Ok, this is a long comment. Here are some tips for anyone who want's to start painting on glass: I started painting on glass a few months ago, I realized that the best option for contouring would be a permanent marker or an oil-based one, if the lines on the glass are too transparent you should outline 2 or 3 times to get rid of traces and gaps. The paint should not be liquidy at all, the thicker the better. Usually I start with small details, shadows and lights, before applying one color over another you have to wait for it to dry otherwise they will mix !!! You can test the painting on the marker on a piece of glass, you can write or draw something on that piece and then rub lightly a few times with the paint, that is how you will see if the marker is good enough or not. And the thin brushes are the best for details. Thanks for reading this comment, hehe😄
I hope a lot of people can take inspiration from this video, sometimes things don't always work out, but keep at it and don't give up! I would've gotten so upset at having to start over so many time, but the way you kept experimenting until it worked was admirable, and the end result was great!
@@seraffym_ Black paint tends to wash out other colors it’s mixed with, often going too dark or desaturating them too much for what you’d normally want. Depending on the style you’re going for, it’s more recommended to use complimentary colors to desaturate and darken the colors. It’s all down to preference, but black is generally not recommended “in large amounts” at all (I like using black for dynamic shading, but again, preference!).
one of the best way to paint on glass is using acrylic paintings because once it is dryed, it doesn't mixed with the pen and colours. Love you! I love your videos!!
Hey Minori, if you want a cheaper alternative to glass to create anime cels, try using acetate sheets!! It's like a thin plastic :) The outcome was so beautiful!!
I never knew that is how they did anime back in the day. That would explain the beautiful scenes and the style. I'm currently watching the anime from 1995. Your glass artwork came out so well. It's beautiful. 😁👌💕
It was really refreshing to see you post that you made mistakes. Most artist will just say they did. This came out really good for a first try! You could probably use duralar or acetate in replacement of glass but you wont get a second chance like glass. Instead of mrcolor paint, you could use gouache, acrylic/acylic gouache or poster paint since thats what they used back then. Mrcolor paint is actually a lacquer based hobby acrylic which is why the paint melted.
I was SO excited when I saw you had been included in the rewind! It was honestly the best rewind I have ever seen. Painting on glass looked so fun although super mind warping because you kind of have to do everything backwards so it takes a lot of forethought.
I really inspires me the way she never give up and has the courage to erase everything and start from scratch. It's not a easy thing to do in general and this definitely help me to try working on this in my own projects
Funny enough, you actually can still buy the clear acetate paper online. It's not super common of course, but it is out there. A website i found called Cartoon Supplies let's you buy the blank cels, as well as loads of other supplies too. So might be a fun video idea for the future if you can get your hands on some!
Ive noticed that with other glass painters they put their black outlines on the side you would be looking at and then they painted on the other side for colour, am i the only one thats seen that way?
This is so cool! In high school (1998-ish) we actually painted animation cels in my art class. We used acetate, india ink, and acrylic paints. They were so much fun!
