Being a big ff14 fan and playing this game should be the next level of fun. It seems to me that in many ways ff16 is aimed at people who like not only ff, but ff14.
Well FFXIV at its heart is still an mainline FF game. Many of the core concepts that make FFXIV so great are just core concepts of FF as a series in general. And I think that’s why older FF fans appreciate FFXIV as well. Yoshi P did an amazing job of reviving the feel of old school FF games/stories into XIV. But the feel of XVI is going to have a similar feel to FFXIV simply because of Yoshi P being the director of both games. Hopefully FFXVI convinces some FFXIV exclusive players to give other FF games a chance! Not every installment is a hit but the series has its fair share of masterpieces.

@@JasiuBC pretty much the core team behind ARR & Heavensward worked on XVI, tho. Even if Yoshi-P is not the director, the actual director was his assistant during the Heavensward days, so I'm sure Yoshi-P's input carried a lot of weight in this game's development.

Ifrit's been getting a lot of love lately. Real final boss in base FFXV, best party member in Episode Ardnn, and now completely controllable and really strong in FFXVI

Clive, the first main blue mage character in Final Fantasy. Obviously.
Jack's more of a blue mage than Clive tbh, considering the whole soul shield mechanic.
@@flailingdragoon1072 sorry, but thats totally false. how is jack a bluemage? All he does is chosing a fixed job with the job change system. He is always a fixed traditional job class using regular job abillities.. FF job abillities like Fira, Cura etc. arent blue magic spells. Blue magic skills are monster attacks which are learned by monsters in combat. Yes, Jack can switch to the blue mage class which was implemented in Strangers of Paradise.. but he isnt a blue mage per se. he can be a dragoon, a pld, etc. by chosing their fixed jobs.. that has nothing to do with blue magic in FF tradition. whereas clive copies the attacks of enemies / summons... thats what a blue mage in FF does.. copying strange / ridiculous monster attacks. But clive as a main character blue mage stands out in this regard that he copies the attack patterns of summons and not of monsters. Beginning with phoenix feather attacks, the ice cloak attack of Shiva, Bahamuts lasers etc. All his attacks are built around summon attacks and not around regular FF job abillities.
@@Coldsilfur4 Jack's soul shield quite literally allows him to do just that, copy signature moves from monsters and use them, and it was part of his core kit independently of job and before the Bahamut dlc.
@@flailingdragoon1072 his sould shield is what it is.. a shield which absorbs/reflect attacks... he can only counter atttack/deflect these when being attacked. that has literally nothing to do with blue magic.. he doesnt learn the skills, he deflects/blocks them. thats a combat counter mechanic implemented by the KOEI devs, but not blue magic.. he doesnt immitate the attack by deflecting it. Jack can switch to a blue mage class later on...
@@Coldsilfur4 He doesn't just deflect skills my guy, he literally absorbs purple attacks and can use them at any point. He learns stores them. He can also equip them without being in the blue mage class.
Isnt Yoshi P on the board of SE? If he wants more money for his budget to ship out a quality product, that MF gets it; just look at the freaking game play!

Just love the interaction during the hunts part where chat informs him of ff12 and he shits on it and then almost immediately chats like "How DARE you!"
I remember a time when shitting on ff12 was the norm, wonder when that changed.
I think time in general softens the edge on peoples opinions, but mainly I think FF12 greatly benefited from the international version, and subsequent Zodiac Age remaster. It is such a better version of the game compared to its original release.
@@JPrescottQ agreed, just funny to see it make a 180 like ds2 did for a while where everyone suddenly was like "you know what (insert game) was actually pretty cool."
FFXII deserves its mixed reputation, but it had tons of odly fun things.
Like how you can automate your party is boring first, but when you learn it more and get more commands, you get that weird "proud father" feeling when your party beats high level boss without you lifting the controller.
@@MrHeiska01 I sorta half agree, like I understand the game definitely released not finished for the rest of the world that wasn't Japan, but I think a lot of its hate actually comes from people who had no right belittling it to begin with.
For example a while back I watched the entire playthrough projared did of ff12, and while there were plenty of people complaining about how the original game had a bad license board, or garbage weapon types like axes, and bombs. There were just as many people complaining about things that were personal choice, or echoing things that someone else said...stuff like the automation of combat, or how the story is somehow like starwars, and the most hilarious one, how vaan had no purpose in the story. Which definitely made me laugh because no one ever mentioned Penelo, who is so much worse than vaan that she exists just to round out the balance between male/female characters. And I realize the amount of people in the streams isn't equal to everyone in the world, but it helped me see that a good portion of the people who were saying it sucked just wanted to be apart of the crowd.....was it the best, no, did it deserve mixed reviews upon release, absolutely. But I don't think it deserved to be put through the ringer like it was, because at least it's not ff8, or 13.

But the State of Play presentation is what hype the most bcs they show us RPG element and world exploration which is the most important aspect in Final Fantasy. Now we know that FF16 is still RPG game, not turn into pure action adventure game.
I'm fine if the combat could be turn based, action or hybrid
But the RPG element, character progression and world exploration is what I care about.
Which is why I like almost every Final Fantasy game except FF13 😅
I wonder if all the summons will have a "lost" form and not just titan.
Personal theory is lost form mean they cant turn back human and r currupted bu the power
7R's facial animations in the general world felt scuffed because they used an AI program for the lipsync which didn't work very well most of the time.
Letting the game choose your skills and 1 button combos will mean that your girlfriend or little brother will be able to enjoy the game. You can still show off your skills and use other accessories to own their scores in Arcade mode.
Imagine still thinking girls suck at video games in 2023 when you got people like MissMikkaa.

I have a feeling that Ifrit's design was based on Godzilla this time (5:17 his facial structure are very similar to that of Legendary Godzilla's, and also reminds me of Shin Godzilla when Ifrit opens his mouth around 5:24), which is why he looks less douchey and more animalistic and savage. All the fights between the Eikons look straight out of kaiju movies as well.

Honestly seeing this, and being someone who played a lot of PSO2/PSO2:NGS. I think if anyone could make an amazing MMORPG with Action Combat elements. It would be Yoshi P and his team. This game looks so fucking amazing. PSO2 has really fun combat, but you can tell its a small team because the gameplay loop isnt really engaging. At the end of the day when it comes to PSO2: Great combat mechanics only take a game so far until everyone gets bored of the world they're in.

I hope the boss fights are really easy at normal difficulty, but super hard at higher levels, with lots of mechanics like a 1 man raid.

There is no difficulty slider in the game, all you can do is put on easy mode accessories

all jokes aside those who use the rings will have to grind more they already said the rings nerf your score and Koji said in the video from last month that players will get rewarded depending on how well they perform in battle so those who use the rings will get less Gil Ability Points and Worse Items so in a way the game is balanced

My main issue with this game is that I would have to play as this anime soyboy character called CLIVE of all things... he just looks cringe, same as some of the other male main characters in the series
You know what I want out of my video games? I want to be able to pretend I'm in a Hollywood movie or TV show. I want to sit in front of my TV holding a controller that doesn't even work, while the game plays itself, so I don't even have to expend the energy to move my fingers. In fact, I don't want a single neuron in my brain to fire while I watch the pretty colors.

This game is doing literally nothing for me at all, I’m just not a fan of super powered anime protagonists reeling off “badass” lines in battle as they power up. I really wish there was something on the market that captured the old storytelling prowess of Squaresoft.

It’s not really bad news because I don’t have to buy this game after all, there’s plenty of others coming out this year anyway.

@@TruePeaceSeeker Theres always a chance but based on what I’ve seen so far dialogue, acting etc I don’t think there’s any possibility of this being the case. The story may not suck but I can’t see it being profound or deep in any way but tropey and run of the mill is more likely.
The writer is the same guy who did Heavensward which I also didn’t think much of. If the shadowbringers writer had been in charge of this I’d have much more faith as that story was very good quality and the best SE has put out in 20 years.
