Technically not yet a cannon, but it's as close as you get with English. Funnily enough, the term for it was "puška", which in modern Czech is used for rifle (as in long rifled fire-arm for firing from shoulder) - from which perspective, "gun" would be more fitting; but for example in Russian, the term бушка (bushka) is still used for cannons. That said, we can also trace the origin of the word. From "bušit" (бушить) - "to bang". So it literally is a boom-stick. And since this was called "půl-komorová puška" (modern reitteration of the wording), it literally is called "half-chamber boom-stick".
The medieval guns were technically impressive. This gun is loaded backside and it was really so - it is medieval invention! But then the development of cannon stopped for 300 years.
It actually evolved, the gun you see here was innaccurate, heavy. and the rounds were incredibly heavy and expensive since they use literal cannon parts, and they were also not very powerful because of the gasleaks that such a primitive breach loading system makes. Just because its flashy doesnt mean its better or ''more advanced'' than later cannons
every modern assault rifles work on the same design for like 70 years. there were improvements in materials and ergonomics and thats about it. the same applies to these cannons
FINALLY! An accurate loading and firing drill! All the other stuff I find is boomers doing it as slow as balls and it makes it seem like (which I doubted the whole time) that loading and firing these things would have been very slow and tedious. Thanks for posting this eleven years later.
I've got to say that is some of the worst cannon disaplin I've ever seen. Even after a wet swab you should never look down the barrel. And walking In front of the gun my god...
@@kaistzar2831 no one looked down the barrel- it was filmed and edited clear. It is showing the idea- the CSG has excellent safety and this cannon led the way- over 25 years . Have a good day
@@BSKREXPLOSION666 In this case removing the whole chamber and then emptying/wet swab the full barrel length makes it by my standards safe. Knowing that old cannons could explode within a few rounds, a visual inspection is not worse than disciplined blind trust in your god.
medieval camera quality's really good compared to the newest one

Or, as this is in France: _canon_ also meaning tube and that could be good enough.

Great video! As an author, I got useful information. Thanks!
That's a amazing video.
Breech loading! :0
What’s the song?
Fucking irritating?
This is like formula 1😆
There's no ball that's why there's no recoil

@@kaistzar2831 I'm part of a 15th century cannon reenactment group. It doesn't matter about the reenactment peoples safety comes first
Don't really seethe danger in looking down a barrel with the breech open and no round inside

Disagree, excellent safety drills, powder kept separate until last minute priming, breech cleared before swabbing.
Stupid Music.
