As someone who can do almost everything I need in FCP (thanks to Ripple's training programs!), I can see that the paid Resolve product could be a cost-effective alternative to a bunch of FCP plugins. So, I would love a YT video (or short course) for FCP users about the best way to use Resolve a companion app for people who choose to edit with FCP, but may occasionally hit a pain point where FCP does not have the tools to solve the problem. This would be rather like the ability to use Motion to create solutions, for which Mark's courses have been invaluable.
Using Final Cut is like thinking your Ford focus is a race car. There is absolutely nothing final cut can do that resolve can’t do better. Resolve is better in every possible way.
@@2424rocket Well, that's a foolish attitude. Polarity responses betray a lack of subtlety. I own both tools and choose to use FCP to cut my videos, because I can get the results I want more quickly and easily using it. That doesn't mean that Resolve is not a fabulous tool and better for many people (like you). It just means that it is the best tool for me. I don't think it's a race car. I think its FCP and is perfect at doing what I want from FCP. Meanwhile, you stick to Resolve, which is not a race car either: it's Resolve.
I haven't tried Dialog Separator yet. Do you feel it works better than the Voice Isolation feature in FCP? I feel that FCP makes voices sound like a Zoom call, which is not good.
@@GameSack dialogue separator works nearly flawlessly. I’ve never used FCP but I’ve used similar tools in premiere and it took a lot of tweaking and eq work to get it to sound ok. Just this week tested dialogue separator and it took out a heavy music track without any noticeable degradation to the voice. I mean gone, like it was never there.
Some of these are extremely useful, such as the auto-captioning and the transcription-based editing you showed after that. That would be awesome for interview-based segments, especially if it can be used with multicam. I haven't fired up Resolve 19 yet, but can you control the audio ducking speed? The fades feel too fast and as a result they really stand out to my ear. I think I'd prefer to still do those manually because often each fade requires its own nuance depending on what's going on, audibly.

Interlaced HD? Who the hell uses that format in 2024. I hope nobody got paid for doing that. That’s an abomination. I haven’t shot HD in years… Everything is in 4K and everything is progressive. And some of my projects I shoot 6K red. Yikes!

This is exactly what I would need to venture away from FCP.

Three I use all the time, besides Superscale and Create Subtitles are Magic Mask, Dialogue Seperator and Music Remixer.

It was an old clip. The point is about incorporating archival material.
If you edit a documentary you are often given legacy footage that you need to include in the story - so you don’t have a choice where it comes from.
