeved because it's really just a guy saying a lot of numbers lol@@argoniananthony894
The translation of the german prisoner is wrong. Teufel means devil. It should be Dämon. Hes not saying höhle its wrong. He says in der hölle what translates to in the hell. Lassen sie es zu means keep it closed.
Semi-comprehensive list of errors, since I get occasional comments about it and I'm bored:
Missing Voicelines:
-Joubert's Arsenal Codes
-French Soldiers
These voicelines are in the files, in the game, and I completely forgot about them
-Some Touissant voicelines?
when listening back I felt like there were like two or so that went missing, there's a lot of files for this specific guy so it's not surprising (every line is a separate file)
Transcript errors:
13:38 "nich" should be "nicht"
Touissant's poem isn't fully correct:
2nd line is "It all gets lost, LOST in a terrible twirl"
20th line is "What'll come NEXT around the bend?"
21st line is "Maybe some kind end"
German errors (oh boy):
As pointed out by like five different comments, "Teufel" is devil, "Dämon" is demon
"In der Hohle" was actually very likely "In der Hölle", which means something more like "In hell", I thought he was referring to the monster's hiding place, but nah.
"Lassen sie es zu", while my translation isn't necessarily wrong, it's a bit too literal, I was thinking "Leave it be" in the sense of leaving the door closed, but a more accurate translation would be just "Keep it closed"

I love how 50% of the voiceliness is just Toussaint reciting a poem in 3 different emotions.
Five, actually
You can tell on how genuinely anguished the German prisoner/Karl sounds! His VA really did an amazing job with his role!
Soldat Boisrond's first "Hello?" freaked me out for a second. I like him
Touissant’s VA did an absolute Masterclass performance.
it's really a shame most people don't hear all variations of his poem, I would've never guessed there's five of them! They all have so much soul put into them
as well as pretty much any VAs in the game
I made that poem btw
