This was a great beginner video. I would like to learn more about using Inkarnate to build a city. I played with it, but the result was, well, as awful as you can imagine. I am sure I am missing steps/tips along the way that would make my city map look more realistic.
Thanks, dude! This is exactly all I needed to be able to explore on my own. Thank you for getting to the point, for your clarity and brevity, and for the section tags!
Thank you for such a useful overview! I opened Inkarnate earlier for the first time and was just overwhelmed by all the stuff that was there. This makes it a lot easier!
Super helpful, thank you! While I've been DM-ing for a while, I've never really done more than just sketch out rough versions of maps, so this is super awesome and will absolutely come in handy for me now that I've picked up Inkarnate!
Thanks for making such a useful tutorial, it has been of great assistance. It might be useful to note that the area/radius/density functions apparently (at least according to inkarnate) are only available when one is using stamp sets, I spun my wheels for a long time trying to make this function work for an individual stamp.
Thanks for this video. It's helpful in knowing what to think about as I plan my next step. I'm building a map to airbrush to the underside of our Jeep hood so when we go to car shows there will be another dimension to our one of a kind vehicle! Can't wait to complete the project.
Good stuff! Using this to map our farm. 😃 Worth mentioning that the resolution on the map creation wizard refers to the editing resolution, not the final "Exported" res. It would be useful to have more info about res and aspect, as many people query this.
If you don't already have a video on how to "trace" an existing map in Inkarnate, can you please do one on that? As an author, I want to use Inkarnate, but I already have some maps I want to recreate, but I'm finding it a real pain to make it work. I found some information that said you need to insert a map that's already created as a "stamp" and then set it to the background, but when I try to do this I can't seem to get it to fit, I can't seem to draw on it, and of course with it being a stamp, I can't separate the terrain from the background so end up covering the template with ocean and then can't trace it. I wish the layers worked as they do in Photoshop, because it seems so much simpler that way. For the record, I have both autism and ADHD, and unless something is intuitive or has an actual user guide, then I often struggle with making sense of it.
Just got inkarnate and couldnt for the life of my figure out how to make circular castle walls until ... "the little number in the corner means they are sets" holy basil batman!! theres those round castle walls Ill be watching all these videos thanks boss!
Hi - not seeing the same options. I have the Pro account, so not sure why. ) Scene Settings (only Layer shadows). On another video I saw a Pangea and Plate Tectonics objects but those are not available. Can't find anything on Discord or the FAQ. How do I access those objects / options?
Awesome starting guide! Question; at 14:30 in the lower right it says "resize map/New map from region". Is this a tool where I can take say a continent out of my world map and make a more defined regional map out of it? It's something I'd like to do but thought maybe photoshop or something would be needed.
Great video. 2 questions: I see one of them asked below on how you can make a map of one that you already had hand drawn if that is possible. The other is after you create your map and your game campaign grows, can you make maps that attach to the one you already created to expand your world?
I stamped a map I had made digitally but I am unable to use the mask tool to trace over it. I know its able to be done, but it just does nothing. I'm thinking I need to make a new layer but it isn't clearly explained how to do that.
What if you already have a background for your map? I have the continents and water that I made with photoshop, but I can't figure out how to make it a background...
im having such a hard time choosing between wonderdraft and this. I have half a mind to get both and use wonderdraft for the world map and use inkarnate for the regional maps and maybe cities
I don’t believe there are any random generation features like this for Inkarnate, but you could certainly check out other people’s creations and adapt them for your own purposes.
@@SilverDragonAcademy I rather handdraw my map, much faster, more flexible, only costs a A1 sized sheet of paper, and I have a holder for posters :) I can put filters on it for free at the afterwork and things like that! really recommend to do it this way
Looks like a good program, but you talk too fast, you skip around, and you discuss too much information that doesn't pertain to this program. This is not a good tutorial. It's not even a mediocre tutorial.

As a brand new Inkarnate user wanting to make maps for my novels, this was such a helpful tutorial. Thank you.
Very well done. I have been using the tool for about a month or so but there was a lot of new things to pick. Appreciate the video!

Super helpful thank you! Been thinking of buying inkarnate for a while. Now I’d like to get the pro version. Thanks a lot, very helpful ❤
Thanks! Just what I needed to begin!

Thanks for taking the time to put this intro together! It's a great starting point for dipping a foot in.

Haha yeah I did not realize for quite some time that they were each sets. Thanks for the kind words :)
Smoothening. Love it.
0:50 quite the voice crack, great video by the way!

This was very helpful thank you.
Very helpful bro, thanks.
Thanks. This video is great.
Thank you for this
This is such a helpful programme! Unfortunately, it doesn't support internationally as Iwasn't able to get the pro version 😢

I think this guild is outdated
Liked and subbed with thanks.
EXCELENT
That looks amazing, if only a single one of the features you used in the video you didn't have to pay for

That's exactly what it does, and it's awesome, because it will also resize the assets in the region to scale.
are there new versions looks like they updated inkarnate their are things missing when i try to follow video but like it well done

This was super helpful!!
Glad to hear it!
great vid thanks
Nice vid, do you know the foreground scaling tool's location by any chance? I've been looking and couldn't find it which is strange.
Where to get this? :(
I think there's a website for this. There's a free version and pro ver.
What if you already have a background for your map? I have the continents and water that I made with photoshop, but I can't figure out how to make it a background...
It always says 'Something went wrong' when I start to create a map, any Idea how I can fix that?
I do not have the color filter option beneath layer shadows?
Is there such an application for the phone that I really need?😢
im having such a hard time choosing between wonderdraft and this. I have half a mind to get both and use wonderdraft for the world map and use inkarnate for the regional maps and maybe cities
is there not an option that just generate a prepopulated terrain with villages, towns n things already that I can then go in and customise?
I don’t believe there are any random generation features like this for Inkarnate, but you could certainly check out other people’s creations and adapt them for your own purposes.
It sucks that all stamps/assets are available when you pay for it.
So you basically only have "core" thingy
bbut how do i make dungeons
Inkarnate may not be the best place for that.
man are you using free or paid version? thanks for explaining obvious things in most of time of the video
The middle of the road versiom. So like 5$ a month.
@@SilverDragonAcademy Thanks!

My maps just keep going black
"We HaVe SeNt An EmAiL To CoNfIrM YoUr EmAiL AdReSS"
"ClIcK ThAt LiNk To StArT MaKiNg MaPs!"
BRO WHAT FUCKING LINK????????
Not great, doesn't explain how to choose the textures for the mask.. i.e. foreground and background
why the heck would you need to make fantasy maps that dont even exist in the world
Usually for worldbuilding and deciding where things are and where creatures live.
