At 14 or 15, Reinventing Your Exit (and Hawthorne Heights) opened me up to liking screaming, when i only ever enjoyed pop rock (Relient K basically) before that. Friends tried to play me stuff like Zao and Becoming the Archetype but it was really DTGL that got me hooked, beginning with this track. Now i love it all, and all genres.

spencer going full melodic on the chorus at 1:19 gives me so many fucking chills it's not about them being heavier or lighter as a whole- it's the lighter and heavier parts being more impactful, and if we keep getting this level of soulcrushing screams and beautiful singing like this i'll be in heaven

for years I've wanted Spencer to do his own solo project that is 100% heavy, no cleans, no subtlety, just as heavy as he's willing to get. Nothing against the dudes in Underoath, they're great, I just wanna see what he is capable of in terms of committing to heavy music with every last ounce of energy he has to offer.
