  • The Jaguar XJ220 - so named for its target top speed of 220mph - was capable of reaching 217mph* in period. But after nearly 30 years since the first model rolled off that factory floor, has it still got it? Well Freddie Flintoff's hell-bent on finding out as he takes the XJ220 to over 200mph (indicated) on a runway.
    *Nearly, Jag. Nearly.

The Caveats there being that the lap in question was done by a prototype, and it wasn't independently verified so wasn't listed as an official "production car" record. Did the confirm it just by the car's speedometer or an a proper timer? The speedometer is not always accurate with older cars especially. Sometimes they can be off by as much as 10mph.
