These are most fun maps for FFA, BGH and maps like that are boring. Whoever can turtle the best with most bases wins. In these it’s so open that it makes it more interesting. You gotta really look at your surroundings and make sure that you’re covering your ass
I like what the guy said above me, but I'd like to tac on that modern map design is incredibly stupid. We've basically killed map design in the name of balance and quick thrills, so maps have the feeling of being extremely sanitized. As a result it's very rare we actually see the game played out to its maximum 'fun-ness,' if you will.
Artosis you should do a little FFA league, keep standings for all the common players, have a final tournament of champions with some kind of funny prize or signed swag or something, would be pretty cool!
That's the thing about FFA on maps like these though: an asl pro is just as likely as anybody else to go out early to an indefensible all-in rush or getting 2v1'd.

Lol Tosissenpai with "zerg why do you hate me so", when he literally killed the zerg at the cost of the entire game. He was under attack by orange and was getting his base destroyed by the zerg, but instead of defending and repairing his BC's he just killed the zergs production and tech.
I feel like in these FFA’s they could win with defilers but no one seems to pull it off. Like they get 1 part “oh I plagued” but never follow it up with dark swarmed hydra or devourers or anything that could kill those BC’s…
I love Broodwar FFAs, so much more fun that LotV FFAs! Tribes is one of the better maps for FFAs, not uneven like Killing Fields or Labyrinth (but makes for fun games) or Green Valleys. It is symmetrical, like Homeworld, which is another good FFA map.
I feel like Dark swarm is kinda stupid. I know its how its been for 20 years but really, it would make more sense if units under the swarm were able to attack each other normally, and units outside the swarm were unable to reach in. i.e. rogue smoke bomb from wow. So a LOS blocker instead of a total invulnerability from ranged. It would retain its ability as the ultimate ground cover ability against air, and still be able to get you the tactical advantage in matchups by sequestering a portion of the enemy forces, but as it stands right now its pretty OP....

SPOILER Ronin should be banned from playing. He said GG then snuck a base. It actually cost OJ a mining spot because he had to kill Ronins shit first. I haven’t finished the game yet but it looks like OJ should win so it didn’t matter, but it really could have fucked OJ.

I’m not whining, I’m just pointing out that saying GG and then continuing to play in secret is a really shitty move and considering there are limited spots for a lot of people, I’d rather someone who plays with honour play instead of a snake.

Actually not only do you not secretly build but you lift off if Terran or kill any buildings in the way of another player. And if you think I’m a bitch look at what Artosis did in the last game he played FFA. He went out of his way to lift everything and not get in anyone’s way even tho he spent a minute or two of not observing the action to do it.
The map that favors Terran super hard is the one that Artosis is like "Oh this might be a good map actually"
Ad ramps to high ground or replace with raised jungle and it will be okehish for ffa and 3v3 4v4

You werent bad, probably needed to switch techs but you can hardly be blamed for not having full coverage of everything in a cramped FFA.
