the same thing happened to me but it turns out I was doing it inside out! unlikely to be your issue cause I'm such a beginner but flipping it rightside out did help
I'm very sorry that you feel confused with the pattern. Because the pattern of both increasing stitches and changing color will be very difficult for beginners, especially those who have not been using chenille yarn for a long time, it will be easy to miss some stitches in the color changing part. First, make sure the number of crochet stitches at the end of a round is correct, mark the end of the row carefully and pay attention to the crochet stitches at the color change. Next, the white part must be in the center and in a straight line to show that you have not missed any stitches.

I did realize she made a mistake with the written pattern on row 7. She crochets the pattern right, but if you are just reading and not watching exactly what she does your dog won’t turn out right. When is comes to the second set of beige color she wrote “(B) 1 sc, inc, 2 sc” in the vid but in her pdf pattern it says “(B) 1 sc, inc, 2 sc, (1sc, inc) x 2 times”. That should fix the issue!

Yes, there is an error in line 7! I have watched the video many times, and checked the scheme many times. And there is definitely a mistake here. it is impossible to fit so many loops from the 7th row in beige loops of the 6th row

how long approximately would it take to make the entire dog?
It takes about 8-10 hours to make if you are familiar with the pattern.
