- Ganondorf Dragmire is he truly evil? The desert king is constantly shown as a stereotypical dark lord, but is there a reason behind his actions in the Legend of Zelda series? Is Ganondorf truly at fault for his actions? Or perhaps there is a dark rational behind Ganondorf’s actions, one involving the Hyrulean Royal Family. Watch the theory by Macintyre Productions and HMK to find out.
Watch Part 2 of the theory over at HMK’s channel!

Why Ganondorf becomes hateful:
Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
Much fear I sense in Ganondorf.
It was simply fear of losing everything he had worked so hard for to provide the women of his land a decent world.
Spoilers for BotW
"He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil."
Hell. If I lived my whole life in a desert, I'd be pissed too. I hate sand. It's coarse, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere
Deal with it
Did nobody get that star wars refrence
Star Wars reference
@Uncle Ruckus bruh XD!!
Take a seat!
Damn, well now I certainly wouldn't mind a Ganondorf game.
Garrett Coladonato well if we play as a gerudo but not the male one it would be two flies in one slap
Came out great! Always a pleasure working with you bro!
+Wireshark Gaming Me too ^^
I'll admit I'll never look at Ganondorf the same again
I don't think Ganondorf is good or bad ... He's ... human?
He, as the leader of an entire race, was intent on leading his people into prosperity ... but instead of trying the peaceful way (e.g. establishing a fruitful trade), he listened to his fears and chose violence ... Guess that makes sense, since he wields the Triforce of power and not wisdom ...
Elenor Corano he tried to trade but those *RACIST* hylians didn't want to
Sounds like liberal capitalist hippie bullshit
Elenor Corano be peaceful with the race that's responsible for genocide? Why wouldn't a kingdom that completely wiped an entire race off the face of a planet scare you or anyone really?
I feel like he just needs a hug
If you do it, then Demise will appear and ripping you appart for disowning him his "Puppet".
He just needs cuddles and some love.
Well, to me Ganondorf isn't Demise. BUT the beast inside him "Ganon" is the reincarnation of Demise. This is what I'll explain in the part 2 of my 3D animation "Ganondorf Dragmire" :)
+RwanLink Looking forward to that!
+M. Productions great theory also. i love how you use the theme to princess mononoke.
+RwanLink Oh, you're continuing that project? :D
+RwanLink That's what i thought before Skyward Sword came out.
Totally agree!!!
And that proves Ganondorf is better than Hyrule's Royal Family. Ganondorf ruled for many years at many different times yet never killed off all the Hylians like the Hylians did to the Gerudo and Sheikah.
+KingLink95 I really don't think that the Hylians killed off the Gerudos and Sheikah. I think the Interlopers were a faction, not a race. They were collected from all the races of Hyrule. not just the Sheikahs. And while I do think their was a war between the Hylians and the Gerudos, I think it's highly unlikely the the Gerudos were wiped out. Banished yes, but not wiped out.
Still don't think they were wiped out. Won't change my mind.
+Kyle Broadbent check my loose comment. the gerudo were never wiped out, idk where the fuck people are getting their "facts." Theories are one things, but if it has an official canonical response, THAT is fact.
*False.* The Gerudo & Sheikah were _never_ "wiped out" by the Hylians.
The Gerudo are still around in games past Twilight Princess, and the Sheikah -slowly died out with constant fighting against other armies.- (Scratch that, actually. The Sheikah are still around just like the Gerudo.)
^
You can encounter *_several_* Gerudo in Four Swords Adventures, for example, which takes place much later in the Child Link Timeline. The declining Sheikah people are kept alive by *_Impa_* herself, who is a Sheikah descendant.
+White Raven and as I said in my loose comment, there are no Gerudo in TP because of breeding - it has been officially stated. Gerudo past TP in the time line are most likely half Gerudo who are simply respecting their heritage.
Well, in Wind Waker they basically confirm he wanted to take Hyrule so his people could prosper rather than face deathly on a daily basis in the desert, so yeah. Dude's got my support.
way death that lie if he want has peoe to lvi ehe wodo just made wsiht hey could live in hyurel with out being taken out he wotn kill poeoe he tak ove frot hwe wood kill Zelda dad you kill zeld dad good I dont
@@ssjgotenks2009 Uh what.
signerleo snyder I’m just confused. What?
@@ssjgotenks2009 wtf?
"Is Ganon evil or misunderstood?"
I mean, technically, every "evil" person can be seen as "misunderstood."
I don't think any person is inherently evil, but their motives might not align with society's view of morality. Ganon wanted peace and prosperity for his people. We simply play from the point of view of the Hylians, who seek to survive.
What if we played from the POV of the Gerudo? Starving, impoverished people who spend their lives struggling to stay alive on burning sands under a hot sun, just neighboring a beautiful green land filled with wealth and an uppity race who take their wealth for granted and look down upon the Gerudo race. And you, the strong young man of destiny - the single male gerudo born every 100 years - must be the one to save your people from dying out. You must show those racist nobles that your race is not one of dirt and filth and deception, but of pride and survival, and that you don't deserve to be forgotten and left to die by them.
But that's just my look on these things. I love how Nintendo has developed the land of Hyrule because it opens up speculation and discussion such as this. It's awesome.
You just put all my thoughts into words
Your comment is beautiful, i enjoyed every part of it. I didn´t know that much of Ganondorf´s origin, i always thought "he looks like Gerudo people". And it´s true, there´s no 100 % evil villains (unless we´re talking about a demon or Satan or whateves). Like Magneto from X-MEN, he wanted the very best for mutants and didn´t care about humans, and he know pretty much the way of how humans treats the mutants, similar veowpoint with Ganondorf.
I agree
Thanks for the feedback you guys :)
+Sammy Matyas Very good point. Can we totally rule out the idea that the raw power provided by the Triforce might have corrupted him, though? Or maybe it wasn't even tied to the Triforce itself. Maybe his motives started out as "I want to save my people," but he slowly started to shift more towards the idea of revenge against the Hylians. And by the time he got to where he could get that revenge, he'd let the hate fester in his heart for so long that he no longer remembered the good intentions he started out with. Instead, he's just this being overcome with rage and hatred and hell-bent on extracting revenge.
maybe they should make a game where you play through ganondorfs story and take over hyrule
By far the best editing I have seen from you, Andy! Great theory :)
Commonwealth Realm ANDY!!!! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂👈👉💦 that's great
Let's be honest. If everything in Hyrule descended from the small population of Skyloft, we're talking a LOT of inbreeding here...

Wow. Seriously guys thanks for uploading this. Until now I always found Ganandorf incredibly boring, just pure evil incarnate. Now there's some depth to the poor sod. Excellent work.
I searched for this specific video because I was feeling nostalgic. I remember taking a road trip with my wife when we first got married and listening to your videos the whole way. I’m so happy and excited to hear that you are back. I know this is an old video, but it’s still probably my favorite one on this channel, and I wind up showing it to everyone that I spark up a Zelda based conversation with. You are a true legend, and the internet was truly more empty without you!
Congrats friend. This video has topped everything I've seen!
I understand now why they chose Calamity Ganon to appear in Breath of the Wild. Ganondorf would not work as an antagonist. In short, Ganondorf would have no real reason to cause such destruction. The Gerudo are a part of the Hyrule Alliance in Breath of the Wild. The Hyrule Alliance in Breath of the Wild's 100 years ago time were a collection of seven tribes living in harmony with each other under the Hylian banner. Ganondorf's people, the Gerudos, were one of those tribes.
That was an awesome theory video, I also liked the music you chose to use, it really set the tone for the theory and Ganondorf's tragic story.
Brilliant video boys and really well made! Always love a good Zelda theory from this channel!
Awesome video guys, Ganondorf is such an interesting character. Both in TLOZ TP and WW, his character got a lot of depth. Let's hope that this good trend continue in the next game
Amazing theory. I wish the guys at Nintendo could watch these. The closest we got to a good villain was in Wind Waker.
This channel is so underrated, 46k subs is underwhelming for content this good.
A new Zelda theory video! I love these. Always happy when a new theory video crops up from any of you guys.
What our Ganondorf truly is.
Is a tragic hero of his own story, despite his relations to Demise absolute destruction is not the only thing our King of darkness knows. In Wind Waker he shown mercy to Link on two occasions and was overall less destructive than his OoT incarnation. If he really was just trying to do good then he could of gone a less violent route to achieve his goals, such as befriending the Zoras, Kokiris, and Gorons to establish trades and maybe convince them to give their Spirit Stones.
xxChainingHeartsxx He's not a bero. He tries to conquer hyrule.
@@Hilda_ogden Were you paying attention to the video? Didn't you listened that the hylians committed two genocides?
Ganondorf certainly is the King of Disrespect.
*King of the gerudos
+You Who Chose Godhood You don't get it....
+You Who Chose Godhood How long have you played Smash?
I have been playing smash almost all of my life. I do not understand why many people use the term "king of disrespect" when Ganondorf is in fact, the king of the Gerudoes (or sometimes referred to as the King of Evil).
You Who Chose Godhood it's because disrespect is a term in fighters for not letting an avoidable attack come out. You disrespected him because you have punched him while he was doing that risky move. Ganondorf is all about the punishes. He's a slow character that can barely combo so he has to rely on his reads, punishes and weak tactics from the opposition hence why he's called the king of disrespect. It's a Smash thing not a Zelda thing.
okay, that shot at the beginning, the one of Ganondorf riding his horse to "Mononoke-Hime" was beautiful.
This is a great theory, very well explained. Keep it up!
Great video! Fantastic music choice. Ashitaka Sekki really fits the videos theme of corruption and desperation.
I just happened to check your channel M for new video's and I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed it and I will be checking out part 2 of this series. However I wanted to point out something ( and if it's already been pointed out then I am sorry for repeating it.)
When watching you describe the Hylian &Gerudo goddesses I noticed something at 3:27 to be sure I finished the video and went back to it. The TriForce symbol above the SpiritTemple looks inverted, with the center being more pronounced and the three other piece looking almost like slots. TO ME at least, the way the center is highlighted seems to make it a piece of the TriForce in its own right. Perhaps the missing center piece that you've mentioned in one of your previous video sometime last year. Also around 14:46 both the 3 main TriForce pieces and the center piece seem to glow on Ganondorf's hand. (An interesting thought too, depending on HOW to look at it, the TriForce mark on his hand can be either the normal piece or the center one.)
Another thing that got me thinking in this video is the separation between the two Skyloft groups. No matter how I try to rationalize it, I honestly don't think that the Skyloft descendants who became the Gerudo would willingly go to the desert to start a new life. As stated in the video, the wind brings death, both day and night. The Gerudo people are relatively poor as far as natural resources are concerned.(Yet rich in Rupee's... don't forget that tidbit.) It is my belief that Skyloft/Gerudo Descendants were exiled to the deserts by the Skyloft/Hyrule Descendants. Whether it be because of different belief's concerning the Goddess or another reason entirely... something just doesn't sit right with me.
Anywho that's just my take from this video... I could be wrong. Nevertheless I enjoyed this and I learned a lot! Please keep up the good work! I can't wait for another video!!
Demise met his
demise
Poor ganondorf. One day maybe, we'll get a game that is about him, where we play as him, as he does everything he can to save his people, and possibly to end the curse of Demise.
wow, this makes me see Ganondorf with a completely different perspective :o
this is like a summary of all of your previous theories from the eyes of Ganondorf. and it works
You just verbalized what I always thought! And the editing! Bravo!
That detail of he refusing to kneel... Amazing.
I think that we should remember that Din chosed Ganondorf as the only one worthy to wear her part of the Triforce. He is actually as special as Zelda or the Hero of Time... He touched the Triforce in one timeline and the mark remained even in other timelines.
He is, somehow, another chosen hero...
did anyone notice how weird he said is ganondorf, good? lmao
man its been a wait, thanks for uploading this vid!
Where is the Zelda footage of the different tribes fighting and Bongo playing he's drums from?
This theory is pretty good, but there is something there are some things to add
When we're talking about Ganondorf, we are also talking about Ganon, and yes they are separate personalities. Ganondorf is the King of the Gerudo that you have been talking about for this entire video, but Ganon is the literal incarnation of Demise, and is the result of Ganondorf being afflicted with the Curse of Demise. Another thing to note is that Ganondorf is unaware that he has the Curse of Demise except in the Adult Hero Timeline (Wind-Waker). It is true that Ganondorf utilizes his dark powers that the Curse of Demise grants him to transform into Ganon on multiple occasions, but Ganondorf does not know he is hard-coded evil (except in Wind-Waker). Ganondorf and Ganon are two personalities that are constantly fighting each other, Ganondorf strives to find a better life for his tribe, while Ganon seeks revenge on the Goddess Hylia. These two motives merge together during Gerudo-Hylian War and Ganondorf's invasion of Hyrule during The Era with no Hero (Adult Link Timeline). In Wind-Waker this clash of motives really shine through when Ganondorf reveals his motives. On one hand he wants to bring his tribe out of the desert and into the Hylian lands, but on the other hand Ganon demands the demands control destruction to everything to do with the Goddess of Hylia (hence why he killed the sages and took over Hyrule castle yet did not reside there). Ganon and Ganondorf can be represented by light and dark as well. Ganondorf claimed the Tri-force of Power, which is a golden power, yet Ganon wields the evil power of Demise. This is highlighted when in Twilight Princess he refers to himself as the "King of Light and Shadow". However, in Wind-Waker Ganondorf is unique compared to any other Legend of Zelda game with the Curse of Demise (all of them because where there is a hero, the curse follows) because Ganondorf is made aware that he has the Curse of Demise when he is refused the Tri-Force at the end of the Era With No Hero, although the Tri-force is supposed to be able to be claimed by any man. So in Wind-Waker, we actually don't see Ganon at all, not even as the final encounter. Some speculation might deduce that Ganondorf resented having his actions twisted into evilness by Ganon suppressed Ganon for the entirety of the game, or that he tried to dispel Ganon from himself which resulted in the creation of Puppet Ganon and the Phantom Ganons (a twist of irony with Puppet Ganon if that theory is true because Ganondorf is controlling Ganon for once instead of vice versa) or that he spent much of his energy prior to the final confrontation with Link atop his tower confining Ganon inside him (which would explain why Ganondorf was relatively easy in Wind-Waker), or maybe he didn't suppress Ganon at all and the only reason we didn't see him was because Link stuck a long piece of godly metal through his skull before he could work himself up to transform into Ganon, who knows. We do know is that Ganondorf was much more human like in Wind-Waker, and the scene atop his tower before the final fight was a lot like a man looking back on his past instead of some stereotypical villain showing off his power, he even shows mercy to Link atop the tower, refusing to kill him. I theorize the Ganondorf wanted the Tri-force only to return Hyrule to its former state while Ganon wanted to rule the land as well. Anyways, I hope I didn't make any mistakes. I'm not a walking Hyrule Historia after all
One problem with your theory of Ganondorf wanting his people to have a better life. In Ocarina of Time's adult era, Ganondorf held control over all of Hyrule. However, he didn't invite his people to settle there. Instead, while Ganondorf ruled lush, fertile Hyrule, his people remained in the hellish Gerudo desert to struggle and suffer as they've always done. Why? To me, that speaks against his actions being for his people's sake.
Awesome observation, it forms a good argument...but one could say that Ganondorf was simply waiting for the right moment. He was aware of Link's presence, and knew that he'd have to take him on eventually. Ganon's victories thus far had gotten the better of him, ruling 2 kingdoms now, and he met his end after underestimating his final enemy. It could also be considered that there was influence from Demise after conquering Hyrule. It warped him, made him feel on top of the world, on top of Hylia and all of Skyloft, but subconsciously. It would sure explain why he's cocky enough to play an organ while his accursed rival makes his way towards the final confrontation that will decide the fate of everything the Gods/Goddesses had worked for up to this point while Hylia's descendant herself is captured and watches as the fate of many several dreams and lives are put at the forefront!!! *Gasp*...*Exhales*...Yeah.
+Lunavarion Hey, there's also the fact that in the timeline where the Hero fails to defeat Ganondorf and he continues as Ganon, there is no sign of the Sheikah anywhere within the kingdom anywhere within the timeline.
Am I the only one who wants a Sheika Stealth game?
no, you are not the only one :D
Shiekah Gaiden? YES PLEASE!
During E3 2016 Myamoto did say he had been exploring the idea of a Spin off where you play as Sheik!
Joey W. You pretty much got it
UA-cam Dweller yeah cause the we can get a link that is a zora
Ganonondorf did what he thought he had to. The Hylian royal family are dark and sinful people who murdured many for their own gain, turning the ruined countries that killed into torture grounds, and when the darkness becomes too much, they hide it and never speak a word of it. Ganonondorf had every right to feel the way he did, and I think if Zelda knew the dark sins her family had done, she might have come to understand Ganondorf and make things right. If you think about it, the triforce is holy and sacred, when it broke, it went to the most fitting beings, Zelda, Link, and Ganon. If Ganon was truly evil at heart, the trieforce could possibly deny him him.
When Ganon has gone through all of that, dying with a mass of hatred towards the hylians, it's only natural that the next Ganonondorf that Bates Denise's curse, would start to be nothing but evil, as he becomes a beast of hate, losing his original reason to fight.
Ganondorf if good and missunderstood. The royal family and the goddesses are sick, twistsed, and evil. I feel bad knowing Zelda is a part of that family, unaware of those dark deads...and when she does find out, think of the guilt she must hold for what her family had done over the years?
I believe in Ganondorf. I pray for the day he is able to live in peace.
Also, Ghirahim's sword form looks a lot like the master sword and even has a triforce on it. I feel like that means something
I kind of speculated about that the last time I played Wind Waker actually. For some reason it felt like his methods weren't true evil to me when I revisited it.
Where is the additional footage showing the war and Bongo from? Is it a fan-made video series or a fan-made game, or just snippets created by M?
what about the fact that in OoT, at death mountain, ganondorf awakened the dragon and was committing genocide against the gorons?
Love this theory man lots of detail was really great!
This was your best video yet man.
He's just a leader. Trying to rule the only way he knows how.
This video was nothing short of brilliant! Loved it!
Theory: Hylians Freakin' Suck
This is a great theory guys. This might have something to do with why Link in Wii U is a Gerudo. That too is a theory, but going by his gauntlets are identical to Ganondorf's in Ocarina of Time.
This was always how I saw Ganondorf, and also why Demise's resolve at the end of SS felt like a huge middle finger, since it just felt as though it took a relatable antagonist, and just turned him into a predestined villain of prophecy. As for Ganondorf's resolve, when playing WW, I didn't actually want to kill him, I thought it was wrong...but I guess the cycle of life and death continues.
Great video, but sort of just a compilation of some of the other theories you've discussed in other videos. I still think assuming that the shadow temple was created solely by the hylians is a stretch, though.
I don't subscribe to channels very often, but with seeing this video and your "Link's Darkest Secret" video, you've convinced me.
+TheF1nalResistance I mean holy shit, Ocarina of Time came from an era of gaming in which there were few descriptions and little lore to go on, but you guys have done a great job piecing it all together. I spent so much of my childhood examining the world of OoT, but so many things never made sense to me, because back then games didn't necessarily spell out the vaguer aspects of their story-lines.
The sheer number of times I've gone "OHHHHHHH so THAT's what that was all about." is amazing. Like, the carpenters presence in Kakariko? Why Ganondorf was bowing to the king? Why the Shiekah were practically extinct? Why the Shadow Temple was...the fucking Shadow Temple? Bongo Bongo's actual identity? I mean, shit, you've identified an OoT temple boss, whose role in the story was basically unknown, as more than just, "The dark spirit that dwells within..."
Anyways, yeah. I'd love to see more of your videos about Zelda, and if you can cook something like *this* up about other classic games, then you have great things ahead of you.
+TheF1nalResistance Okay, so maybe Bongo Bongo's origin was revealed elsewhere; I didn't know that, but my past statements still stand.
You should really do an extensive analysis of Ganondorf. Like he's generally seen as a bad guy, but all he wants is the best for his people, and he's young in Oot but in wind waker he's lived for a long time. like he's matured and evolved into this person that I would consider wiser than the king of Hyrule. He talks about how all he wanted was the best for his people and shows you his true intentions and goes on to fight Link not because he wants to, but because he realizes his fate. Like honestly, he's easily the deepest character in the game and a really long extensive look at him and all his roles would be very cool.
the more accurate description is "is he fully evil?" or "without demise, would hd be the same?"
just because there were reasons doesn't mean he's good. but i really love this theory none the less. Ganondorf should be much more than "im the bad guy"
Would be interesting to see the Hero in a new Zelda to be a Gerudo instead of a Hylian...
one question if Ganondorf wanted to save his people than why in Oot do the Gerudo stay in the desert when he actually does take over Hyrule wouldn't they occupy the new Hyrule?
+Mike Hawk The Gerudo said he betrayed them... my guess is that he may have started with such intentions, and then when he got the triforce, the power went to his head. That, or the Gerudo people just didn't know what to do with themselves in this other land.
+Sab I Am no, only nabooru is disloyal to ganondorf in OoT, she sees that the power has gone to his head. but it's likely that the gerudo people simply are so used to the desert that even though they have hyrule they wouldn't want to live there due to the drastic difference in climate. they likely get shipped supplies from hyrule however to better sustain themselves
+Mike Hawk Because they've lived in the desert for 500 years. Only 7 years have passed in that time.
I had the same question. Actions speak louder than words.
Please don't use logic it's just a game.
Wow... This was amazing. It just makes me want the tv series and/ or an epic film based on this game. There is just so much amazing lore and would fit television or cinema perfectly.
I loved the Princess Mononoke and Castle in the Sky music you guys used :3
Your theory has definitely made me rethink Zelda.
13:20 Ganondorf didn't survive the execution due to his hatred, he survived due to having the Triforce of Power.
In OOT Ganondorf is destroyed as Ganon's tower falls collapses taking his body with it, he resurrects with the ToP.
In TP, Link had been sent back by Zelda and the 3 didn't know they had their triforce pieces, Ganondorf is executed and he resurrects with the ToP.
I'd love a Zelda game where you play as a Shiekah or Gerudo
Or like, create your own character, providing you all the known races to choose from with a short backstory for each sorta like Dragon Age or something. It would be interesting.. At least to me.
That would be cool.^^^
Personally,
I would love to see a game, where you can play as your own character, as well as Link...Have each person placed in different locations of Hyrule, and a set of scenarios/conflicts, which separate each character
(for example, the war). At the end of the main quest, the player should have the ability/freedom to choose between each character, and venture the lands of each province...Which opens up the opportunity of experiencing side-quests, more classical temples, and/or gaining items; Only obtainable through spontaneous travel. Almost like an Open World environment, similar to Skyrim, The Witcher, Breath of the Wild...or, GTA V...Where the player has the choice to play as Trevor, Michael, or Franklin, and experience their lives at any time...However, that only in the Hyrule realm, with original, or even created, characters.
That would certainly open up the opportunity for a
'replay ability.' More people would roleplay, and establish their own world of characters, whose stories could differentiate, depending on the gamer's choice.
However, that's merely a thought...
According to you, here's the conclusion :
Gerudo(s) = Gentle(wo)men
Hylia(n)s = Villains
15:23. That phrasing by Demise. Could it be implied that both the descendants and the incarnation of Demise are doomed to suffer this fate?
Really awesome video. I really like the topic of Ganondorf being good. I think you should consider doing a video on The new Zelda U about Link possibly being friends or somehow related to Ganondorf. The square design that Link has on the cloths in he's wrist is very similar to Ganondorfs desing in is wrist and greaves in ocarinas design, so I believe that this points out to Link growing up in Gerudo at least. And Aunuma said that Ganondorf will appear in the game but will not be the main villain, so its all speculation but I think that maybe we might see and epic story about Ganondorf being friends or Links adoptive father or mentor or something and he will eventually have to fight he's inner demons. its all speculation on my part but I'm sure this new link Comes from Gerudo.
I always thought the Goddess of Sand was a reference to Din since she made the Earth, she’s represented as being the color red, the power piece of the triforce, and majority of the Gerudos wear red. When the Deku Tree in OOT it shows the entrance to the Gerudo Desert in reference to Din creating the land.
I'd like to think that during the 100 years Zelda is fighting the Calamity, she encounters the spirit of Ganondorf within it and he helps her contain the hatred that's now separated from what was his true, original spirit. In turn, she frees him after thousands of years of possession by Demise.
Theres another thing. Most point a conection between Groose and the Gerudo. Not only that but the fact that the story has been always between Zelda, Link and Ganondorf. For Gandondorf he might be a cursed Groose by Demise as he had no proctection unlike Link and Zelda and he also helped defeat him and would be a punisment of him fighting the decendandts of his former friends
+Haseo55 Fuck that that'll ruin Ganondorf and the Gerudo for me to think that their a descendant or somehow relatable to that twat
no ganondfo is nto gorse goroso is nto gurdo
great job on the music it makes it seem so real and sad.
Here is another thought: Why did the Gerudo settle in the desert in the first place? It's not like it slowly became a desert over time, it was already resource poor in Skyward Sword. It had some technology, but all of it depends on the timeshift stones which could only work one at a time. What was the benefit of choosing that bit of land?
Then why is ganondorf ruling a hyrule inhabited by redeads. While the gerudos are still sitting in the bloddy desert in Oot?
He became power-hungry, which entirely clouded his judgement, and, thus, desired utter chaos. He dreaded Hyrule, and through his hatred, he became corrupt.
i think gannon was always bad cause of demise but at the begining he had good intentions but the hatred in him drove him to be the gannon he is now, the gannon that awaoke the triforce of power and almost caused to downfall of the kingdom
+Saturn AJ The same way that Link was just a little kid until he was awakened by the power of the Master Sword, and then driven to fight Ganondorf on all fronts. One is fueled by the ultimate incarnation of hatred and the other is fueled by the ultimate power of creation, destined to resist each other indefinitely.
Ragnar Earthwarden YEAH... but the wy you said was alot more complicated XD
this gives a totally new perspective to Links anthagonist. the desert king now an interesting charctrr thanks to you guys
man, this is your best video by far
I always thought it was more plausible that the Gerudo's Sand Goddess is actually Din, the goddess of Land and Earth, especially since Din represents the Triforce of Power which is wielded by Ganondorf, a Gerudo.
This was fantastic. Holy crap. If I could sub a second time, I would :D!
Awesome guys this was one of the best theory videos I have ever watched. I love this stuff guys keep it coming. Zelda 4 Life!!
I'm not sure if you brought this up in the video (I just need to ask before I forget the question) But could there be some odd connection with the fact that the desert biome originally existed inside the Lanayru providence, but shifted to a new area over time. And the fact that the desert goddess statue has a snake around it, the spiritual guardian of the Lanayru providence.

Entertaining. :) I love the games. An antagonist is typically so because of the feelings/beliefs of the protagonist. If the story was from Ganondorf's perspective, Link and Zelda would be the evil ones... The trope of a "Dark Lord" wants "darkness" for "dark reasons" i.e. covering the lands in darkness... never really makes sense. It is nice to see a different POV. Thanks for the video!
He is a necessary evil. Where Link is a necessary Good and Ganon is a necessary evil. It is a balance.
As long as Link is around Ganon will return. If Ganon returns Link will be there.
I always liked the gerudo, I was sad that they weren't in twilight princess. It would be interesting for them to put more of ganon's backstory and the lore of the gerudo in some of the next games, letting the player explore this theory :)
That Mononoke Soundtrack, for some reason it fits the Gerudo Tribe.
you have the best videos on nintendo game lore and mythology
Do a theory or something on the mirror of twilight, maybe where it could of possibly been located before ocarina of time.
Don't think I didn't notice those songs from Star Wars: Republic Commando.
Good music choice.
HOLD UP... You're using my remix of a song OMG
OMg I'm just.. wow XDD
This explain the sudden views of the song. Thankyou
Guys, I have to say that Ganandorf probably did not grow up in hardship, seeing that rupees are abundant within the pots you break. Teehee, just a wrench in the gear...love this theory, but how can you discount the wealth of riches so plentifully found within the desert? Or, am I so far removed from the last time I played these games that I don't remember there were none? KEEP MAKING VIDEOS!!!
Lol, I misheard "a young Gerudo" for "a younger Rito" and was really confused for a brief moment.
This somehow connects with Shadow Sly's backstory because he wants peace and harmony for his people from his nemesis Dark Phantom. Besides both sides Sadiarian and Raciotians have separate cultures. On average both sides wanted to rule the world or perhaps the Zrithan continent. Then a civil war began, during that war the Dulkier-Triscoldian kind nearly went extinct by the Raciotians.
This is my opinion upon this video about Ganondorf's tale that's connected with Shadow Sly's tale.
7:03 .. Adult Link in Oot is 17 . Goes back and forth 7 years
I have a new appreciation for Ganondorf after watching this. I've always thought he wasn't totally evil, but now I say I'm even more convinced of it. Ganondorf is a man of honor. His story is not one of black and white. I'd like to see a side of Ganondorf who just wanted peace between the races (doubt that will happen lol).
I like the idea of another power being behind it all... Demise?... King of Hyrule? (I'd like a game where king Hyrule is evil and Zelda and Link have to team up with Ganny to save Hyrule).
How do you explain away the fact that Ganondorf can't touch the Master Sword along with the fact that it is the only thing that can kill him while he has the Triforce of Power?
From what game are the gerudo / ssheikah battles and the mysterious sheikah bongo? (Human version)
+TommyDaGreatest I want to know the same thing D:
***** Nope. I finished that game and it's not from there.
Never heard of that. Does it even exist? :P
+TommyDaGreatest Nope. It's a Fan-Made game, so it is not nearly canonical.
Is the music in the background from princess mononoki or spirited away? Either of them?
what is all this background footage of Hylians fighting Gerudo and some Sheikah with Bongo? is that a game, and is it free?
Gilgamesh ,the treasure hunter holy shit! I WISH, maybe one day 🙏
I really want a Ganondorf focused spin-off game.
It should be noted that the fate of Ganondorf from Wind Waker and the fate of Ganondorf from Twilight Princess are two different Ganondorf's from separate timelines.
I always thought of Ganondorf as a hero. He was leading his country into dominance, a goal of any hero. That's why I really want Link and Ganondorf to be allies in the next game.
pretty interesting theory, but wasn't it somewhere mentioned that it ultimately was the assistance of the gerudos, who had been neutral until that points, what allowed the kingdom to finally win the war. if so that would kinda contradict your theory now, wouldn't it.
I think you're close, however, I think that Ganondorf began with good intentions and in desperation at facing the Hylian/Zora/Goron alliance he reached for whatever power he could and made a deal with whatever was left of Demise's spirit/power thinking he could resist it but ultimately losing out to the amplified destructive impulses.
I also don't think the Gerudo were entirely wiped out - I think they were the Twili's ancestors and instead of massacring them they were banished to the Twilight Realm while their King was sentenced to death (Midna's red hair remind you of anything?).The generational differences could be explained as there is no guarantee that time runs at the same speed in the Twilight Realm - afterall in Skyward Sword Link undergoes the Goddess' trials in a place rather similar to the Twilight Realm with a negligible amount of time appearing to pass in Hyrule - perhaps the mirror also regulates the flow between both places while it's active? Link entered the trials by playing a song - perhaps the mirror is a physical representation of the song? and keeps the passage open longer than a single playing of the sound thus aligning their timelines).
When Ganondorf resisted and killed the sage of water they resorted to banishing him along with the others and Link followed to protect the Twili from their now insane and very powerful King with the help of Impa.
