That sucks. I did the same thing with a streamer size maybe 6. It happened to me in the morning. I keep on fishing until dark. Then I drove to the hospital in Mammouth California. I got to the hospital and saw all the cars in the parking lot and remembered waiting in an emergency room for hours, and said, heck with it. By this time the hook had been in there for maybe twelve hours. I was starting to swell up and fester. Well, I bit the bullet and twisted it out. I too was brave, except I waited all day to get up the courage. Mine was a single hook, not a trebble. You were a lot braver than I was.
Another time I was walking back along the Madison River in Montana toward my car. I ran into another fisherman who asked me if I knew how to remove a hook? I said yes, I use to practice on an orange. Well as it turned out, my practicing paid off. I cut a piece of heavy fishing line a little over two feet long. I strung it right in front of the bend in the hook halfway. With my right thumb, I pushed down on the hook eye. Now, holding tight to the line going in front of the bend in the hook, with my left hand holding both ends of the line, I ran my hand up against the hook bend to create slack in the line, Then I started to count to three, I said " OK, one" and then yanked the line and walla, the hook popped out. I wanted to extract the hook before the count of three so by then, it was already out. Kinda hard to explain but it worked great. I watched a fishing guide do it once. It was not a treble hook.
I think it was Bill Dance or one of them that did that like you explained. I sure miss Montana. I lived there for around 10 years. I dont miss the cold though.
Me and my son went fishing one time and on like his second cast he done the same thing but only it buried in his leg. I said can you hang in there for a bit so we can at least fish a little.....Lol

I did the same thing when when I was a kid. Barb went in. I think I remember just ripping it out. All in all, well handled.
lucky me I just hooked my butt,not much sympathy from my mother or younger sisters ! I am barbless now , but it it still hurts though .
