When I look at the repairs you do... I'd look at it and have no idea where to start. Rust repair is a skill ( almost an art form ) that few can do well. Amazing work.
Who would have thought that a floor jack and a 2X4 could be used as metal shaping tools! Using what you have on hand to get the job done is inspired thinking my friend.
A set of rollers and small press break would help you fabricate those small pieces a lot more efficiently. However you do an incredibly job. I’ve been in sheet metal all my working life and did my apprenticeship with a panel beater how could do amazing things with a hammer.
I like this video series. This is the way I make panels. Drawing, scribing, cutting, & bending right in the vehicle. I worked at a shop that brought a kid in that spent his day, drawing everything out in CAD, then running it through the CNC plasma table. Apparently, the shop likes modern technology, so I no longer work there. Oh, we'll. At least I know this kind of fabrication is still being done
My man, you're gentleman and a scholar! This will restoration will be one for the ages!! Can't believe the amount of holes in this poor chassis.. 😞 Looking forward to the next vid.
Makes a change I can watch this all the way through instead of skipping as I work nights and you always seem to release new vids just before I have to go to work ! 20:00 -> 05:00
Artigianato puro! Complimenti per il grosso restauro in corso! Apprezzo il traduttore automatico del video anche se ogni tanto dice parole a caso tipo ( calore, calore, bim bum, eh 🤣 ) questo però non mi aiuta ad imparare l inglese . Ciao!
Nice panel repair there, the sills must be the most difficult panel repairs on such a rusty vehicle, because of the door gap and the sill is holding all that weight above. One chomp at a time and the whole elephant will be done......"badda bim, badda ba". Lol🐞
Great work Ryan, can i ask, as you've been opening up box sections and multi layered areas it looks like the metal is untreated/not painted in any way, would that be because the cars being mainly hand built no painting or rust prevention happened until the bodyshell was complete?
the more you do .the less there is left to do. Amazing work bringing a classic like this back to life amazing orange one at Bonhams cars/ sports coupe chasis No l10A-10419
Personally when ever i buy a car i obviously check for rust , then treat it using rust converter or fish oil and i check that my drain holes are clear at the bottom of my doors etc youve obviously have the skill to fix it good luck with it
Great video. Love seeing all the detailed work, takes me back to the old Suzuki videos. Yorkshire car restttorraations. Can i ask does replacing panels in small sections welded together have any disadvantages over using a one piece replacement panel? Strength etc?
So for every 20 minutes of screen time that's like 8 hours of work? Every corner of the suspension supports, both rockers, floors, trunk, fenders(wings), rear quarters, lots of layers...so maybe 150 hours of fab time, that's $15kusd for a completed metal shell. Not completely insane. There is still tons of upside on this little gem! Good stuff!
Amazing work! Genuine question though, with this level/quantity of patchwork, how likely is it that rust will return again in a significantly shorter time?
you just make me smile everytime with your comical intro, great channel, just hate to see you not protecting thoses eyes all the time, you need to think more about that..
Question: with so much Metal being replaced, is it really still a Mazda cosmo? Or is it like that one boat from the saying where it isn't the original thing anymore?
What happened to the BMW E24.....It's been a while since I've seen any updates. I understand that it's not easy to have so many projects going on. It's probably demanding. But the question is. Will we see more of the amazing E24?
you should call this car father cosmo as it’s so hole…ly 😂 😂 I admire your drive dude I know this is what you do and you are a top drawer fabricator but you must scratch your head sometimes on jobs like this ..great job 👍
I had an uncle who back in the 80’s boasted he could weld body filler to rust in his business of dodging up old cars. This is a different level of work though
I thought the Datsun and mats BMW were the worst rust buckets I'd ever seen but I think the Cosmo wins hands down. We totally need T-shirts with a disaster Datsun and catastrophe Cosmo on 😅
I'm glad to see the Cosmo again. You're doing the Lord's work restoring such a rare and significant Mazda.
The car is so holy it should be called the Cardinal Cosmo.
A job for papa ryanitus lll.
I would like to vote - Yes to this car's new name. Although by the end I hope its changed to Sinner Cosmo, as it will no longer be holy :p
On this car, even the rust has rust! What a daunting task you have undertaken Ryan, and sorry to say, there's definitely more to come! 😂😂
This car is a nightmare. Absolutely great respect for the work you are doing.
Absolutely a heroic endeavor.
When I look at the repairs you do... I'd look at it and have no idea where to start. Rust repair is a skill ( almost an art form ) that few can do well. Amazing work.
most people would be overwhelmed by this amount of rust.
Overwhelmed? I would have run out of the door screaming.
BLOODY HELL . she's in good hands thou. really enjoyed
I’ve never seen so much unmajesticness. But you are the man, Ryan.
Gran trabajo en el mazda, la traducción a español es genial, saludos desde Argentina.
You MUST save the pile of offcuts. That's going to be an amazing pile of rust. Impressive.
Wow, really not much left of this one, I suppose you have come this far, may as well see it through! Excellent work on such a complex repair.
Hats off to you for saving this . I watch loads of car restoration videos, this is by far the worst car for rust I’ve seen. Amazing work 👏👏👏👏
Who would have thought that a floor jack and a 2X4 could be used as metal shaping tools! Using what you have on hand to get the job done is inspired thinking my friend.
The car is holy, blessed with holes, but Ryan you will sort it out with your great workmanship".
I do love the technical phrases Ryan , 'swoopy swoop ' being my new favourite lol
It's the Boaty McBoatface of technical phrases
There aren't many cars you'd do this for but the Cosmo is a thing of joy and beauty. And I'm not even much of a rotary fan.
Really appreciate the amount of effort that goes into repairing these cars...it's excellent viewing and interesting 👍 great show 👏👏🍻
Wow that’s insane what you’ve uncovered at the front corner there
This makes me feel so much better about marching on with my rusty old KE70 😂
A set of rollers and small press break would help you fabricate those small pieces a lot more efficiently. However you do an incredibly job. I’ve been in sheet metal all my working life and did my apprenticeship with a panel beater how could do amazing things with a hammer.
I think they have both of those items. If they don't use them then I guess they know best.☺️
I do love a Cosmo video. Some great progress being made.

Really enjoying Ryans music during this repair 👍😎
One of my favorite cars on this channel. I have never seen one.
The dedication is amazing. Keep up the good work.
My man, you're gentleman and a scholar!
This will restoration will be one for the ages!! Can't believe the amount of holes in this poor chassis.. 😞
Looking forward to the next vid.
este proyecto es muy entretenido de ver ,un auto que va a llamar mucho la atencion cuando este terminado!
You guys are artists. Plain and simple.
Fantastic work, keep the updates coming 😎🤙
Great work.
I hope you feel a sense of achievement and satisfaction once the project is completed 👏
I certainly will on this one! I am very much looking forward to turning that key and driving it!!!
A lot of awesome work for a very very nice car
Nice progress...
Makes a change I can watch this all the way through instead of skipping as I work nights and you always seem to release new vids just before I have to go to work !
20:00 -> 05:00
It's amazing work you do👏
Thank you so much as always Colin! This car will be epic once back on the road!
Very clever piece of work 😊
Catastropheness 😅😅😅 love it, your doing a grand job, keep it up please 👍
Truly you are an artist and craftsman. Amazing.
O legal é ver tudo sendo reconstruído.
This one has overtaken Disaster D for being your best series, thanks will be amazing when finished.
That's a daunting task.
Brilliant as always 👍🏻🇬🇧
It's shell looks like a potential Pickup 😊
Great job.
Artigianato puro! Complimenti per il grosso restauro in corso!

Good Video

VERY Nice work 🎉

amazing orange one at Bonhams cars/ sports coupe chasis No l10A-10419
oh man! this car gets scaryer the further you dig into it ryan
Non vedo l'ora di vedere come farai a ricostruire quella parte visto che praticamente manca tutto. Buona fortuna 😂
Awesome car. But holy moly that shroud needs a clean out😳😳😳
Hey buddy bada Bing bada boom 💥 that was an absolute extremely good video buddy 👍 👏 👌 I'm very proud of you buddy
Thanks so much David, we are getting there :) hope you are well my friend!
@yorkshirecarrestoration I'm hanging in there not doing the best but not giving up. Good to hear from you it's been a while.
Die Leidensfähigkeit muß bei euch Grenzenlos sein, ich würde das Handtuch werfen.
Mazda made a lot more of these than people thought, problem was they rusted away before they could get them to the showrooms.
C'est du grand art...
Personally when ever i buy a car i obviously check for rust , then treat it using rust converter or fish oil and i check that my drain holes are clear at the bottom of my doors etc youve obviously have the skill to fix it good luck with it
what a teabag ! :D
Veo desde PUEETO RICO 😊
Fantastic content, why not have an open day, Tim Chesterfield
Great video. Love seeing all the detailed work, takes me back to the old Suzuki videos. Yorkshire car restttorraations. Can i ask does replacing panels in small sections welded together have any disadvantages over using a one piece replacement panel? Strength etc?
This corner has gone in rust, OMG, how will you remake it!!!!
Definition of a catastrophe, " a collection of holes held together with rust" , Ryan , I wish you the best of luck, you'll need it
So for every 20 minutes of screen time that's like 8 hours of work? I think somebody released the Hungry Caterpillar under that front wheel arch.
24:20 you just found the antimatter. You could build a copy car on the side and change it for this one and would be less work.
Amazing work! Genuine question though, with this level/quantity of patchwork, how likely is it that rust will return again in a significantly shorter time?
Interesting. You don’t see manufacturers using that metal lacework much anymore
24:00 the moment when you start to double question your decisions 😅
It almost looks like it lived in Southern Ontario! The rest of the cars here look like that at least! LOL
you just make me smile everytime with your comical intro, great channel, just hate to see you not protecting thoses eyes all the time, you need to think more about that..
Unmajesticness.. love it 😂
It's a Sunday car, it's holey!
Nice,trash to treasure.👍👍👍😎😎😎
👍
What weld thru primer do you recommend? I bought a copper one and its absolutely impossible to weld with
the paint is the only thing holding the rust together
So with absence of structure, will next episode include fabricating bracing on the inside like what you did for the 914?
This is like the ship of Theseus. By the end of the restoration, is it still the same car? 🤔
My Lord...soo much Cosmo in that Rust 😅
Ryan, two part primer first and sealer second.😢😅
At this rate, there might be less than 50% original metal left! Swiss cheese indeed!
Oh my god - you have to build the whole car - theres nothing left ...
One one of the last videos someone commented "Hand-built - twice". I think that's the best way to put it.
@@Ragnar8504 i agree
Question: with so much Metal being replaced, is it really still a Mazda cosmo? Or is it like that one boat from the saying where it isn't the original thing anymore?
😍👌
That's easy lol 😂 borderline pepper pot !
I guess it's not just me who knows by now more or less where the balabing balaboom is going to be.. 😂❤
What happened to the BMW E24.....It's been a while since I've seen any updates. I understand that it's not easy to have so many projects going on. It's probably demanding. But the question is. Will we see more of the amazing E24?
Its a shituation indeed. You are a brave man
You need a large glass of a good malt whisky 😊 to help with this trauma and some counselling
Так адски могла сгнить только мазда!
Даже опель не способен загнить!
В шредер ее конечно надо! 😆😂🤣
you should call this car father cosmo as it’s so hole…ly 😂 😂 I admire your drive dude I know this is what you do and you are a top drawer fabricator but you must scratch your head sometimes on jobs like this ..great job 👍
@notevn ... fancy another?
Series title: YCR and the Cosmo Catastrophe
Seeing this thing makes me think Tim's car wasn't all that bad😂
I had an uncle who back in the 80’s boasted he could weld body filler to rust in his business of dodging up old cars. This is a different level of work though
You should call the car Oliver, because when you open a panel for rust the car shows "MORE"
I thought the Datsun and mats BMW were the worst rust buckets I'd ever seen but I think the Cosmo wins hands down.
We totally need T-shirts with a disaster Datsun and catastrophe Cosmo on 😅
