GOODBYE TO ITS HOST TOWN OF GÜTERSLOH
26 REGIMENT ROYAL ARTILLERY HAS SPENT 41 YEAHRS IN GERMANY, THE LAST 30 OF THEM IN GÜTERSLOH
I witnessed this ceremony live there in Gutersloh. Must admit your video much better than that of recorded by me. Thumbs up 😊
Thank you for the video Dieter. My very first posting was to 26 Field Regiment (RA) Light Aid Detachment REME when they were then stationed in Dortmund in 1978. There where 5 batteries as I recall including M Battery Royal Horse Artillery with swingfire guided missiles and a heavy battery of 110 artilery guns which could fire theatre nuclear shells. The cold war was at its height and we were constantly on the field even into the US sector on the Czech border. BAOR was a prime posting for the British soldier with an additional overseas allowance. I still miss the schnitzels and German folk who worked on base. I suppose it is an end of an era. Went north to Fallingbostal on the day the IRA exploded a bomb where I should have been the duty clerk that night! My fond farewell to you all.

Thanks for excellent work to Mr. Tony Domeisen MBE. Many years dedicated to strengthening British-German relations. Stationed in Hannover, later transferred to Guetersloh. Was a very nice neighbour in Kleefeld!

I was there 79 - 82 at RAF Gutersloh.
I did my National Service with 26 Regiment 16 (Sandhams) Battery, Jan1961 -June 1962, At that time they were stationed at Terendak Camp, Malaysia and part of 28 Commonwealth Brigade. 16 Battery was assigned as fire support for 1 Royal Australian Regiment and we were equipped with 25 pounders .

Anyone know the story behind this scene ? I know germany and UK have been allied for a long time now since WW 2 but what is the story behind this unit ? Great ceremony anyway.

I miss the forces. They are lacking in the cityscape I grew up with there. Some good friends left the neighbourhood that day.

I've seen a good number of these parades on You Tube but NONE of then were professionally prepared by the Army commanders! All are amateur footage! What does that tell you about the British class system?

I had no idea British still had military forces in Germany.
If it wasn’t for the British Army of the Rhine - BAOR - they’d all be speaking RUSSIAN.
The British got rid of the oldest regiment in the British Army. Of course it was a Scottish regiment, wouldn't be English.

Danke Herr Drews. Es wird wirklich Zeit alle Besatzungstruppen zu verabschieden. Vor allem die Amerikaner und vor allem Ramstein wieder an ein souveränes Deutschland zu übergeben.

1917 the Russians were militarily defeated by the Germans und sued for peace. The resulting Peace of Brest Litowsk included independence for Finnland, Ukraine and self determination for the Baltics and Belarus.
This Treaty of Brest Litows was later nullified by London.
1941 London declared war on the fine Finns even to support Russia.
Thus London is responsible for this mess in Ukraine !

Elizabeth II has been on so many Independence ceremonies in the 50s and 60s, her ancestors have flooded their coffins with tears over the lost territories. How many of the former territories are still under the total thumb of the UK ? Only those, that really want to be, such as Falklands, Gibraltar, etc. Even the big ones, such as Canada and Australia are having the Monarch as a symbolic Head of State, VOLUNTEERLY.
