I did layered glass paintings like this in college! It was so much fun and I've been wanting to do it again. I also painted windows for businesses, though that was always exhausting and stressful. You've inspired me to start painting again!! (I struggle explaining how to paint like this too, but it's the only way painting makes sense to me)

A similar technique I saw recently was people painting on resin in layers, where you pour one layer, paint the farthest back part, pour another layer, and build up from the back. Might be worth looking into

Painting on glass is indeed difficult so this came out soo good! It's very similar to working with layers of cels of animation! It turned out great! I hope you can make a super vibrant colorful piece next time!!

I really love the layers. It would be really cool to see how far you could go with it and get the depth with water. I think it would look so cool!
When minori said the story about the character, i was like " that is like me when i was in elementary but wat"
Something to push the "3D" effect for would be to put her torso on the last panel too. Then it really would look like her body is back and her face and hands are really I'm front of it. But for a first time using layers I still think this is wonderful! You can just make the effect even more drastic next time!
