I live in Chicago and one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen was last winter a six figure Tesla was broken down and out of charge in the middle of a gas station.
@@RyanPinkston1979In the old days when we needed to fix a car and didn't know how, we went to the public library and checked out a book which gave extensive details about how cars from specific years, makes, and models are speced. You could buy a rear end and it came with instructions and everything. Is it true car makers today don't provide that sort of information?
I still do not know why companies like Tesla decide to stack hundreds of small batteries instead of dozens of bigger batteries in series that take more amperage.
Amazing how many people are falling for the net zero nonsense, the most environmentally friendly car is a used/secondhand one. The bottom line is its all about CONtrol, CONtrol, CONtrol.
Huh? More control is what they have now, and most green tech gives people more freedom. If others want to be reliant on the grid and on oil shipments continuing undisrupted, fine, but I would rather charge my EV using my solar panels for greater independence.
My last Jeep grand Cherokee had almost 300,000 miles on it until I gave it to my kids and they didn’t tip the oil off like I told them! That truck was amazing! One before that was a 1995, another amazing truck until someone crashed into me and totaled it. I still see both those models on the road today!
I work on electric cars as a mechanic and I have to say I hate working on them it’s the most confusing cluster f in history I’m headed back to gas cars things were so much simpler
Hi Scotty, OEM's still haven't gotten the message. Expensive cars don't sell. You can satisfy the 19% of the buying economy but what about the other 81% living paycheck to paycheck?
I am a contractor who purchased every battery-operated tool you can think of and have sense through it all in the garbage and went back to corded items because the batteries will not charge at temperatures 30 and below
Bought a used 2019 Cadillac cts. 3.6 Liter v6 engine with an 8 speed automatic transmission. The car drove perfectly during the test drive and the day following the paper work. Suddenly the car started to have terrible shudder while driving and felt like transmission slip/cylinder miss fire. I took it to a shop and had the transmission flushed and that definitely fixed the issue. In some cases the saying “If it’s not broken then don’t fix it.” applies, but in my situation the transmission flushed saved my driving experience. Going on 2 and a half years now. Drives like a caddy should.
EVs are far better for the environment than ICE. Even without considering the improved lung health in urban areas, since it’s debatable whether that is “environment.” Definitely saves lives and health costs tho. American Lung Association had a nice brief report.
I was riding in a medical transport van when the elderly lady next to me spotted a Cybertruck and said, look at that-- Someone made a car in their garage. I laughed and told her it was made by Tesla and cost over 100k. She was shocked.
Your right scotty, nobody wants an EV made by audi, toyota,VW or the "big 3". On the other hand the tesla model Y was the best selling vehicle of any type in the world in 2023 and is set to out sell the F150 in the US in 2024. VW is almost tits up due to strong EV sales in germany. The anti EV propaganda isn't working...
Yeah. Even with the pervasive anti-EV messaging being pushed on people, EV sales climb while ICE sales fall. Will be interesting to see whether eliminating the EV tax credit will finally give us a year during which EVs stop gaining market share before their growth resumes in 2026.
The problem is, government is trying to force all-electric conversion instead of just letting the marketpkace work out which system is best, or allowing multiple solutions.
Once you see how much trash is in the bottom of your transmission pan, you'll understand why you never ever flush it. Drop the pan, or drain and fill. Never flush. And Scotty is so right. Jeeps have evolved into trash.
@alexmack956 😂 well, since most of the EV owners I know went back to ICE cars, I'd rather have an automatic transmission handling explosions under the hoods of my Toyota's any day.
I used to own a 2018 Jeep SRT, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment. The AWD system failed after just 60,000 miles, despite the fact that I never even took it to the track. On top of that, the water pump also broke down. The interior quality was equally subpar-the dashboard cracked around 40,000 miles due to heat exposure, and the carbon fiber trims started warping and bending, also from the heat. Overall, the build quality left much to be desired.
The ruined it so bad I don't think they'll be able to survive it. Such a shame. I own a 01 Jeep wrangler and a 06 Dodge Ram. Both still running no problem. I know the junk the sell now would never be able to go 20 years.
Scotty is right, never flush a transmission. Just change the oil via the pan, fill it up, drive it around for about 1k miles, and change the fluid it again, and maybe even one more time and you should be good.
I had a flush done once. I asked if filter was changed and was told no it doesn't need to be with a flush That was only time I did that I'll stick with changing fluid and filter myself.
Ultimately, the consumer drives the market in any industry. If only people would stop buying the garbage put on grocery shelves, we could all get healthy wholesome foods back! Scotty, you’re the best! I keep watching if only for the entertainment value of your videos!😂😂😂
No complaints on my 2019 Nissan Leaf + . 115,000 miles hasn't needed a single repair yet , haven't seen a warning light of any kind. Only thing its needed is tires. I don't miss the oil changes or gas stations at all.
I had no desire to own an EV until I visited our daughter and she gave us a ride in her Tesla Model 3. Her husbad, who is a scary driver, "drove" us across town at night on 80 mph Texas crowded highway using the fully automatic driver feature. The car amazed me at how it worked its way through traffic, going around slower cars, looking for opportunities to merge into the next lanes and getting off at the right off-ramp. Wow that was thrilling. So looks like I'm getting a Model Y to replace my 2007 4WD Honda Pilot. That car is also amazing.
Problem with owning an EV is that when you’re riding in a friends car, it’s harder to appreciate the music because you can hear the noisy engine decreasing the music quality.
can u plz talk about toyota recalling their EV because the whels sre falling off? Also the big toyota recall on their new twin turbo tundras? Mechanics hate ev's because theres no work for them on ev's....
We need to find something cleaner eventually, but EV's aren't it. They aren't even a stopgap. If you want to be friendlier to the environment: ride a bike, combine trips, or best yet- keep that old car as long as you can. When you buy a new car, you are also necessitating all the emissions needed to manufacture it.
Avoiding car ownership is definitely best, but EVs are far better for the environment than ICE vehicles. Even if we ignore lung health issues and the report from the American Lung Association about the lives and health care expenses that will be saved when cities aren’t packed with ICE cars
@@SigFigNewton They are not better, when the environmental costs of manufacture, maintenance, and disposal of the battery are factored in. Plus, that juice in the plug comes from a coal or gas fired power plant anyway.
no they don't have a terrific past, but at least our 24 Rogue not expensive up front and not an electric vehicle. Plus, Scotty said it himself: if the dealer is giving a lifetime power train warranty with no strings attached, it takes the worry level down to 0
Scotty I thought you would change your tune Trump has changed his tune ever since Elon Musk spent over $200 million on his campaign Trump came out and said he likes electric cars especially Tesla
a diamond blade is slow compared to a plain old abrasive cutoff wheel. a diamond blade is for cutting concrete and stuff... its slower that standard abrasive for steel... it will cut it its just slow...
If they want my catalytic converter, they can have it. I live in a state that doesn't have emission inspections so I can straight pipe it. Catalytic converters are garbage!
My brothers friend has an audi etron. It's already had a bunch of issues and the dash board is delaminating. The range is a joke 2 as it is for majority of ev's. The electric vehicles are junk.....100%%% of em!!!
Maybe compared to a Audi from 20 years ago in terms of reliability. But now days, no. The five engines/drive-traines they use in all their cars are fairly reliable. The 6-Cyl ones have the reputation of being the 'Honda of Audis' Going 200-300-400K+ miles without much issue. The EA888 used in most of the range had it's kinks works out for the past few years; now they are reliable and cheap to fix.
@SigFigNewton the car manufacturers aren't reporting squat. Every once in a while the state comes in a shop with fancy measuring devices and spends about an hour writing a report and taking up shop space. The DOT. I asked them what that data was for and they didn't know. Just was told to come do this.
I was stuck behind a crappy stellantis car who’s engine was going out the other day it was belching smoke like a destroyer laying down a smoke screen the stench from burning oil plus the head gasket had gone it looked like a 5 or 6 year old car judging by the number plate, either poorly maintained or just a crap car
I love my 2021 Tesla model 3 long range awd. Just got it 20k out the door. No regrets and I have a technician who works on teslas. Never driving another brand of cars again. And I have the acceleration boost. So I got 490 horse power with full self drive and apartment charging.
You say 40 out of 45 deaths reported were from Telsa? Is that for electric vehicles only? Or all vehicles ICE and electric? If electric vehicles only, that's not so bad since the vast majority of EV's on the road in America are probably Tesla.
Well the older Jeeps are good the ones that had the inline 6 cylinder or even the ones with the 3.8 V6 which was a push rod engine, those are pretty good. But that 3.6 VVT engine is absolute garbage.
Can't agree with you more! Just sold my 2012 Wrangler Sport. Owned it for 8 months (bought from major dealership) and from the first 2 weeks of ownership nothing but wrenching on the thing. And it was ALL stock, no mods. Wanted to love it but even the Jeep forum members know you better keep a tool box in your Jeep. Total garbage, those 3.6L"s.
I agree with the trans flush danger if the vehicle has high mileage. I had this issue when I flushed one of my high mileage cars, less than 500 miles after the trans broke. Just filter changes and top offs for this guy now.
@@JohnTaylor-bd1uy 1987 to 1994 to be exact, Asian and American. Even Chrysler was good, thanks to Cummins and Mitsubishi. But not as good as the 70s. Points, carburetor and a catalytic converter is all you need.
We had a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. It was a money pit. They're money pits in 1988 and they're still money pits. Ours was an AMC-built SUV. It doesn't matter who owns Jeep. They're always money pits.
Yeah they're worth more than 20 bucks the one off of a Prius probably will still bring $300 that's what I used to do back in 2020 to 2023 I'm an auto dealer I would buy junk cars that's not going back on the road ever actually I would take them and crush them at the recycling yard and sell the converters to the local converter guy made a lot of money doing that at the time some of those Prius converters could bring up to 1800
Poor Scotty, just bash electric only, they are shutting down gas car plants also, no cars are selling like they use to, all vehicles have gotten too bloated with all the government required things and all those bells and whistles that a lot of people don’t want!
Wife and I saw a Tesla Truck going eastbound on Highway 11 (Trans Canada Highway) between Cochrane and Smooth Rock Falls on Thursday December 19, 2024, late afternoon. Wonder how far it could go today when temps were at a high of neg 26 F.. Take our 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan with over 326,874km any day.
Government needs to stay out of auto industry. Let the public decide what they want to buy. Poor people need cars and the price of all cars have went impart to pay for the development of EV. So EV has screwed up everything. For everybody. Stop wasting tax payers money on rebates tax breaks with poor tax payers money . EV has to stand on its own , no money for EV . And tax the heavy EV for using the roads . Give EV owners a tax on their mileage .

@j2times2006 any automatic transmission.
Or just buy a Tesla and never have to deal with your anachronistic Rube Goldberg machine again
@alexmack956 😂 well, since most of the EV owners I know went back to ICE cars, I'd rather have an automatic transmission handling explosions under the hoods of my Toyota's any day.
Always great to see Scotty! I hope all honest mechanics have a good holiday!
We need a video of Scotty showing us all the things/signs on the shelf/wall.
Stellatus screwed up Dodge like no one could imagine.
Agreed, where's the V8 Charger.
Tesla cyber truck. Worst truck of all time.
It is hideous.
I test drove it. Hated it
Could you afford it?
The one advantage of the manual transmission is, it will never need any flushing.
I flushed my Nissan Frontier tranny several times since new in 03 and no problem
Scotty is talking about owners who "begin" flushing their tranny's post 100,000miles/kms..
I love this guy I have learned so much from him
No complaints on my 2019 Nissan Leaf + . 115,000 miles hasn't needed a single repair yet , haven't seen a warning light of any kind. Only thing its needed is tires. I don't miss the oil changes or gas stations at all.
Nissan leaf is a electric car suppose be simple and small relatively inexpensive. Perfect electric car
How long does a 2000 mile road trip take at 90 mile range?
@@Zzrdemon6633 no idea. My leaf has 224 mile range . Ask someone who has a 2017 or older leaf about that
Or you could get an older jeep like my 96 grand Cherokee. It has 300k miles and runs and drives great. No issues.
Ram trucks are on sale here in the Kansas City greater Kansas City area for 20% off of sticker price!
I was anti EV myself. Got a MY, might get the new M3, drives so smooth.
Problem with owning an EV is that when you’re riding in a friends car, it’s harder to appreciate the music because you can hear the noisy engine decreasing the music quality.
@@dsbennett Is bad idea
Sounds good till a deer or something jumps out in front of em.
You deserve a tesla, make sure you park it inside!
Thanks for the info 😊
How about The Electric Light Orchestra?
Hahaha “There’s no reason to buy an Audi”
❤ you Scotty!
I just bought subaru crosstreck we love it
Stellantis ruined Jeeps too lol
Greed screwed them up.
Jeep went down before stellantis
can u plz talk about toyota recalling their EV because the whels sre falling off? Also the big toyota recall on their new twin turbo tundras? Mechanics hate ev's because theres no work for them on ev's....
We need to find something cleaner eventually, but EV's aren't it. They aren't even a stopgap. If you want to be friendlier to the environment: ride a bike, combine trips, or best yet- keep that old car as long as you can. When you buy a new car, you are also necessitating all the emissions needed to manufacture it.
True words that never get spoken...!!
No we don't
Walk
no they don't have a terrific past, but at least our 24 Rogue not expensive up front and not an electric vehicle. Plus, Scotty said it himself: if the dealer is giving a lifetime power train warranty with no strings attached, it takes the worry level down to 0
Thanks Scotty.
Scotty I thought you would change your tune Trump has changed his tune ever since Elon Musk spent over $200 million on his campaign Trump came out and said he likes electric cars especially Tesla
Give me 200m. I'll tell you anything you want to hear. Money talks. Read between the lines. Republicans can. Democrats not so much 🙄
Just shows Scotty is either committed and can't be bought or he's just stubborn
Give it time. Trump is deporting all the illegals and last I checked Elon Musk is not an American citizen.
Trump is like the rest of us those cars have a place but not for everyone
@@robertredfern5515 Ha! Elon's $200 mill changed the orange monkey's mind.
a diamond blade is slow compared to a plain old abrasive cutoff wheel. a diamond blade is for cutting concrete and stuff... its slower that standard abrasive for steel... it will cut it its just slow...
Same thing goes for hybrids and ethanol burners.
So, what is Elon up to? Is Trump, Elon, Kennedy the 3 musketeers or the 3 stooges?
You want to protect your car and yourself in Houston? Leave!!!!!
1:13 I have audi 2012 300 000km. My cheapest SUV. Had GMC, Volvo, Toyota, suv:s before.....
Scotty what are you supposed to do on a older transmission that has lost its fluid? Just replace it?
Electric cars with a decent battery would be fun. Until that battery exists, they are an idea that has yet to come.
too much raw energy in a hot box bro it will never come. physics says no.
EVs can already have about as much range as an ice ford f 150, so…
How many times better than ice does it have to be for you to notice that it’s better than ice?
@SigFigNewton if you prefer engines to electric motors then they aren't better.
Just made a just argument for buying an electric tesla vehicle now!!! WOW did u understand that .
If they want my catalytic converter, they can have it. I live in a state that doesn't have emission inspections so I can straight pipe it. Catalytic converters are garbage!
Sounds like Tesla is complying with the crash reporting, but other manufacturers may not be.
Thank you for the information.
😊
My brothers friend has an audi etron. It's already had a bunch of issues and the dash board is delaminating. The range is a joke 2 as it is for majority of ev's. The electric vehicles are junk.....100%%% of em!!!
okay
Hmm getting 386miles out of my teslaa model 3 longrange range seem good to me
My Corolla gets 541.2 miles out of tankfull on the highway where I do almost all my driving and no ' issues ' at all.
@@patrickchubey3127 do you run down your tank to empty to get that 500+miles 😂
A Corolla
😂 🤣
That’s it? That’s a kid’s car
Yeah it's not just EV sales that are down though. The entire industry is failing.
EV sales are up. ICE sales are down.
Im on Oahu and its Tesla country.
Ill stick with my 2004 Acura K24.
Keeping it real, Scotty
EVs are not just expensive. They are overcomplicated and gadget packed. They sacrifice Intuitive Design for making digital controlled everything.
Tesla are better then Audis far and beyond!!!!Correct
Maybe compared to a Audi from 20 years ago in terms of reliability. But now days, no. The five engines/drive-traines they use in all their cars are fairly reliable. The 6-Cyl ones have the reputation of being the 'Honda of Audis' Going 200-300-400K+ miles without much issue. The EA888 used in most of the range had it's kinks works out for the past few years; now they are reliable and cheap to fix.
They're both crap.
Why should tesla report crashes? The other car companies dont.
Sure insurance companies have good data
Stealth truck ? It needs serious help .Impractical. I like the Syber Truck better. Air bag is a pillow ..
I laughed at the 'waa waa waaaa!' Scotty's sarcasm is wicked!
I love my 2021 Tesla model 3 long range awd. Just got it 20k out the door. No regrets and I have a technician who works on teslas. Never driving another brand of cars again. And I have the acceleration boost. So I got 490 horse power with full self drive and apartment charging.
Sure you do, Joe.
You say 40 out of 45 deaths reported were from Telsa? Is that for electric vehicles only? Or all vehicles ICE and electric? If electric vehicles only, that's not so bad since the vast majority of EV's on the road in America are probably Tesla.
I love this channel! Super informative!
Everything electric is a throwaway item once it is broken.
…and they break more slowly than ice vehicles
@@SigFigNewtonnot true
Oh? Less moving parts breaks more?
Pretty sure that’s not how it works
@@SigFigNewtonfill up more slowly than ice too!
I'm just here for the EV reply guy
Then what to buy in 2024 / 2025?
Say NO to electric cars. Government subsidising using ICE taxation. Telling ICE drivers we need an 'incentive'.
Can’t imagine ever settling for an ice car again
@@SigFigNewtoncould you imagine making a blanket statement like, “Say NO to electric cars.” Lmfao. It’s screams dunning Kruger.
How does Tesla sell so many, when all the other companies can't sell them?
19% profit margin compared to negative one. Tradtional auto dosent want to sell EV's but they have no choice than to try.
The charging network is the best
"Etron" means "turd" in French!
They should have used the German name instead:
Scheißhaufen
Gut gesagt!😂😂
Never interested in electric vehicle. Tesla is the worst looking of the EV's. We laughed when they came out and still laughing. Ugly is ugly. 😂😂😂
Well the older Jeeps are good the ones that had the inline 6 cylinder or even the ones with the 3.8 V6 which was a push rod engine, those are pretty good. But that 3.6 VVT engine is absolute garbage.
I think in the 90s Jeeps used to have Toyota transmissions too😮 I believe the 4.0 l in line 6
Total garbage, those 3.6L"s.
calm down. not healthy for old people to be too excited
My cars cat is attached to the downpipe. They can get under my car all they want. They wont get anything. Theyd have to get into the engine bay.
I think 🤔 I know what AUDI stands for....
Always
Under
Dysfunctional
Issues
There's not a single EV out there that appeals to me at all.
I agree with the trans flush danger if the vehicle has high mileage. I had this issue when I flushed one of my high mileage cars, less than 500 miles after the trans broke. Just filter changes and top offs for this guy now.
Dear scotty, did you hear news about nissan and honda going to merge? I hope it is not going to make honda a less reliable brand!
The 70s cars are the best
I'd argue 90s.
US brands were junk in the 1970s.
Yeah they're worth more than 20 bucks the one off of a Prius probably will still bring $300 that's what I used to do back in 2020 to 2023 I'm an auto dealer I would buy junk cars that's not going back on the road ever actually I would take them and crush them at the recycling yard and sell the converters to the local converter guy made a lot of money doing that at the time some of those Prius converters could bring up to 1800
As the Prius Gens progressed, did the converters get more and more valuable? Or were there differences within generation years also?
sure
Of course it is illegal to resell used catalytic converters
I like Scotty. But, he's wrong about Tesla. Teslas are pretty good. At least as reliable as most other brands.
Saw my first ever Cyber truck. It looks crap.
40 out 45 fatalities Tesla.
Just wow!
FSD, indeed!
What 45 fatalities?
Thousands die in cars all the time
@@SigFigNewton- I think they mean among electric cars, or self-driving cars.
Tesla sucks
