I use sticks but never thought to do an X pattern.Great Idea. Thank you!
So glad it's helpful! Thanks for commenting 🥰
My goal in life is find a husband that is also into gardening as much as me, or at least willing to help lend a hand :D
Same🌞
The downside is real…..you want the hedge trimmed back from the sidewalk, he loves that hedge so he won’t let you touch it!
😅 ❤️
😂😂 oh bless it!
Good luck ❤
I think that even if one can see the wooden stakes you use, since they are so natural, they do not distract from the beauty of the plants at all. Thank you for sharing this kind of small tricks with us. Unless you have experience with gardening for some time, one might not think of such things.
I appreciate that! You know, it's easy to take for granted things that we always do and think that it's not really 'worth' putting it online. But we're trying to show all of the things that we do that are really normal for us. So glad you found this one useful! 🥰
Just stumbled on this video in my feed, thanks for this video. I went out to do my walk about and found 2 of my salvia literally flopped to the ground on my walkway. Found something for vines purchased from dollar store, looks horrible, your way is sooo much better. Now, when I find debris(sticks in my yard ) will know what to do with them. This is so simple and economical.
So glad that UA-cam brought us together :)
And if you do have sticks in your yard.. it's the best way to put them to good use. Hope it works for you, too!
Arthur Parkinson also stakes with wood, birch in his case. Of course I copied right away since it looks so good.
Your garden is gorgeous!
Well if it works for him, too! Then it's totally worth following :)
I love using sticks too. They just look more natural and blended into the surroundings.💜
100%! And… we don’t have to worry about lots of storage in the winter.
So lush and beautiful! Nice tip with simple material. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 🥰. We like this way because it’s super cheap (obviously) and the sticks blend in super nicely.
Brilliant..so simple but yet never thought of it!! Beautiful garden❤
Thanks ❤️. It’s always worked for us - and has saved us so much money over the years - plus we don’t have to find space to store metal supports all winter.
What a wonderful idea making an x with the sticks. Your garden is looking gorgeous. It always does.
That's so sweet of you. Thank you! And this is how we've always done it... we do love 'free' things you know ;) haha
I use the cuttings of my butterfly bush to stake my plants. I save a lot of them, smaller and bigger sizes. Those stakes have already sidebranches to hold plants with, so only need one per plant or even a group of plants.
Super great idea!
Genius gentlemen! I tied a string around hibiscus last year and have used metal tomato baskets on other tall perennials. Both ideas are unsightly.
I will definitely use your method in the future.
Thanks again!
Linda
We like this way... hopefully you can use it and adapt it to your garden, too. Thanks so much for watching with us!
Looks so much better than my expensive metal supports. Looks like it works better too!
Saves a lot of money that's for sure :)
That is an excellent trick, thanks for sharing! Your garden looks gorgeous as always. Happy growing 😊
Thanks so much! Happy gardening to you.. hope it's sunshine all week!
Look forward to each of your programs! Thank you.
Thank you so much, Mary 🥰. Hope you’re having a good weekend.
Your garden is looking so stunning! My Salvia is blooming too. I like the way you support it.
Thank you for commenting! It means a lot 🥰 Hope you have a great gardening week ahead!
Ôi vườn hoa của bạn đẹp quá trên cả tuyệt vời ,rất vui vì bạn đã chia sẻ ❤.
So glad you watched! Thanks so much.
I also use sticks, but hadn't seen them in an X before, thanks
You're so welcome, Aly! Glad the idea is useful :)
This is such a fantastic tip!!! Here in the UK plant supports are so expensive and I do not particularly like them. Cane's look so much nicer and are way more affordable!!! Thanks so much for sharing. Happy growing to you both x
Thanks for sharing! Plant supports are expensive here, too -- we've always just done it this way and it looks fine to us (and it works)... Plus, these are much easier to store in the winter than metal supports.
Loving your garden ❤
Thank you, Wayne! And thanks for commenting.
Great tip! I love your path❤
Thanks! We love it, too. Really frames the garden beds for us.
What a beautiful garden
Thank you so much!
The garden looks so nice. I am going to try the bamboo staking. It not only looks more natural but seems to work better than some of the metal frames that you can buy.
We like it... and it all just looks better to us. Plus, we don't have to deal with a bunch of metal storage all winter.
Looks beautiful! Great idea. ❤
Thank you for watching :)
Very useful idea and looks so natural
Thanks! It really does blend in... especially as the plant keeps growing.
Garden is gorgeous! A great idea for using natural material for staking the plants.
Thank you for watching 💚
Thank you, I love these simple ideas with natural materials!
Thanks! And it's cheap ;)
I like this idea. Thank you
You're very welcome, Diana 🥰
Great tips! Thank you!
Thank YOU for watching!
Thank you for sharing this! My garden is just beginning and I needed this info!
Super nice to hear! Thank you for watching.
Nice one, gents! Hadn't seen this kind of staking before. Have just used the technique to touch up a couple of front-of-border overhangs. Appreciate it!
So glad it's useful in your garden. Thanks for watching!
Happy I found you, lovely garden, great idea😊subscribed.
Thanks for subbing! We're glad you're here. Big hello from Denmark.
Great idea! And I think the sticks showing look good showing❤
We do, too! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment.
I get it now! A lovely idea.Thank you very much for showing us 😊
You’re welcome 😊 Thought it would be easier to show than my awful explanation to you the other day. haha
@@perennial-garden 😂 it wasn't bad, but this helps ME explain to my husband why those branches are lying around the yard 🤣
@@Lea-zf7lm hahaha. just send him the link 🤣
Fabulous- suvh a great way to stake floppy plants. Thank you so much for sharing. Happy gardening, guys 🙂
You're so welcome! Hope you have a sunny gardening weekend ahead, too!

You're so welcome! Hope it was useful.
Great tip thank you guys. I’ve never thought to cross the canes/sticks.
So glad you liked the idea! It's worked for us for seasons now.
Great idea. Will do my best to try the same trick.
Let us know if you have any questions :)
Love you guys! The tag team approach works really well. Have you considered sending a video into gardeners world?
🥰Thank you so much! We haven’t sent anything to Gardeners World - but we do love watching the reruns we get here on Danish TV.
LOVE the stick idea 🎉🎉🎉 ..........TFS ......love your videos 💚
You are so welcome! Hope you can do it in your garden too :)
@@perennial-garden I'll most certainly try 👌😄🥳

Good idea👍🏻
Hope you can use it, Nellie! Happy gardening this week 🥰
💚BEAUTIFUL 💚
Thank you! 😊 Greetings from Denmark.
Great idea with the bamboo, Its the bees knees.
Love that comment 😀🐝
Hello guys. Have you tried contorted hazel sticks? They look so beautiful in their own right, I'm not even bothered about trying to disguise them.
Also, you said you like soft jazz music. Have you heard the song Each and Everyone circa 1984, by Everything but the Girl?
Hope that you like it!! Karen from Glasgow xxxxxx
Vlad! We haven't... but I looked them up and WOW, they would be so pretty. And then you could bring them indoors in the winter in a big vase for decoration.
And we've heard it now! It's a good song. and now on our 'making dinner' playlist on spotify ;)
Hope you're having a great start to the week!
wow what a variety of flower plants, I don't even see grass if there is any, greetings😀😀
There isn't any grass.. at least not on purpose. :)
Tak for jeres rigtig god idé 🙂
det var så lidt!
💖💖💖💖💖💖 .. you have a little piece of heaven there ...
Thank you for that! We do love it here.
What a fabulous idea, I have some smaller roses that need support as they are flopping with the weight of their blooms. I have only just discovered your wonderful channel and will be back to watch more videos. Both of your knowledge of the English language is impressive, you do not falter, I cannot say the same if I tried to converse with you in your native tongue xx
AHHH..thank you! I'll pass on the compliment to Lars (he's Danish... I'm American, so hopefully my English is somewhat understandable... altho I did grow up in the south ;)
So glad you're here to watch with us!
@@perennial-garden oopsy 🤭 yes please pass on to Lars xx
@@saradensham1364 He says TUSIND TAK :) That means a thousand thank yous in Danish 🥰 He gets so worried about his English on these videos... but I always tell him it's totally fine. So I'm glad I have proof now :)
Cool. I'm curious what aggregate you have between the large edging stones?
We have them laid in sand and then sand in between them. We just use normal sand... I think the package in Danish is something like river sand or beach sand (I forget)... but just sand. Whatever was the cheapest at the building supply store ;)
The garden is beautiful as usual. Thanks for the staking tip. Do you have baptisia, and do you plant from the seed. Mine is loaded with seed pods.
We don’t have it at our home, but Lars does have it at his work - it’s just starting to flower there tho. Do you collect the seeds too?
I'm going to try planting the seed when they dry, have never tried before.
@@JamesWhite-yf2cw should be easy enough. let us know! I'll see if we'll do it once they go to seed at the cemetery garden.
Great video! Lord knows l have more than enough bamboo here❤❤😅😅😅😊
Start an online bamboo store! 🤩
I do this as well. Did the X with my Rose of Sharon. It’s so heavy with the many buds.
That plant does get heavy... but how great with so many buds 🥰
@@perennial-garden oh yes it is great. It’s always been beautiful and healthy but it’s only had one bloom until this year. I got it in 2019. It looked like a stick. lol I was so surprised and excited when I saw the buds this year. The X was something I started really by accident. I was just trying to keep it up and that’s how I fixed the situation. I made my own wigwams for sweet peas this year. It’s so beautiful but we’ve had so much rain that they are staying to wet. I wanted sweet peas so badly.
Your garden truly is a sight to behold.
@@heartofdixieprepping4797 It's super wet here these days, too. HOPEFULLY the sun will come out again soon.... but it is Denmark, so, you never know.
And I hope your sweet peas surprise you and show out anyway! Here's to hoping ;) 🥰
@@perennial-garden thank you so much. I hope so. They were beautiful in the greenhouse…but our weather is so crazy. We had a little sunshine ☀️ today. So nice, but it’s extremely hot. 🥵 one extreme to the other. And now it’s hurricane season. Have a great rest of the week and weekend ☺️
@@heartofdixieprepping4797 Oh bless! Stay safe and have a great weekend ahead, too :)
Lupins and Delphiniums, slug caviar..... how do you guys manage them with all this wet weather?!
Our plants are at a good size now.. so the big danger is over. We spend a lot of evenings hunting them when the plants are smaller tho. And on days where it rained a lot during the day. It takes time... but... it's all we've found that really works.
Your Garden is beautiful,, so green 💚 & your plants look really healthy . Wish I could 😪 grow Lupins like yours, mine get eaten😱 alive by Slugs what's your Secret.?❤
Our secret is that we hunt them down every night and every morning during this period of heavy rain. I wish we had a better way... but we've tried almost everything. Do you have any tips?
I have a beautiful Weigala not sure how to tame it , the shrub is about 3 years old ,sharing a picture
I bet it's beautiful!
@@perennial-garden it's beautiful thank you ....but can you please share some tips on how to manage Weigala
@@scindhiya We don't have that one. And it's not in the cemetery garden, either. So my experience with it would just be based on other shrubs. Here's a video from Garden Answer, she probably has this in her garden: ua-cam.com/video/ybG-M9UPrLc/v-deo.htmlsi=FAfgEKMBPaeODMry
YT reading my mind again. Refuse to pay $30-65 for 4’-7’ green plastic ones.
Google knows that you've been looking online for plant supports 😅. Now you don't have to pay for them :) Thanks for watching!
