As much as I love Gary's readings as ASMR content, they are master classes in cold reading. Please be skeptical when you hear Barnum statements like: "You don't ____, do you?" No matter the answer, the psychic can spin it like they knew what the answer would be. 5:42 "You never spent any time in America, did you?" He said yes, so Gary says, "Yeah I thought so," but if the sitter had said no, he could easily say "No, I thought not," and also make that into a hit.
There are also a lot of instances where his statement doesn't land, so he says "Oh probably in the future," which is obviously not verifiable. Be careful out there, folks!
And if you consider the reading as a whole, Gary just asks questions and doesn't provide any otherwise unknowable insight
Honestly if someone billed themselves as a cold reader, I'd pay the same amount of money as I would for a psychic for the experience. I find it fascinating and cool. They don't need to lie to get my money lol

Think too many people read way to deep into these. It’s ASMR, it’s not supposed to provoke arguments about whether this is “real” or not. If it’s not for you, just move on. I hardly think ASMR viewers pay attention to specifics of these treatments, and care more on relaxing.

An excellent example how you do not need to whisper to invoke ASMR. This is the type of ASMR I relish - speaking at normal volume, hearing quiet breath sounds, a normal Mic, etc

Must say ive always found the comments section on Gary videos quite tedious. Believe it or dont believe it. Let it chime with your values or think its the biggest load of quackery going. Expend loads of time and energy attacking it or defending it.

I dont think about what he says, anymore than i think about whether or not the man actually wanted a navy suit for war or whether or not the Doc really did have sandwich breath. Any need to share skepticism on videos like this is due to hilariously rigid thinking. No one’s asking you to believe in anything, so to feel the need to prove a point is as rigid as it gets. You had one job: watch the video and relax. If one can’t do that without presenting arguments or their opinion on the content, they’re not watching the right video.

I’m kinda sick of seeing so many comments of people saying how believing in this stuff is stupid or whatever.
Like, anywhere in the video or in the title or description is there anything about this video being focused on the validity of these kinds of practices? No. It’s an asmr video. It’s for asmr. Relaxation. Some people find the way these types of people talk to be relaxing. If that’s not you and you’re just here to sound smart being a skeptic then I really don’t get the point of even clicking on the video.
Very few people are going to believe in this sort of stuff, so that's fair as far as it goes. But on the pseudo-medical ones, it's much less true: a significant minority actually buy into that nonsense, and the 'professionals' offering it (for money) issue no disclaimers.

Nothing about these videos is trying to convince anyone of the health benefits of pseudo-medical practices, it’s just for relaxation.
There’s a time and a place for those kinds of discussions. See a video of someone trying to convince people that essential oils cure cancer? Yes, absolutely the right place to question the legitimacy and ethics of that. This video, and all the ones on this channel are not that. People come here for relaxation, not for medical advice. So trying to have those discussions here is kind of like walking into a church during service, declaring you don’t believe in god and demanding everyone listen to why, then getting angry when they tell you gtfo. Discussions around religion and theology are great, but there’s an appropriate time and place for those discussions.

Asmr isn’t just whispering voices. It’s anything that makes people relax and feel a sort of tingle in their head or spine region. For some that’s watching someone trace or point or read.
I personally don’t believe any of it, but it sounds calming and I get a little chuckle when I hear something I find funny
