We’re back to the Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision in Elmhurst, Illinois for a day of filming. The weather started off with scattered showers and thunderstorms. So throughout the video, some trains may be seen in the rain. The rail action started a bit sluggish but picked up in action just around lunch time. In fact, the rail traffic became chaos when we started to pack it up and call it a day. One Union Pacific freight train stopped in the middle of the crossing which blocked the roadway for hours because it was still building up its train in Proviso Yard. It didn’t help the situation when one other Union Pacific freight train sneaked up and also came to a stop before going at restricted speeds into Proviso Yard. As a result, it would be a while before going home since we were stuck at the crossing for what seemed like forever. After this little episode, we didn’t want to end the day like that. So we took a chance and waited on one more train before we packed it up and called it a day. Luckily, it didn’t sit at the crossing for over an hour like the other two trains did. Overall, it was a good day at Elmhurst despite the wet conditions and the bizarre incident that happened at the end of the day. Coming up next is a trip back to the CP C&M Subdivision in Lake Forest, Illinois. Yes, we’re praying that no other train stops us like that ever again.
