    Thanks to this channel, I bought R2000DB, like 2-3 years ago and I must say, this video doesn't do them justice. They sound so much better in person.

    I'm sure that the 2000DB sounds better, however the option to add a subwoofer to the 1850 makes them a much more worthwile purchase in my opinion. You can easily get much better bass then the 2000 with even the cheapest of Subs, let alone a midrange or highend one.

    Got my r2000db a year ago and I still love them. Best speakers I’ve had. The stock setting lacks a bit of treble but when that is fixed they’re perfect. And they also pump out suprisingly much sound for being bookshelf speakers if needed. And the overall quality is amazing for the price. Got them for 140€ so super cheap for these speakers, in my country at least.

    I bought an 1850. Good sound, but too much high frequencies. After a few weeks, I noticed that the passive speaker in the back was buzzing on the bass. I took it to the store, listened to other speakers of the same kind and everyone had such a problem. As a result, I took 2000 and I liked them more: balanced sound, more bass, good high frequencies. I listen with Focusrite Scarlet 2i4.

      This is exactly what happened to mine. Ordered the r1850, i loved the sound quality, but there was a noticeable buzzing noise in the 50-100hz range. Returned the 1850 and got the 2000s instead. Much more bass indeed. I would say that it is a bit overwhelming. Over the other frequencies. Also, those do sound more boxy than the r1850s. I would say that if the 1850s had no defects, I would have liked them more for a small to medium room, but i can't complain about the r2000 either.

      The 1850's go loud enough to make your neighbors start hating you :) It kinda surprised me.
      Update, I couldn't help myself and hooked up an old used (€40,-) Tannoy TS8 sub which, is a not boomy, closed and tight sounding 8" sub without without bass reflex port. It softly "breathes" the 60 to 30 ish Hz range which I was missing very nicely. They sound pretty good on their own but adding a sub really completed the sound.

      Yes, in the video way more detail on the 1850 indeed.

  • @tunafishjoe
    @tunafishjoe 5 років тому +41

    I bought both to test. The R2000 is much better than the R1850. The R1850 has very little bass making vocals sound less rich and full. The R1850s highs are about as great as the R2000s, but with the lacking bass and mids, the music sounds relatively flat. Spend the extra $50 for the R2000. You won't regret it.

    • @ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf
      @ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf 5 років тому +22

      really?i found the lack of detail in the 2000 very obvious due to the bass bloat. i'd rather than an R1850 + save for a good subwoofer.
      i think the R2000 is in a really difficult place because if you want bass, get the 350db/360db, if you want detail, get the 1700bt. if you want the option to add a subwoofer, get the 1850bt.
      i get the R2000 is more for higher end people who dont want subs and want stero reproduction of the lower hz, but i just find it really fails at it in the grand scheme of things and those users are better off investing in higher end speakers.

    The R1850DB seems to be a good budget choice regarding effortless listening to different styles of music. The R2000DB comes with a stressed bass and sounds some unbalanced to me. They maybe preferred by listeners of EDM, but I prefer pop music, jazz and music which is played on acoustic instruments. So, as all purpose speakers for a small amount fo money I would feel quite comfortable with the R1850DB.

I can imagine, hearing them compared to the R2000DB, the R2000DB would sound rather muffled in the mid/high range? Liking the 1850's a lot but there could be a little less upper bass in their tuning. If you want to complement them with a sub, go search for a decent sub and not a cheap one as they deserve it. Look for used active sub like Tannoy TS8 TS10 or TS12, and old Rel or B&W. Enjoy!

    Hi I just Added T5 subwoofer with 1850 but the subwoofer is barely making any sound even after turning the volume knob to max. I connected my speakers via rca to 3.5mm in my PC and connected subwoofer using given RCA to 3.5mm sub to Sub out port of speaker. Am i doing anything wrong let me know .... Thanks

      So, you connected 3.5mm jack to sub out on 1850. And check if you connected RCA side to INPUT on sub. Set Freq dial and volume dial to the middle to start with. If that does not work, faulty unit perhaps?

    compare Edifier S350DB to 1850+ subwoofer

    • @ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf
      @ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf 5 років тому

      dependant on the subwoofer.. the 1850 will destroy it because you can buy a 8-10inch subwoofer which will cost 2x the 350fb.
      my bk monolith xl plus is 2-3x the price of the 350db and will destroy them in the bass department in every way imaginable.
      if u mean a 350db vs an 1850 + a budget subwoofer.. it would be more interesting but i think ultimately unfair again because the sub will have its own power supply.. so that setup is playing with more power.. so will obviously yield a better result. thats ignoring the superior sateletties due to size.

    • @rdolle990
      @rdolle990 3 роки тому

      @@ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf Yes, the 350 sub is the T5 and it's a very mediocre sub. It will add some lower Hz range and some slam but that's it. In the end only a B&W AWS610 sub really did a very nice job for the 1850's . I got it insanely cheap though.

    • @AbsoluteFidelity
      @AbsoluteFidelity 3 роки тому

      Get the 1850 that has a sub out and plug the T5 in. It is way better than the 351/360 will ever be. Reason is this, you can control crossover with the speaker/T5 combo, you cant with the 350/351/360. You can also adjust bass separately on the speaker and sub but you cant with the 350/351/360. It is also vital to get an edifier speaker with a sub out and not use a Y splitter and all that because edifiers speakers with a sub out have low pass filter and stops playing lower frequencies that the sub is already playing. Without this low pass filter, your speakers will continue to play frequencies that your sub is playing, overlap and make things sound muddy.

I know these are 2.0 speakers but I notieced that the Edfier 1850DB has this sub woofer out option so if I add a nice Yamaha NS-SW100(10 inch 100 watt) or Yamaha NS-SW050 to it what will be the result. is it outperform the Klipsch Promedia 2.1BT and Edifier S350DB. Please help me out from this issue. by the way I am from India and in my area I cant find any help for this issue.My main preference is the sound!.I need well pronounced "treble" and sharp punch of "low".Hope you will understand my issues. thanks

      Manoj Madhavan yes...you are right..s350 satellites are too small and the woofer has no controls is very difficult to tame and adjust with only a bass knob..you need independent vol control and freq adjust on the sub..s350 lack both...so you are right adding a sub to the 1850 is far better

      Manoj Madhavan If your priority is the sound, not portability, I suggest the KRK Rokit RP 10-3, is a 3-way monitor with a great cost-benefit ratio. If the KRK is not available in your country or you want something cheaper, but with performance a little below, I suggest the Edifier R2800 or even the R2730.
