  • XDefiant has multiple Rate of Fire improving attachments, the Muzzle Booster & Rapid Fire Barrel, and today I wanted to break these down and share one huge element that's currently broken with these that makes them far more powerful than they should be!     UPDATE: After seeing a few comments from you guys, I went in and did some more testing and it appears these opposite recoil effects are ONLY applying to Assault Rifles. For the other weapon classes, you will be seeing the appropriate increase to recoil.

      RF on the MDR seems to work as intended. I've only been able to notice the broken version on the ACR so far.

      I've tested more - pretty sure it's only broken for the AK and ACR. All other AR's are normal for me.

    Ace I would like to point out for burst weapons like the m16 that when you use the rapid fire barrel or muzzle booster theres a chance when you keep shooting that SOME of those bursts will shoot an extra bullet, so instead of shooting 3 bullets per burst itll occasionally shoot a 4 burst. Its extremely weird and it never happens with the first burst but i thought id let people know with this video

      yeah but happens so infrequently not worth using just for that. would guess happens 2-3% of the time.

    I figured this out when i decided to make a "close range" AK class for arena map. Ran both rapid fire attachments as well as pistol grip and quick grip and was shocked to see i was beaming people at far long ranges than i should with the expected recoil penalties.

      Just utilize the recoil smoothing mechanic built in the game. As long as your strafing you get zero recoil. So for the most part utilize fastest fire rate attachments with ads mobility attachments

    Well, at least we know that when this gets fixed, the rapid fire attachments will be situational and not something you slap on every weapon. But uhh, 30% less recoil seems pretty good to me.

    I tested this a week ago and yes I've seen this pattern! However only for AR's. The mp7 had more recoil as it should with rapid fire. Did you also notice that?
    The question is are those attatchments worth it when they work as intended🤔 The recoil penatly in % is more than all recoil attatchments stacked

    Thanks for info and i love the work you do but i did more testing with every full auto gun and this bug is for assault rifles only. i tested the smgs and lmgs and the negatives still applied.
    (edit: rapid fire also helps the recoil for the aa12)

    I think the rapid fire not applying recoil nerfs correctly isn't the case for every gun, from my own hand testing on the MP7, it's definitely adding more recoil.

    My meta build for all ars and lmgs is as follows .
    Muzzle booster
    Rapid fire barrel
    Lightweight stock
    Leather wrapped
    Quick mag or and reflex on lmg .
    Especially good on the M60 !

    I tested this out with the ACR on the firing range and this is NOT the case in 100% of the time. After watching this I changed my loadout and suddenly noticed I had issues hitting my targets. After a small detour to the firing range I found out, that sometimes your recoil gets decreased, sometimes it gets increased. I either had more or less recoil firing with the two attachments, but it was constantly changing back and forth. This seems to be super bugged and for the sake of consistency and a predictable recoil, I decided not to use the fire rate increasing attachments

    MP7 heavy barrel, recoil booster, quick draw grip, extended mag (i really like having more bullets for multiple gun fights) and reflex site now you still have a great fire rate and on top of having between 301ms - 303ms ttk within 18m now to most a 2ms - 4ms ttk will make absolutely jack squat of a difference but i do play on a 1440p 480hz display so even though its barely even noticeable i do appreciate that small difference

    What about the marksman rifles? If there’s no reduction in burst delay in the M16, is it then totally pointless to use it on a single shot weapon?

    Battlefield 2042 had attachments like the Rapid Fire attachment but with a negligible bullet velocity penalty, and is the go to choice if it is available for that gun. Safe to say any attachment that boosts fire rate is gonna be OP or a no brainer pick
    Fire rate can also make or break a gun, in MWIII the sidewinder is considered bad because of the slow fire rate while the bas-b was the top gun in the category due to the firerate, until the firerate nerf kicked it out of the face of the meta

      Biggest nerf in Firerate category that comes to mind is the FG-42 in CoD WW2. It went from a 3 shot kill at basically any range (maps were not big enough) faster than any other gun to being an alright gun overshadowed by the BAR after. Since I never got many DLC guns the BAR was my go to, they didn’t nerf it to the ground like the FG-42.

      The ttk is a lor important than firerate though. The sidewinder is killing in 320 ms and needs both head shots for a 2 shot unless you put it into semi. The bas b on the other hand had an initial ttk of 270 and needed 2/3 headshots for a 3 shot kill. The holger 556 has a slightly slower fire rate than the bas b even after its nerf, but was still considered one of the best ARs in the game before they nerfed it cause a single head shot could take it down to a 3 shot kill.
      Not to mention vanguard where the attachments that decreased fire rate in exchange for damage were by far superior to the attachments that increased fire rate at the cost of damage.

    Went and tested a bit after seeing the vid and noticed that i would sometimes see it apply the recoil bug and other times it didnt, eventually found that if you adjust your aim at any point while firing (like when trying to counter act recoil) the bug wouldnt work and the recoil negatives on the attachments seemed to properly apply

      He mentioned it in the vid. It doesn’t make it so you can fire the bursts quicker it just increases the fire rate of the burst itself.

    You mention that the RoF attachments do not affect the burst delay on burst guns, does this mean that these attachments are also useless to run on marksman rifles/sniper rifles? Thanks

      RoF attachments aren’t useless on burst or single fire weapons. RoF attachments increase delay on single fire weapons but only makes the burst faster on burst weapons. This means you can get more bursts off faster with one of these attachments. The faster the burst the sooner the delay, the sooner the delay the faster you can follow up.

    I definitely disagree with this video, the M4 and MDR especially seem to have CONSIDERABLY more recoil with the rate of fire attachments. ACR I can agree might be broken but definitely not all assault rifles

    I don’t know if is me or not. But I notice that the light suppressor, is making my time to kill faster in game. I try changing the muzzle during gameplay to the muzzle booster and then I start feeling how it takes more time to kill is weird.

    In the range the ttk is unchanging for some guns when using muzzle booster. I'm at around 300 fps or higher this is testing isolated in the range. Hopefully we get private matches soon to test more.

    So when i first unlocked the MDR, i saw that it had the fastest fire rate for assault rifles and i wanted to make a ridiculous fast AR. My firend and i were playing and i couldnt get over how nasty that gun is with these attachments. I just didnt know the recoil nerfs were actually buffs so the rest of my attachments went to minimizing those nerfs. Definitely op

    So its a bug, needs to be fixed. I guess they thought "it's -20%, so lets multiply recoil by it" but since it's a negative value, it lowers recoil instead of increasing it, so it should be "+20%" instead :)
    I guess it the works the same for all attachements which have a "red text" (meaning 'negative impact') and a negative value to something that is supposed to be "lower to be better".

      This explains why the vertical grip feels like it helps with horizontal recoil (as increasing vertical could detract from some of the horizontal deviations)

    Depends on the weapon and their damage values
    The obvious should be a lower dmg or lower fire rate gains a nice benefit in ttk and damage potential,primarily in close to mid range.
    But at long,even extreme range, certain weapons can actually perform worse if you don't have sufficient recoil control.
    (On pc this shouldn't be an issue and on console,with or without aim assist,just burst fire by tap firing your trigger/bumper) or adjust your aim opposite of where the recoil moves
    -Recoil Recovery benefits insane fire rate based weapons as well as semi / high kick weapons compared to more accurate weapons
    - Heavy barrel benefits fast fire rate based weapons compared to let's say an ak47 where by default it's 600 and would still need 5 shots to kill regardless of the 5% damage buff,losing the fire rate from 600 to 540-560 is not a good tradeoff
    - My personal favorite and honest recommendation would be the vector and heavy barrel,as even though your fire rate goes from 1000 to 900,you would still have the fastest fire rate in game currently.
    The reason I say Heavy Barrel is the best on the Vector,is because by default the vector only does 19 dmg,meaning you need 6 bullets (body) to take down someone from close to mid range specifically.
    But if you equip the Heavy barrel,then your damage will go from 19,to 20..meaning 5 hits and you'll beat a 100 hp enemy and 6 for a 120hp phantom.

    Make a video on Echelon's intel suit and how stupidly broken it is, especially when 4 out of 6 players on the same team can use it at the same time and stagger spam intel + sonar goggles for the entire game

      This is where perks, even if not many options, would have came in handy. There needs to be a counter to their abilities. Literally had a game where my teammate and an enemy both dropped 60 kills on Occupy cause both teams were stacked with Echelon’s. I think I was spotted nearly that entire game…

      Yea the sonar ping should only ping once not 5 fucking times and the ult should be either wall hacks or the powerful 1 shot pistol, not both lmao. At least they let you know when the enemy is ulting I literally just run away the whole time out of spite

    LoL.
    So my booster rapid fire vector is the best close range full auto weapon.... nice.
    Also the point if rapid fire vs not, is to win vs your own weapon class, and to win harder vs others you beat naturally.
    Sometimes snipers and shottys need to die before they ads. I like the 7.5% faster firerate in vector to make SURE they go down.
    As for heavy barrel.... vector does 23 to head... 24 isn't making or breaking anything.
    20 to chest is nice but I only need 2 head out of 5 rounds for it to be the same.

    Also the reason the recoil isnt as bad is because youre shooting faster AKA less time for the gun to kick up so youre really just lazering tbh. I use muzzle and rapid on EVERYTHING no reason not too... just get good basically

      This was one of the theories I had. I thought they may have been using a timeline system for the recoil path but further testing showed this doesn’t appear to be the case.

    So when they fix this the assault rifles will be even less competitive against the SMGs (MP7) which are super strong at the moment. Hmm... complicated situation for AR users.

    For one, M16 does not get a faster ttk with rapid fire. MDR is noticeably harder to control with rapid fire. Not sure how you’re getting these numbers but something is off if you’re measuring a faster ttk for the m16 with rapid fire.

      Frame by frame testing at 120fps. It’s absolutely faster but the firing range timer isn’t accurate enough to pick up on it as I believe the tick rate is max 60Hz

    Tbh it’s not worth it the recoil is super low in XD I much prefer lightweight for mobility its more beneficial because of how cracked the movement is

      Rapid fire is miles better on the m16. The faster the burst the sooner the burst delay, the sooner the burst delay the sooner you can follow up with another shot. It also tightens the burst. Both the 4th and 5th and even 6th shot are within the 2nd burst meaning making the m16 a 4 shot kill from a 5 shot kill is pointless.

      @@thabruhfrom9444 It doesn't change the the time of the burst delay only the speed between each bullet within the burst. You can an OBJECTIVELY faster TTK with heavy by nearly 50ms. Rapid fire can only be considered "better" on the cleaner class due to their passive making the gun a 4 bullet kill with or without heavy barrel.

    This isn't totally true if you're on Mnk. I run both these attachments, only play on Mnk and it definitely (at least on the surface) makes the gun kick off center more. Particularly, horizontally.

    All recoil options atm are not working, increasing or decreasing recoil values does absolutly nothing. They want you to use the extra aim assist and smoothing mechanics when moving (straffing, jumping, slidding) instead. I really doubt they'll "fix" recoil at all.

    (un)fortunately this video is incorrect. Your testing is correct, however I've found that the rapid fire attachments only reduces recoil when recoil recovery is active (i.e. before you move your thumb stick at all). If you retest this you will see that if you move your aim slightly when you start shooting, the rest of the pattern's magnitude with rapid fire attachments is actually greater than it is without the attachment, as would be expected if they were working as intended. The problem appears to be that recoil recovery IS always on when shooting, up until you move your aim at all, and the rapid fire barrel for whatever reason has significantly better recoil recovery.

      Recoil recovery only activates roughly 200ms after you stop firing your gun. I’ve heard from some people that there may be a bug with recoil when input is applied with M&KB but I only test with controller. Also, upon further testing, the negative recoil effects are working as intended for non-assault rifles so that further supports the fact that this is simply a bug
