    After seeing your video I ordered one instantly. I have used many Kaweco products in the past, so I knew that the quality would hold up. What I didn't expect though was how much better it feels writing with this than with the original remarkable 2 marker. And since you mentioned the price: It is still cheaper than one from rm, which already broke on me two times. I just wish I had known about these alternatives earlier...

    Kaweco provide two different styles of clip in multiple different finishes that you can add to the cap. The original clip and the nostalgic. I find adding one weighs the pen really nicely too. They're relatively cheap too. £3-£6 in the UK depending on the style and finish.

    New viewer here. This is the first content I've seen of yours. This video is the only research i did before buying the sport connect, which was kinda dumb, but i got lucky becusse i absolutely love it. It feels so classy and expensive while still being something im comfortable using all the time.
    I will say, im a huge fan of the clip. I was worried it would either slide off since its just a friction fit, or that it would scratch up the pen as i put it on because its too tight. Glad to say ive had neither issue since picking it up a few weeks ago. :)
    Thanks for turning us on to this! Im now subbed and stuff! Excited to see your future stuff! :)

    I recently join the game in eink notebook for study which I'm glad it increases my productivity and less eyes strains. And after watching your video, I got this pen to try. Compare to the default Sony DPT-RP2 device pen and the gifted Staedler Jumbo from the device, Kaweco's nib is in-between the hard default nib and the soft Staedler nib. Kaweco feels like writing with a real ball pen. I am happy to take Kaweco pen for long distance commute as the aluminium seems more sturdy than Staedler's plastic/wood material (I'm afraid it will break). This is now my favourite pen. No rubber at the tip is not a big issue to me. But maybe later I will get a clip for the pen as the pen is so small, it drops to the bottom of the pen holder slot in my backpack. Thanks for your recommendation Brandon and keep up the good videos!!!!!!!

    I recently bought a reMarkable 2, and so far I love it. The thing that prevents me from carrying it everywhere is that the magnetic attachment isn't secure enough for me - I'm afraid of losing the stylus. That said, I ALWAYS have a notebook and pen on me. With that in mind, I wonder if there is such a thing as a retractable nib stylus that has a clip. I prefer retractable pens because I want a one-hand operation rather than having to remove a cap.

    Hey there,
    I totally get your struggle in finding the perfect stylus, and it seems like you've put a lot of thought into what makes one ideal. The Cavaco All Sport sounds intriguing, especially with its solid aluminum construction and comfortable grip. The fact that it feels substantial and well-balanced is definitely a plus.
    You mentioned that it works well with various tablets and has a unique, flexible nib that you enjoy. However, the absence of an eraser button or true eraser might be a drawback for some, but as you mentioned, it depends on your primary device and how you use it.
    The price point is a bit steep, but if it's the one that ticks all your boxes, it might just be worth the investment in the long run.
    Thanks for sharing your insights on this stylus. It's always helpful to hear about personal experiences when it comes to tech accessories. Enjoy your new stylus, and happy note-taking!

    right choice for me if it had a built-in eraser or button. Instead, for my Boox Nova Air 2 I chose two other honorable mentions of yours, from a previous video: The Lamy and the Staedtler Digital Jumbo. Liking both, each in its own ways. :-) Especially liking the eraser on the Staedtler

    In my experience, it's important to consider the durability aspect. I am not an extraordinarily graceful person, but I'm not clumsy either. In life, I drop things, especially things that I grab for use dozens of times a day. If I drop a stylus, I don't want the tip to crack or break. If the tip does break, I want to be able to replace it quickly and inexpensively.
    So it's important for me to know, before buying, not only how well the pen works, but how easily it will be me for to resume using the pen if I drop it and break it. There should be replacement nibs, they should be cheap, and they should be available at some place like Amazon where they can be delivered to me in a short period of times.

    Thanks for the recommendation, Brandon. I just got my Kaweco. It feels great in the hand, and on the screen. I'm about to order the spare parts kit for the extra nibs. I may also order a clip, although I'm not sure that would be better than just sliding it into my trousers pocket. I have already dropped the Kaweco on a hard floor twice with no apparent harm. My reMarkable pen has struggled of late to make an impression at the top of a downstroke, and I can't figure out why. Anyway, solid pen, that Kaweco. I'm grateful for your careful analysis.

    Hi Brandon! Thanks to you, I've discovered this stylus and ordered it from missing-pen. I've been using it with my Supernote and I really like it so far. It's precise and I'm getting used to the grippiness of the nib on the Supernote screen.
    I wanted to ask you, however: does the nib in your Kaweco wobble slightly? It's barely noticeable in mine, but it's not a really tight fit and I can feel it sometimes when I change the direction of my stroke.
    I tried wrapping a bit of tape around the shaft of the nib to make it tighter inside the "barrel", but it causes tracing issues.
    I'm considering ordering the spare nibs (from your other video) to see if it might be a slight tolerance problem.

    hey Brandon! I decided to give this pen a go after watching your video (big fan). So far I agree with your take on this pen and wondered if it still reigns supreme for you? I am trying to adjust to the softer nib feel - have you found these nibs need replacement more often than others? Finally, and the biggest ask, I do notice that this pen lags ever so slightly and will sometimes leave micro spots of missed connection when writing. I'm using the Boox NoteAir 2. Any suggestions on settings in the native Notes you could suggest to fix this? Overall, a great recommendation for a solid heavier pen :)

    Between all the devices you mention, how come the rM is your daily driver?
    Now I've the rM2 since 3 years, but since it's so limited I'm going for a new device. Torn between the Supernote and the Tab Ultra C. I love written notes, but on rM it's become a jungle with many notes and it's hard to stay organized and find what you're looking for. Furthermore I'm thinking of switching to Obsidian for my second brain. The only thing holding me back on Onyx is the fact that they're lagging behind in Android 11.

    I use a LAMY AL-star black EMR stylus with my Onyx Boox Note Air. I am looking for better nibs than LAMY's own PC/EL nib (pointier nib, radius 0.35mm).
    You mention in the video Wacom Felt Nibs - is it Wacom Pen Nibs Felt 10-pack ACK22213 which fit and work well with LAMY AL-star EMR?

I prefer writing with fine tips in general, paper or digital.. like in the days at school loved Pilot 0.38 gel ink ballpoint pens… I know Lamy has a pointier nib option, but don’t know if you tried it? Finally, any chance Kaweco nibs work on the Lamy? Thanks!

Unfortunately, the pen only came with the nib that was installed, no spare nibs.

      Same here. The pen feels great and I love the format, but the nib it came with doesn't work properly with the Remarkable 2 and the RM tips are far from ideal: they wobble, unless you cut it like you mentioned, and if you don't the writing is very poor compared to the Remarkable Pro stylus. I tried ordering a Lamy refill to see if it works, but it's a shame that I ordered this for $160 after this review if it doesn't work properly with the RM.

I didn’t change out the nib with a remarkable one, I use it just as it is and it works great and I never had any trouble with it with my Remarkable ( I literally just ran and got mine and used it on my RM2). I purchased the extra replacement nibs. The only think I noticed since I haven’t used it in a while is I have more control over my writing with the marker plus. I haven’t tied the Norris as some say the nib is softer which I feel is the same with the Kaweco. I don’t think you had to replace the nibs in the Kaweco with the remarkable ones, or at least I didn’t it work just fine as is.

    I bought a ton of stylus also. On reMarkable 2, I still use the reMarkable's pen and tips. I found that's much better than any other tips and the plus model can stick to the side which is hard to match by a 3rd party one. However, on my Boox device with an iPad's paper like screen protector, which is pretty rough and chews through tips very quickly. The nicer tips are kind of expensive when it can go through a few after a few drawings. Recently I found there are metal tips which lasts forever. I bought the Reeyear ones and put one on the Staedtler stylus. It works great my Boox Lumi. I would not use the metal tips on any of the factory installed protectors, because they are hard to replace. But a iPad paper like protector is priced reasonably. So far I have not see any visible scratches with normal usage, so I am happy. I ordered a Lamy (I wish I watched this first) Twin. I plan to carry it with me with a reMarkable tip, because reMarkable 2 is still my primary device.
    I am considering move to a SuperNote once the A5X 2 comes out, so the metal tip would not be much use. However, I wonder if the metal tips work ok on SuperNote.

    Regarding my previous comment (below) about the reMarkable nib not working in the Kaweco pen after reducing the nib diameter, the reason why it was writing before it touched the screen was because I hadn't reduced the diameter sufficiently. After sanding more off the diameter, eventually the nib worked fine. The reason why it didn't initially work and the pen wrote before it touched the screen was because the thickness of the nib meant it was squeezed inside the internal barrel of the pen. So, when I pushed it into the pen, it pressed against the internal pressure sensor that tells the pen it's touching the screen and its thickness just kept it pressing against the sensor. Then, as soon as the pen is moved to within the electromagnetic field of the screen (which extends a centimetre or so above the screen) it sends a signal to the reMarkable to start writing. Anyway, by reducing the diameter of the writing end of the nib a little more, this freed it up enough to only press against the pressure sensor when a force is applied i.e. when it is touching the screen. So, the result here is that, if you're determined enough to use the reMarkable nibs with the Kaweco pen, a few minutes of sanding the diameter of the writing tip down, seems to do the trick. I haven't as yet used the pen with the reMarkable nib in a real-world situation. So I don't know if it is a long-term solution.

      @BrandonKBoswell  Рік тому +3

      Just gave this a go. My experience was the same as Mark's. The reMarkable tips can work if you sand off more than you think you should. It technically works, but I feel like the nib loses a bit of it's integrity along the way. The hunt for the perfect Kaweco replacement nib continues...

    I'm trying to test out my reMarkable and had an old stylus I was going to use before I purchased anything. I can't seem to write on it but all the menus work, and the keyboard. Do I have to purchase a special stylus to use with the reMarkable? I was considering doubling up and purchasing an Apple pencil to use with my iPad and the reMarkable if that would work.

    • @BrandonKBoswell
      @BrandonKBoswell  Рік тому +1

      Hey Steve,
      eInk tablets use Wacom EMR technology so you need a stylus designed for that. The stylus you're using is likely a touch stylus that is emulating you figure. The reMarkable is detecting your stylus as a finger. The Apple pencil uses a different technology from either of those. You're going to want a dedicate stylus for this device. If you're looking for something easy to use check out the Staedler Noris Digital Jumbo or if you're willing to do some hacking check out the Lamy or Samsung S-Pen. I'm not sure they have updated their stock yet, but apparently the Kaweco is now in stock at: www.thepencompany.com/product/kaweco-al-sport-connect-emr-touch-pen/

      @@michelledodson3130 UPDATE: I sanded one of the RM nibs down and now they work in the Kaweco pen. You've got to make sure you sand the sides of the writing head down sufficiently, otherwise the pen begins to write before you touch the screen. When this happens it's because the nib is still too thick and when you push it into the pen it grips the inside and keeps pushing against the pressure sensor inside the pen. The pressure sensor then thinks the pen is touching the screen so when the pen gets within the electromagnetic field of the screen, it just starts writing. This happened to me at first but I then sanded a little more of the sides of the nib tip and now it works fine. Of course, this is not an ideal solution but I guess we could just sand down a few reMarkable nibs at once, which should last some time. Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know in case you weren't happy with the Kaweco nib.
