Very good lesson. I taught keyboard a few moons ago and usedto get my students to listen to how the song is sung and I still play like that now. Much more feeling.

Enjoyed this lesson. As your example of yesterday and the fact that your tempo choices closely matched mine when I perform this song validates my use of them.
Will continue to keep the tips you outlined in this lesson into my frontal lobe.
My weakness is my left hand plays louder than I believe it should. Any tips to soften the left hand would be appreciated.
    Thanks for this lesson.

Really admire your teaching.. like to know more about how to Improvise. What you improved here was not very clear. I’m play classical and pop.. I too play this song but feel not emotional enough. Can you help me

I’d really like some instruction on 7th chords. I’ve got the basics and learning more all the time, but I’d love some lessons on 7th chord inversions and if there is a simple method to get from one of the inversions to the other three, and also which to use in different situations. Like, should I usually choose the inversion with the least hand movement? Also, how can I get a handle on all the inversions of: major 7ths, dominant 7ths, minor 7ths and diminished 7ths? Yowza, that’s a lot! Next I’d like to tackle 9ths and 11th which are almost a complete mystery to me. Thx. I enjoyed your video and thought I’d leave some feedback. 🤠

Sounds like you might be diving into music that is too challenging. I recommend backing up or focusing on chords first!

I am struggling with timing more than anything.

    • @floriszoet458

      Practice with a metronome!
As 6 year old I got my 1st music lessons from my mom on recorder. Lame? No, that recorder was just a tool. What she was really teaching me was count, count, count! I can still hear her say that😅. Thank you mom❤.
Use the metronome on eight or sixteenth notes depending on your song, not depending on the time signature. Later change to the time signature.
And SLOW DOWN when you start with a new song: set half the tempo at most! Don't feel ashamed because the song sounds lame on half speed. Give your brain time to process, a lot is going on. That metronome is brutal, keeping up with it is difficult enough. If you cannot keep up, you need to slow down more. Playing the right note with the right finger is more important.

@@maxdavid3883 good luck. If you don't have a metronome, there are good free metronome apps available that actually respect your privacy and do not use your data or place any cookies (the apps that tell you they respect your privacy so please click the button, in fact do the contrary).
