Highlights with Gray Blending + [QUICK TONING TIPS]

- In this video tutorial, I show you how I highlight hair to blend gray hair while using Studio Stylist Express for a base break using Kenra Color!
Let’s be real, quarantine hair is REAL! My client came in and wanted to refresh her color and blend her grays. Overall it can be a bit tricky to lift gray hair due to the fact that it tends to be a bit more on the coarse side.
Even though this was a trickier head of hair, I am always up for a good challenge! To achieve maximum lift and brightness, I went in with Kenra Professional Blue Powder Lightener with 20 volume developer.
Because she had so much regrowth I thought it was best to tackle this with a combination of Microlights, teasylights, and babylights.
Pro Tip: When highlighting, pivot your highlights for a more natural look!
FORMULA:
Lightner: Kenra Professional Blue Powder Lightener with 20 vol
Toner: Studio Stylist Express 7A and 7N for 5 min at the base with VP rapid toner on the ends.

How would you approach the base bump if your client insisted “no warmth at all”?
Yours look fantastic. I love it.
I would use an even cooler shade like only use ash. Also I never use a shade more than two level lighter than what my client has to avoid that brightness
Beautiful work! Just a quick question, putting the 10 minute color on wet hair At a level 7 did not create any warmth on wet hair? My client is a natural level 5 but I may try this method on her at a level 6. She does not want to upkeep her roots every 5 weeks so I'm going to try with the kenra 10 min coler🤗
If you are ever concerned with warmth I would suggest using A series. It will base brake and shift but fades on tone

I don't understand how her darker hair does not go orange - that is what happens to mine why??
All hair goes from Orange to yellow. You need the right Lightener and longer processing time.
Use. Demi color or lower your developer. You’re lifting to light or the permanent color is turning brassy as it oxidizes.
Oh my god please help me I’m gonna cry- so I did the Tiktok trend where you dye the two front pieces of your hair and I did it blue but I want it back to normal now, so my mom and I went to Sally’s and my mom picked a color saying it was closest to my hair color (I have like thick dark brown Islander hair) and it’s legit black in the front now like either very very very dark brown or black like it doesn’t match at all and I don’t have the money to get it professionally done. Please help like what can I do
Leave it be until you can go to a stylist. 😬 you don’t want to further damage your hair.
