An Environmentalist type of hero, but then they flipped it and made him a environmentalist villain, exploiting nature for his machines and made an animal hero that would stop him. Humble beginnings for Eggman and the series.

The idea of making the Sonic characters accurate representations of their respective animals is so incredible, and tbh Rouge and Tails are the cutest two imo
honestly... it's kinda cute. Imagine that entire plot of sonic games is those animals idea of what happening around them. And Eggman is a grouchy animal-lover kinda deal. Knuckles obsessed with plastic gem. Shadow is a rescue hog (rescue from abusive family, brought in by the kid to prevent siblings and her parents from abusing him more... there is a real life story about a kid and a pup like that). Vector is a rescue croc that was in a small box for a lot of years so he didn't grow up (yeah, there is a real-life story about that type of abuse). Tails is a rescue as well, he was rescued from malpracticing breeders. All of the animals in Ivo's home were at some point mistreated by humans or lost their caretaker. Still, all the animals see him as a big bad evil guy. It all started with his discovering a little hedgie on a stormy day drowning in a very deep puddle in a park. That's how Ivo adopted Sonic.
