I appreciate this tutorial. For those who complain about lack of formula or withholding of color information: the author very clearly posted the site for the full tutorial.

Because they don't want normal folks using it. The pros can figure it out and adjust it to their needs. I'm a natural platinum blonde now since white (actually translucent silver) hair began coming in when I was in my 20's. Years ago in this video...he said he used, I believe, 7/3 (medium golden blonde) on the roots, and glossed it with a 10/03. I know her hair doesn't seem golden, but when you have NO pigment...you just have to add it to even look decent. I used the combo, and it came out stunning. I have my hairdresser do it 2-3 times a year, but the rest of the time, I do it myself...using various pro products. It isn't hard, and it's way better for my hair than box dye. I hate it that my hairdresser (and many I've been to) like to foil my hair. It ruins it, and I don't see the point. This method with the roots and the gel is stunning and my hair was so silky. Am going back to it. You don't have to use Wella for the midshaft to the ends. You can use any gloss product or toner. When My hair was getting too dark on the ends (heavy-handed hairdressers with super dense dye), they began highlighting it, and it has really ruined it. I don't know why they insist on using bleach when high-lift tint or gloss (if your hair is already light) leaves it so much nicer...unless it's to make more money. The woman I go to keeps charging more and more, and keeps giving me more and more highlights. I'm changing colorists.

I am 76, have light gray hair, use Indola's hair foam pearl gray. Excellent but I'm tired of using that foam all the time and wondering if I can color my hair so it's just about ash grey, a little more to the dark side??? I have very short hair and like to have pepper-salt colored hair. Is this possible???

roots a little too dark....what about 9/03 on roots at a higher volume, then 9/03 at the lower volume for midshaft to ends?
