First of all, great video and great channel. I am really enjoying the product reviews and live sessions. I thought I would also mention that you should probably check your equipment settings in Beersmith. If I input your recipe and set the hops at a 30 min steep/whirlpool, I get ~56 IBU. That is still off from what you got but is better than the 100+ you mention in the video. I could be totally using Beersmith wrong (I'm no expert), but I thought I would mention what I got so that you would have another data point to compare to. Good luck on all your future brews and the channel in general.
You are partially correct. I did not give my exact details in the video. in my original recipe the box for "whirpool" estimation was not checked. I thought it was. When I took my batch size (11 gallons) and scaled it to to 5.5 gallons, I came out with a result of 65.3 IBUS. Initially with the "whirpool utilization" unchecked it was just over 100. My fault.. (not slamming beersmith in any way, mistake on my part.) Thanks for the comments and I appreciate you watching! Cheers! 🍻
Love the cool experiment and backing it up with the triangle tests. Great stuff as always. Cheers!
Thanks! I really enjoy all of the stuff you do it's very unique and unusual and I like it a lot!! Keep doing what you do!! Cheers! 🍻
Great stuff. Next step further is a triangle blind taste test. 🤘🏻
This has been a great and informative video series. Big thanks to you for putting out a lot of information and contacts, such as Dana at Oregon Brew Labs. I will be using her services in the future to try and improve on my own brewing.
Cheers mate🍻
Thanks Leo I had a blast doing it too I'm really looking forward to more experiments in the future!! 🍻
Short Circuited Brewers if they were anything like this one and awesome 8 hour live brew days...I'm sure your going to have a lot of people just as interested!
That was a long time coming. Way to follow up. Always great content, Brian! Cheers.
I know Brian.. I was waiting on the podcast interview and it got delayed.. Had fun doing it and I am looking forward to the next experiment.. Cheers!! 🍻
I use a braided ss mesh from a supply line and whole hops that form a nice filter bed. No clogging and nice clear wort in the fermenter. I feel I get good hop utilization without the hops being in a bag or hop spider.
Thanks for the tip. 👍🍻
Thanks for the great information! You mind if I link this in our myths video?
Genus Brewing not at all feel free! Thanks! I have some more experiments in the works right now around pressurised fermentation.. Stay tuned!😉🍻
Sounds fun!
Hi Brian great vid,very interesting.
Would the Trubtrapper fit inside the new Robobrew and do you think it would help save the pump from being clogged up???
I am not sure what size the smallest one is. It might fit? Have to see what the dimensions are. Cheers!
great video brian, it's a lot of work doing stuff like this 👍👍👍
Thanks man it's a labor of love... I enjoyed doing it! Already have a couple of ideas for some more experiments! Cheers!🍻
interesting experiment. cheers
Very cool thanks
Sure!! It was fun to have the experiment scientifically verified. 👍🍻
Can you use a Trubtrapper with a Robobrew
I don't think so Vince it is taller than the false bottom stand offs. At least the one I have is. The one made for smaller kettles might.. But I think you would still have to remove the false bottom screen. Cheers! 🍻
