You need to do the North Island.... The two islands are completely different geologically... From Auckland to The Coromandel, Bay of Plenty , East Cape, Gisborne to Napier, Napier to Taihape through National Park, down The Forgotten Highway to New Plymouth then back up SH3 / SH4 to Taumarunui to Taupo to Auckland..
It’s definitely on the list. If it’s half as impressive as the South Island we will have a ball. We are already working on the return visit. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
The North Island roads are much better then the South,and up the top,the scenery is quite beautiful.

Nice to hear such positive reviews of your trip. Been a bit grim here the last few years. Good to be reminded of how great NZ is.
Definitely a beautiful place
Someone suggested to you a ride from Fernhill,over the Gentile Annie to Taihape,real North Island hinterland.But remember to gas up because you won’t find any servos on this road.Another suggestion is to do the loop road of a genuine strata volcano, the stunning Mount Taranaki/Egmont.You can go for a burst,thru native rainforest,to the Mountain House for a dinkum full course meal.Some words of caution:don’t let your gaze be distracted by that big hunk of snow while your pedalling your bike.

I thought Canada is 'grouse' riding (what does that mean?). No, not at all. NZ is soo where it's at! I've now moved here with the family. Amazing place!

Hey Kelvin, mate we discussed Trikes a few episodes ago and said we would definitely like to feature them in the show. We are working on taking a HD Tri-Glide for a test ride as neither of us have ridden one before but are keen to try. So in answer to your question, sure we are working on it. Im an expat Kiwi living in Brizzy, I've been riding since 1978, and now, in my early mid-60s, my daily drive is a ZX14R.
I dont own a car because driving is a chore. I hate it.
In Brizzy we have Mt Tamborine, Nebo, Samson....etc
😂😂 they're just hills.
But what miss about NZ is they dont drop the speed limit to 60 when the twisties start.
Unlike here.
In NZ, if you see a sign with a diagonal slash, it means it's open to 100 kays, now if it starts to have switchbacks, sweepers and everything in between 😂😂 ahh heaven.
You guys should tour the North Is.
There is a road called the "Paras"
Its from National Park to Whanganui, and before it starts it has a sign saying, "Warning 74 kilometres of winding roads" and the best part is the speed limit 100.
And thats just one road of many...

Missed some of the show. Would you suggest at least 4 weeks to ride around New Zealand & see lots of things, including the Bert Munro Challenger? If so, do you suggest taking your own bikes over? Or hiring?
Hey Micah, mate 4 weeks would be huge. We were there two and I’d recommend at least another 5.
Cost to ship a bike over and back is about $2300 so definitely worth considering.
Remember we only did the South Island. I’ve never been to the North Island but it’s on the cards.
Whether to hire would depend on what bike you wanted to hire. As we said @$350 a day it adds up quick.

Tassie is a beautiful place but the South Island is incredible
only been on a road bike a couple years but the best roads i have been on in the south are the pigroot and Macraes road which will take you through the middle of a gold mine wont have the views but the road is so good with f all traffic
