    I found that this stretching effect is very much genetics dependent. For example, the Master Kush Auto and other Kush sorts will not stretch at all with extra FR whereas Northern Light stretches as fuck.

    i found that when using far red lighting, my internode space increased significantly. great implementation especially for cannabis vegetation. love this collab!

    Some genetics seem to respond to relatively high PAR levels with compact growth, short inter-nodal spacing, small leaves and branching habit when in vegetative growth. Other genetics are less severely affected. Additional far-red helps greatly to extend the nodal spacing. This give the grower total control over the shape without having to reduce PAR if the grower desires fastest possible growth. Also great on pre-flowering plants shortly after transplant to quickly fill the room for more efficient use of electricity, shaving days off the veg cycle. If stems elongate too much, turn off far-red and increase PAR. Btw, cheap light meters usually cut-off at 700nm so don't measure far-red.

    I added some Mars Hydro far red LEDs for side lighting only in flower and grew some of the best bud ever. There is a lot of blue in the tent as well. I didn't notice much stretching. Maybe the increase in ppfd on the side offsets the stretch response. Great video thank you.

    Hey professor, I know this is a little off topic from the video but I figured you'd be a great person to ask about this. Do you know any great resources for finding optimal PPM ranges for all nutrients in a good hydroponics fertilizer for cannabis (bonus points if it's in coco coir with the Ca and Mg concentrations). I see wildly ranging ppm ranges, especially for nitrogen and I'm wanting to improve my fertilizer game. Thanks a million and please keep making awesome, science-based grow videos.

      In short get a ppm (or EC) tester to find out what you are adding. For Nitrogen aim for 100-120ppm as a starting point. How to get dialed in you may ask, check out this DeBacco University video... ua-cam.com/video/ZLh5zXCqkw8/v-deo.html

    is there any truth to utilizing far red to speed up changes in phytochrome state in short day plants?

    I already had a good idea that red and far red wont flip plants. Because if it did, home growers of every experience level would be complaining about it non-stop.

    • @m.streicher8286
      @m.streicher8286 9 місяців тому

      I think this is an over-simplification, it causes photosynthesis and FR is present in sunlight

    • @KickYouInTheThroat
      @KickYouInTheThroat 9 місяців тому

      @@m.streicher8286 What part of what I said is too simple. Excessive FR wont flip a plant to flower. What more do you want out of that.

      Be careful with the amount of red light for sure.
