Yeah, I have been contemplating selling mine to find a solid gold ceramic blusey but something about the two tone just does it for me. You should have kept yours, bc all the submariners have been increasing significantly in the past 6-8 months. I’ve seen some of the 16613s selling for the price of what the market was for 116613 prior to the Rolex bubble.
👍s up for your review. I’ve just purchased a V serial 2009 ‘Bluesy’ with the Flat Blue ‘Smurf’ Dial, partially stickered & unworn, from a reputable local Ex-Rolex 🇬🇧 AD (they were the original supplier of the watch who had taken it back in part-ex from a regular client of theirs). I had been considering adding a ‘Bluesy’ to my collection for years & preferred the ‘Smurf’ dial. Apart from missing ‘Hang Tags’ it was complete with a blank undated warranty card & original box. As you pointed out the ‘Smurf’ dial was only in production for 3 years & tones the watch down slightly compared with the sunburst dial. Despite having not been serviced for 13 years the tried & tested 3135 movement has gained only 3 seconds in 7 days - incredible!👍🙂
I have this watch and also felt that the super case was too big, but over time it began to grow on me, and I now associate it with a more modern design. When I wear my older, thinner case sub, it almost feels cheap. Totally agree with you about the superior bracelet links as well.
Just saw this exact model at an AD and snapped it up as so rare to see it on display. Could not be happier. My wrist is fairly small but I think I can still pull it off. It is bling for sure but in the classiest, most high quality way
One of the reasons I actually prefer the two tone over the solid gold is that the 904 steel is much stronger than gold. I would rather have a steel black sub and a blue two tone over one solid gold sub.
Wow, what a watch. That colour is spellbinding. Almost liquid. I think that it is probably the most beautiful watch of all time. I love the lugs, they give it more presence. I hope you still have it.
The Blusey is so nice!!! As a kid, I have to say that is the Inly watch I can remember. Seen them in National Geographic magazines in the 80’s-90’s. Amazing how the 2 tone with blue just pops. Looks awesome man!
Well done to the in-depth article! I have a watch like this 2018 In my opinion it is a watch that should be worn in the evening and not in the morning! In the evening lighting the blue color is really really deep and beautiful! In daylight the blue color is less beautiful. And it really stands out!
Stunning watch.. I just got my 2018 one a few weeks back... absolutely love it. but gets little scratches on the polished gold links without even touching it on things.. but a handy polishing cloth sorts it out :).
@09:42, that's my main problem with the Submariner, a tiny 28mm dial in a 40mm case. Look at the dial in the Zenith, it looks huge next to the Sub's. The Sub has too much bezel and not enough dial. Won't stop me from owning one, but I just wish the dial was larger in the same 40mm case. (thinner bezel).
@@WatchDisplay Just my 2cents. Dont trade your twoTone bluesy, its a very very beautiful watch as we know. Dealers will just low ball your trade in price. The reason I bought my solid gold bluesy was because at the time of purchase, it was a better buy than the twoTone. Its like choosing between a fully loaded bmw5series or a slightly loaded bmw7series. I opted for the solid gold. Also, in that case of the solid gold version, its still is a bluesy.
Yeah, I made the mistake of taking it to the Rolex dealer in Manhattan for service, they polished the living crap out of it to a point that the Rolex crown on the bracelet was almost gone and the clasp and bezel kept popping off. They blamed it on condition etc, mind you I never asked them to polish anything , just do the service!! Ended up selling/trading it on a mint 16600. Still bitter about the whole affair.
My favorite Rolex, good you got rid of the dayjust.. I generaly like SS better but The blusie is just the best. I like the TT Blusie much better than the solid gold one.. I have GMT batman, Daytona ceramic black and The Blusie.. My favorite watch is the TT sub blue.. Enjoy it man..
Steve Roberts congrats! It’s an amazing watch. I have considered selling mine a few times and I always end up deciding to keep it. It’s one of my favorite watches I have owned to date. Enjoy and cherish that beautiful bluesy!
Onthe bimetal submariner, they call the metal Rolesor, which I believe is stainless steel with 18 karat gold on top. Is the gold watch Rolesor also or is it 18 karat gold through and through?
If you have a pretty good idea your going to flip a watch, it’s highly recommend to not beat up the bracelet. The Rolex is still with me and the monta is sold. Cheers
1. I love my steel and ceramic bezel sub. 2. I own the two tone cos i wanted a bit more dressy for jeans etc casual sunday. :P . 3. I bought the Hulk for my dad as a pension gift cos he loved it ..not what I could pull off in my work. 4. I not into gold diving watches. There tool watches not dress watches. I think buy a steel tool watch and a gold dress watch, I wear the old cartier de Must tank as a dress watch. making a tool gold watch I think is trying to make a tool watch dressed up ..lets make a Land rover into a Buggatti. ehmmm no .
There is not 100% rule that you can't wear a certain piece. If the Bluesy is too flashy in your view for casual use, either you can't bring it out, or it is not your taste or confidence to wear it. Very few people can actually bring out it's lustre in causal outfits. But they could. Could you?
I got to be honest with you about your new Rolex. if you purchase a brand new Rolex you have to make sure that you are buying the best that Rolex can give you. nobody will give you any discount and Rolex watches are very expensive. in this model you don't have the new generation movement with 70 hours power reserved I think the are about to offer submariner with newest movement maybe in the next year
I have owned three subs over the years. I will never own the newer sub with the so called Super Case. Why? Because it looks like a Super Stupid Case. Those lugs look like they are pregnant and the case shape resembles a sheet of plywood. Very unsophisticated, down right clunky looking.
I used to think the same thing as you until I began wearing modern Rolex. With Rolex at the moment it’s a compromise between super case or a horrible bracelet on the pre ceramic sub. The degree of how horrible the pre ceramic bracelets are outweighs the beefy lugs for me.
WatchDisplay: I don't disagree with what you said here, it's just that I am not willing to make any compromises when I'm spending that kind of money for a watch. So, yeah the older bracelets were no where near as nice as the new ones, and the new watch, because of that God-Awful case is no where as nice and elegant looking as the old watch - either way you choose you loose.
Jamie McNeil I agree with you there. The YM and the Daytona still hold true to the older style lugs in terms of thickness but they have unfortunately went to polished.
Recently sold my 16613 after 15 yrs, big mistake. Two tone bluesy is where it's at man!

This blue gem is completely sold out in all the AD’s where I live. Maybe everyone saw this vid and went to buy one
yes i bought all of them
I was able to get one in two weeks . When you get it on your wrist it’s on a whole new level.

James Gray where did you buy one? I’m also looking for one bro!

Shan Jing I agree as well.
I have the SS black sub and just bought this model as I wanted a two tone in my collection. Having both really bulletproof the submariner family.
Two amazing watches
How do you like having those 2? I have the SS black sub and I’ll be getting the bluesy soon.

great rolex submariner watch with silver and gold with blue face !!!
Just change mine straps to Rubber B . Love it. It makes the looks totally different. Very light comfy and sporty
skykoh sky love rubber b and Everest straps. Had a few on my YM.
Can u show photos with rubber strap please ?
If you can call one a beautiful watch, then this Bluesy Rolex is it.
Just picked up the 116618LB all gold version
@@WatchDisplay show it to us pls
I have a circa1992 mdl #16613. Still runs great. Serviced every two years.
Stunning watch.. I just got my 2018 one a few weeks back... absolutely love it. but gets little scratches on the polished gold links without even touching it on things.. but a handy polishing cloth sorts it out :).
Congrats on the new edition. It’s an amazing watch and I agree with the pcls being a finger print/scratch magnet. Enjoy your new watch
I apply RX-8 protection shield on my bluesy. Love it.

Agree, thanks
Your a lucky man. Got my Bluesy as my grail. You got yours as a student. Great job man!
Dave Tran thank you kindly
I love the blusey Rolex. Astonishingly beautiful watch.
Such a sexy watch
I have a 116618 and it is a beautiful watch but, the two-tone is also a very beautiful watch. either one is beautiful...absolutely !!!!
youtubeguy I have been seriously considering trading in my two tone for the solid gold 116618 ref.
WatchDisplay did you trade for it ? They’re 36-38k brand new right now lol
@@WatchDisplay Just my 2cents. Dont trade your twoTone bluesy, its a very very beautiful watch as we know. Dealers will just low ball your trade in price. Christian Hirsch man! I am sorry to hear that! I would be livid.
There good at that. I would never service mine at Rolex . They have been know to change..polish..replace.. without asking.
Damn. Might want to get an engraving that says "do not polish!!!"
Great review and especially great lighting/angles to show off the dial and bezel better (so many people have bad lighting). 😀
Bedfondo thank you kindly
How difficult do you think it would be for me to get one of these now from a Rolex store or rolex official distributor? Thanks!
Hector Castrejon not too hard. Just ask, I’m sure you can get one within a month.
I got mine within a few days. But I bought watches at this ad before
You like this better than the blue yachtmaster ? Also which piece you think is more versatile to wear ?
Thanks, the bluesy wins over the YM
I have the 116618LB bluesy now in full yellow gold.
Imagine a GMT in a Bluesy color combination! Wow!!! Sunburst dial is better looking than the smurf.

Beautiful piece
Cant believe i got the datejust 41 black dial and got this and to hear you sold yours

Best diver watch to never see the bottom of the ocean. No one will take this diving.
Stunning watch. Why is it called a sunburst dial?
Bc if you look closely the dial has radiating beams of blue that come from the center
Nice watch fella !
I bought the 2012 version
Thanks
Just waiting on mine to come 😄and watching this makes the waiting even better😃 can’t wait😃 👍🏽👍🏽👌🏽👌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
It’s a great watch
Two tone Bluesey....The ULTIMATE 1980s Miami Mafia drug dealer watch!
Great vid. You always have amazing watches. Keep me in mind when you sell that Monta.
Random Rob will do my friend! Really enjoying the Monta Triumph thus far.
I have a preceramic sunburst dial bluesy it's a buitiful watch
how do you keep the pcl with no scratches
It’s hard but I just keep it clean so microparticals don’t scratch the PcL
Love the watch but not sure if it is me.
He’s worried about the monta’s bracelet but he’ll beat up a rolex😂
If you have a pretty good idea your going to flip a watch, it’s highly recommend to not beat up the bracelet. The Rolex is still with me and the monta is sold. Cheers
it's just a rolex.. nothing special
I have a 2004 pre ceramic bluesy it's the best 😀
Bluesy is a hot watch

Yes and GMT's will come out with the new 70 hr power reserve like the DJ41
Still no new movement. 3235 seems to have issues with the power reserve
I had one and I loved it, enjoy...
Emad B. Thank you sir
That Blue - Purple Sunburst dial is fabulous !!! Wear it with pride !
Please make more vids.
Hold the watch still for one second so we can have a good look!
Oh, I thought it’s an invicta... (snickers)
Scratch by your ring
Blusey! 😂 😂 Bluesy.
After watching your videos and u know what? I saw this in Malaysia ( hourglass ) and I instantly Grabs it. Paid Rm49,690
Bro make a simple video as well!
Oh I was, trust me. They had to have security escort me out of the building.....I'll never service a Rolex again, whole thing is a con.
I won't get mine serviced until it breaks 😊
MOST BEAUTIFUL ROLEX. ITS SO GOOD LOOKING. HULK JUST NOT AS GOOD LOOKING AS THIS BLUESY
