Your channel is growing wow! Please don’t let these business sharks come in and convince you to add anything to your style! I love you because you don’t push merch or waste time. I do wish Walmart had an affiliate program like Amazon, that you could get earnings off the grocery shopping lists. You crush at managing and editing (I assume) your own channel. Don’t let anyone change your style sis! Hugs from North Carolina ❤
I very much agree. The sharks will come and try to tempt you. Please don't give in to them. We (my friends and I) love your channel just like it is, and we love your recipes. Sometimes they're like an adventure because we live in Europe and have to substitute some ingredients, but I can tell you: The Tastiness of your recipes prevails, no matter what! That's so awesome! ♥
I agree , this channel is perfect! I have stopped watching quite a few channels that are merch pushers as well. This channel just makes me happy and inspires me.
I made the tamale casserole tonight. I doubled it and added extra taco seasoning. My hunny told me he loves this and he wants me to fix this often! It was a huge hit here! Thank you Julia!
I love your recipes! I had been struggling with a severe depression and once I was coming out of the other side, I needed simple easy basic things to make. Not something involving 3 pans and a bunch of dishes. I tried a home meal delivery but it was still so many dishes! Your videos gave me the first recipes I needed to feel confident in the kitchen again! I used to do the full meals but after 2020 I didn't know how to cook foods I liked in an easier way. I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing your recipes with us! I am so grateful ❤
I am so very happy to hear that you enjoyed my recipe so much. That means so much to me! I am happy to hear that you are coming out on the other side of your severe depression. I’m sure that has been a very difficult road for you. Thank you so very much for watching and I really do hope things get better for you and you continue to feel success in the kitchen🙌🏼🙌🏼
I know almost all of us are really trying to keep our grocery budget under control so these budget and family friendly recipes are GREATLY appreciated! I hope you and your adorable girls are enjoying your summer.
Things are just crazy! I think you’re exactly right. We’re all trying to do just that. Thank you so much for your kind words about my girls and I hope you have a great rest of your week💜🙌🏼
I love that you make these videos. It really can be done. The thought of anyone going to bed hungry or kids only eating junk food because it’s cheap and convenient makes me sad. You showing these ways to make hearty meals is encouraging.
I love it! Thank you, Julia! Our food budget unexpectedly went down by a HUGE amount, so these videos are not only comforting because of your attitude and delivery, but also so helpful. So happy to see your channel growing!
I am so happy to hear that his meals can help. I’m sorry to hear that your food budget has gone down. Times are just tough right now for sure at the grocery store! I definitely get that. Thank you so much for your kind words too. That means so much to me🙌🏼You have a wonderful rest of your week!
As a long time viewer I have been able to keep many of these items on hand in my pantry. Tuesday our house went under contract, we're moving 🎉 These recipe's will be such a help here soon and will make for delicious low cost meals during our transition!! Thank you Julia 👏💕
Julia you so remind me of my younger self while I raising 4 children on a minimal wage job in the 80’s and 90’s . My crockpot was my bestie! I could shop those sale ads like a ninja! Menu based on the sales! We loved lentils also! They were .25cents a pound then!!! Lol! My budget was 50$ for 2 weeks. My children and I survived while I was putting myself thru nursing school program and did get my RN !!I’m retired now and in fixed income, so I’m back to my penny pinching grocery budget! Thanks for helping me to refresh my shopping frugally!!❤
You are such an awesome example, Judy! Thank you so very much for sharing what you did during those tough years raising your kids. You absolutely know how to be frugal and survive! I’m so inspired by people like you and thank you so very much for your positive feedback here💜🙌🏼💜
Love your recipes Julia! Here’s a hint if you don’t have a jar of sauce): a can of tomato sauce, petite diced tomatoes, 1-2 tsp tomato paste to thicken, diced onion, garlic salt, and your seasonings (Italian seasoning). I add a Tablespoon of brown sugar (cuts the acid in the tomatoes).
These are even great for me. I live alone but I can make it for dinner and freeze portions individually for me to take to work for lunches. Thank you, Julia for helping me stay in budget.
I don’t know if you ever made ziti with broccoli, oil, garlic, grated cheese. It’s delicious. Also I make one 8oz bag of frozen spinach with 2 cans of white beans, one pureed, one drained, chicken bouillon, oil, garlic, crusty Italian bread to sop up the sauce. All low cholesterol, high fiber, high protein.
If you have sour cream on hand add a tablespoon to the first recipe: taco/corn muffin mix. The sour cream adds a great taste and texture to the muffin mix.
I love, love, love, how you show all of us how you can stick to a budget, and still have nutritional, and delicious meals.oh,Julia, you're so amazing ❤️ I appreciate you so much.thank you for this amazing video 😊I hope you all are staying safe, happy and healthy 🙏❤️🙏😇🤗🙏
Thank you so very much for your loyal support, Melissa and I sure do appreciate your kind words too. It means so much to me to have great friends like you! Thank you so much and I hope you have a great rest of your week💜🙌🏼
The tamale casserole was absolutely delicious and keeps me full for the rest of the night when I come home from work. And it stretches well and feeds my sibling and I for the week. Well done for feeding us and keeping it affordable Julia, you’re such a savior 😭💕
I am so very happy to hear that! Thank you so very much for sharing your positive feedback about that meal and I’m so glad that it stretches so far for you and your family🤗
I am leaving my teaching job next week and beginning part-time remote work so I can be home with my son. I've already been getting into the habit of eating budget meals. Thank you for these recipes that are affordable and accessible while still incorporating nutrition! With eating on a budget, it's about what you can add to your meals to make them healthier and tastier, rather than what you have to subtract from them.
I made the Tamale Casserole recipe because I had 3 of the ingredients in my pantry already, and WOW, it is so easy and delicious. Thanks for always thinking of the woman on the go. Most importantly, thank you for simplifying things for those of us who don’t have a lot of time!
Well thank you so very much for your positive feedback about that meal! I’m so happy to hear that you had those ingredients in your pantry and that it turned out so well. Have a great rest of your week and thanks for watching💜💜
Julia, you don’t hesitate to use spices. Even just the common ones like garlic & onion powder and Italian seasoning make the big difference. Thanks for your common easy solutions to what’s for dinner
I have made the Shepherds Pie a few times now, and let me tell you it is absolutely delicious. It is easy to make but still has amazing flavor and is true comfort food. I think it will be my go to meal if I am taking a meal to a friend. Thank you Julia! So very grateful for your channel.
That’s wonderful! Thank you so very much for sharing your positive feedback about that shepherds pie. And you are so right! It would make a great meal to share with others. Thank you so much again I hope you have a great weekend💜💜
One of the struggles I’ve had since my marriage broke up, is that the chef moved out. So I have eaten out a lot and it’s taking a toll on both my waist and wallet. Watching your videos actually makes me want to cook which is completely unheard of. I’m going to go to the grocery store and start on these right away. They will make my teacher paycheck go a long way.
I am so sorry to hear about your recent divorce. I am happy to hear that these recipes motivate you to want to cook. It definitely is hard after teaching all day I am sure! Thank you so very much for watching and I sure do appreciate your support💜💜
Making even one of these meals each week helps keep down the food budget. I just made your lentil and potato soup (added a bit of smoked sausage) and it was wonderful, plus it made a lot. We are a household of two, so it's nice to have a few lunches in the freezer! Thanks for all your great recipes!
I’m so happy to hear that you were able to use some of these ideas in your home, Kathy. Thank you so much for your positive comment and have a great day💜
Julia- you have been such a blessing to my family as our expenses have gone up and our income has stayed about the same. The only wiggle room I had was in the food budget. I want to thank you for taking the time to share your talents of preparing meals within a budget. My family loves your meals and I find them to be hearty, nutritious, and delicious! Thank you again!
I am so very happy to hear that these help, Jonelle. Struggling with a budget is never easy or fun. With prices in the grocery store so high right now, it is definitely challenging. I appreciate you here and I hope things get better for you and your family!🙏💜
I started shredding my own cheese after watching your videos and seeing the price difference. I also think the cheese melts better. Thank you Julia for the new recipes! I cant wait to try aome of them out on my picky husband 😂😂🎉🎉
Same!! I had never seen the mozzarella blocks at Walmart before until Julia! The cheese does melt better because the pre-shredded has the anti-caking agent in it! It's much tastier!!
Hi Julia, I got here before you and was disappointed you weren't here. Came back and there you were. Can always count on you for good recipes, something for everyone. See you soon. Stay well and safe.
Hi Julia👋👋👋 You’ve done it again, every recipe you shared today looks amazing and delicious, I can’t wait to try them all especially the one w/the cornbread mix, the hotdog and broccoli casserole and the shepherd’s pie😋 You are such an amazing person, you go above and beyond to share great money saving tips and tricks in the kitchen and I applaud you for your endless efforts and kindness👏👏👏 TYFS and I hope you and yours have a peaceful and blessed day/week my sweet friend, enjoy!♥️💫✨👼🏻✨💫♥️
Thank you so very much, Angela! You are so awesome. I sure do appreciate your love and support and I hope you enjoy some of these recipes this week💜💜🙌🏼
Julia! U are making me look like a good cook! 🥫 Can't wait to try these! Luv how instant potatoes 🥔 save soo much time w shepherds 🥧!! Thx again. Budget friendly is a lifesaver!! 😊 🍟 💕
That’s awesome! If you have a picky eater and they like this, then it definitely is a home run. Have a great rest of your week and I hope you all enjoy💜💜
Unless shredded cheese is on sale, the price is usually higher per oz than on the block. I buy the blocks because they are cheaper, plus it keeps longer in the fridge. Grating cheese is not that hard, I normally ask my kids to help with it. 😊 Thanks again, Julia, for another great set of recipes ❤
Definitely tastes better and melts better. I invested in one of those cream cheese shredders and it’s been worth every penny. Makes shredding so much quicker and easier.
As one who doesn’t get much in snap benefits anymore I’ve been struggling to feed myself for relatively cheap. I’ve been learning from you such as getting store brand ingredients and looking at the price per ounce. Thanks for all that you do, I appreciate you
Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes with us. Love seeing your babies in the vlog. Keep smiling Sweetie, you brighten my day. Have a blessed and beautiful day.
I just want to say that you are my hero! For someone who's not much of a cook and doesn't really like cooking like me ! Your easy recipes makes so much easier to get dinner on the table without all the stress of trying to over think what to make and less prep time. Easy and delicious 😋 Amazing.
Thanks again Julia, keep up the great work. I would like to ask again if you would teach/show how to make Tuna noodle casserole please. Thank you so much, God bless you, Cindy Hughes 🙏
Thank you so very much again for your suggestion. I’m sorry I have not fit that in yet! I really appreciate your suggestion and thank you so much for watching too🙌🏼
I have a big family, 8 kids lol and I love watching your videos it gives me new ideas for dinner, and my kids always end up loving whatever I make from your videos ❤
That is wonderful, Amanda! I’m so happy to hear that everybody enjoys my meals. That is pretty difficult I am sure with so many kids. Thank you so much for your positive support💜💜
I started watching you a few days ago and I just want to say thank you. My family is struggling with affording groceries and finding healthy meals to eat on such a low budget. I cannot wait until I can afford your cookbook. You have been a blessing! Thank you
Thank you so very much for joining me here, Brandi. I am happy to hear that you and your family are able to use these recipes. I’m sorry that times are tough for you right now and I hope things get better soon! Thank you so much for subscribing and welcome to my UA-cam family💜💜
You did it again it's so awesome all of them look delicious most of them are under $10 dollars you've helped so many people thank you for helping so many you're an angel❤
I don't know how you do it but you always manage to show us incredibly delicious meals that are inexpensive and packed with flavor and nutrition! You're a big help to those of us on a tight budget just trying to keep up with the ever-increasing prices. Thank you for all that you do!
Made the Tamale Casserole. I used black beans and a half pack of Taco Mix low sodium- I didn't have cumin. Very yummy!! Thank you for these delicious economical recipes!
If I have a cup or so of leftover mashed potatoes, I often make shepherds pie. I make it almost the same way, but use a half pound of hamburger. I sometimes mix water and flour with the potatoes if I need more. It is a delicious winter comfort food that will provide at least 3 servings.
Great budget friendly and healthy recipes, Julia! Thank you so much! Just a few ingredients that come together into deliciousness! I am really looking forward to trying these meals. Have a great week, Julia! 😊❤
I recently stumbled upon this channel and I've made a few dishes and haven't been disappointed yet! So far the favorite for my family was a pasta salad dish you posted. Mayo, Italian dressing and ranch powder make the dressing and my daughter is in love with that salad! Perfect for summer snacking!
I am so very happy to hear that! I am so happy to have you here as one of my subscribers. That really makes my day to know that you enjoy my channel. Thanks so much for your loyal support and have a great week💜
Good morning Julia, these look amazing , with the cost of food and everything else this is going to help so many people........ thank you for sharing these wonderful recipes. Have a wonderful Sunday Julia and family ❤
Hi Julia! I want to say "THANK YOU" for all that you do to inspire people to cook new recipes. I really like that you make your recipes budget friendly, and I've tried many of them and they are so delicious! Can't wait to buy your cookbook soon!
You are just so awesome! Thank you so very much for your positive feedback and yes! I am still working on that cookbook. I am so excited about it and can’t wait for it to come out soon🙌🏼
I used to buy spagetti sauce until i started making it myself many years ago. Takes only 30min from start to finish. Sooo good and much better than the store bought. :o)
@@sandrahudziec723 This recipe is from America's Test Kitchen but I tweeked it and added onion or used dried basil... 1 small onion finely chopped, 1/8 tsp baking soda, 2 Tbsp olive oil, 2-3 gloves garlic minced, 3/4 tsp kosher salt, 2 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 28oz can crushed tomatoes, 1/4 tsp sugar, 2 Tbsp fresh basil coarsely chopped or 1 Tbsp dried basil.... 1. add 1 tbsp oil to sauce pan. add onion and baking soda, cook until onion is soft. it will turn yellow which is a chemical reaction from the baking soda. this softens and browns the onions quicker than waiting 5 min or so, it is a great trick I learned from ATK, makes the onions melt into the sauce and add more flavor 2. off heat add garlic, salt, oregano and pepper flakes, return to heat cook til fragrant (30 sec) 3. stir in tomatoes and sugar. increase to high and bring to simmer. 4. reduce heat to med low, cover and simmer until thickened (20 min) 5. off heat stir in basil and remaining oil, season with salt and pepper to taste. I do tend to cook mine for 30 min, I like a thicker sauce as we also use it on pizza and lasagna. It will stay in the fridge for about a week or so in a plastic container in the back of the ridge. Longer in a glass jar. Let me know if you try it and your thoughts. ☺
Love watching all your videos , very easy recipes and budget friendly. Only suggestion I have is to mince your meat up more into smaller pieces when frying it so it incorporates in the recipe better. So many big chucks. Only my opinion of course , people may like big chunks .
How to save even more money: buy dried instead of canned beans and cook them yourself. It's super easy with an instant pot. You can even pre-cook them and freeze in portions in ziplock bags. Buy a giant bag of frozen corn instead of canned (save the rest for other meals). Buy cornmeal and make your own corn muffin mix: 2/3 cup flour, 1/2 cup cornmeal, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 Tbsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt and 2 Tbsp oil. Also, I would highly recommend rinsing your rice.
Thank you for giving me the confidence to cook Julia! ❤ I am so thankful I found your channel way back! (I think you were around 30,000 subs and look at you grow and grow!) So well deserved! 🙏💕I appreciate the budget friendly recipes.
These are amazing Mrs. Julia uno when you have a big family these come in very helpful. Thank you for all you do for us. I really do appreciate you and your channel. Macie is getting so big and she is absolutely adorable.
Fyi, fresh broccoli tends to be even cheaper than the packages! :) Also, i used to get the broccoli pieces instead of the florets but it seemed like every time i got the pieces there were a bunch of stringy and inedible pieces mixed in 🤢 Thanks for all of your work putting these together! :)
You are so very welcome! And I agree with you, I definitely prefer the florettes. Thanks so much for your tip about the fresh Broccoli! Have a great rest of your day🙌🏼🙌🏼
Your recipes are deeelish !! I love the squash over spaghetti, or any pasta. I use zucchini, squash, and onions, and if I can’t find fresh, I’ll use the frozen blend. I have some leftover hotdogs, and all the other ingredients. I’ll be making that tonight !!❤
I've been wracking my brain for home cooked meals for my husband and I that are healthy and that are in our budget too. It's been so hard to think of things to eat! Thank you so much for putting in the time and effort to make this video and all the hard work you put into it. God Bless you.
You are so very welcome and I really do hope that these recipes help with your budgeting needs. Thank you so much for your positive feedback and I hope you have a great rest of your week💜🙌🏼
Thank you so very much, Elaine! I really do appreciate that and you can always learn to cook. I hope you enjoy these recipes and thank you so very much again💜💜
Love these budget meals dinners. They are easy and it doesn't take a lot of time to make it. Summer is really kicking in. The weather here is super hot. Going to try the BBQ hot dogs. Have a great week. Greetz from the 🇳🇱🇳🇱
Hi Julia!!! I liked that you gave us a list of all the ingredients.Yes I think everyone has to watch their budget now a days. Prices are ridiculous. I liked all your recipes but am picking the Tamale casserole. I never had that. Thanks for all these... Oh, I like your casserole dishes and plates. I just like pretty things...Sending this video to my family!!!...Take Care...Great Video my dear friend!!!
Yum, I love these recipes. And its so true, when shredding your cheese at home. It's just creamier. Thanks Julia you're a sweetheart. Have a super fantastic day. Sending love and big hugs Sherry ❤
I've bought the broccoli cuts but they're mostly just stems and are hard so I went back to the more expensive. My local grocery store has chopped broccoli that isn't too expensive and that is my favourite! Great video, quite a few ideas are going through my head thanks to this video!
Love all the veggies you use! Yes, the prices have gone up--even "cheap food" has doubled. Most of these ideas can be made utilizing leftovers--after "taco night", see what you have left over and add what you need (beans, enchilada sauce) to the meat and have the casserole the next night. Or make the shepherds pie a day or 2 after a "meat and potatoes " night. I often also use my leftover mashed potatoes for the base of a potato soup or corn chowder that my family loves! Thanks for the ideas! I really want to try the zucchini spaghetti!
Absolutely, Lisa! Thank you so very much for sharing that great feedback about leftovers. You’re so right. Thanks so much for your positive, and have a great rest of your day🙌🏼🙌🏼
Just a quick tip, adding red or green lentils to the pasta sauce of the second recipe would add more protein to keep one full and make it a more balanced meal! I do this a lot and use up whatever veggies I have in my fridge at the end of the week
Wow, thank you! I really do appreciate that, Sandy. It definitely takes a lot of work, but I enjoy doing it. Thanks so much for being such a great subscriber of mine🙌🏼🙌🏼
The cheese tastes better when you shred it yourself because when it’s pre shredded, they add cellulose (I think that’s what it is) to prevent the cheese from clumping. So when you shred it yourself, it’s more pure cheese, no powders or fillers to keep it ‘fresh’. HUGE when making your own Alfredo.
Thank you so much for these recipes! It really is insane how much groceries cost now…it is absolutely vital in today’s economy for one to know how to cook and bake from scratch. Pre packaged is so expensive. I’ve known quite a few people that have really had to adjust and start cooking more at home from scratch instead of buying all the packaged items. I’ve always had to be on a strict budget though and thankfully my mom taught me how to cook and bake!!
It is absolutely crazy out there! I hope you enjoy some of these recipes and I’m happy to hear that my videos have helped. And good for you learning some of those great skills from your mom! A lot of people don’t want to listen. Have a wonderful rest of your day and thank you so much for watching🙌🏼🙌🏼
Now that prices have gone up so much, I've found that some Walmart products (like canned beans) are just as expensive as some of the name brands. When that happens, of course, I buy the name brand. You just have to be a good shopper. You can also look at the unit pricing--rice can range in price depending on the package size. I like to get the best deal on things I use regularly.
You’re so very welcome! That is what I hear from my other Canadian viewers to, but I’m happy to hear that my recipes may be able to help in the long run🙌🏼💜

Totally agree
The pre shredded cheese also has filler in it to keep it from sticking so the 8oz block you actually get more real cheese!
I actually came here to say that! Did you know that there is a legal amount you saw dust that can be used in shredded cheese?
I made the tamale casserole tonight. I doubled it and added extra taco seasoning. My hunny told me he loves this and he wants me to fix this often! It was a huge hit here! Thank you Julia!
That’s awesome! Thank you so very much, Ashley💜 I am so happy to hear that you and your husband both enjoyed it so much and great additions too🙌🏼🙌🏼

You do a great job helping us all to keep our grocery bills in the resonable area❤

Thank you so very much, Judy. You are so very kind! I sure appreciate that and I sure do appreciate you watching💜💜
Making even one of these meals each week helps keep down the food budget. I just made your lentil and potato soup (added a bit of smoked sausage) and it was wonderful, plus it made a lot. We are a household of two, so it's nice to have a few lunches in the freezer! Thanks for all your great recipes!
Thanks, Julia! ❤️ We need budget friendly recipes. Groceries are so expensive!!
Thank you so very much! And yes, it’s so much better when you shred it yourself. I hope that you’re picking husband enjoys some of these meals💜💜
Same!! I had never seen the mozzarella blocks at Walmart before until Julia! The cheese does melt better because the pre-shredded has the anti-caking agent in it! It's much tastier!!
Simple delicious recipes and cheap to make. Its perfect, thanks!
Glad you like them! And thank you so very much🙌🏼
Hi Julia, I got here before you and was disappointed you weren't here. Came back and there you were. Can always count on you for good recipes, something for everyone. See you soon. Stay well and safe.
Thank you so much, Julia! It's always great to see when you upload!

Julia! U are making me look like a good cook! 🥫 Can't wait to try these! Luv how instant potatoes 🥔 save soo much time w shepherds 🥧!! Thx again. Budget friendly is a lifesaver!! 😊 🍟 💕
@@JuliaPacheco I absolutely will Julia, thank you♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much for these recipes! I love how they are simple, budget friendly, AND full of flavor. Even my picky eater loves them.
That’s awesome! If you have a picky eater and they like this, then it definitely is a home run. Have a great rest of your week and I hope you all enjoy💜💜
Yummy, Julia!!!! Thank you, as always! And wonderful to see your shopping helper! 😊❤ Blessed week ahead to you and your family!
Unless shredded cheese is on sale, the price is usually higher per oz than on the block. I buy the blocks because they are cheaper, plus it keeps longer in the fridge. Grating cheese is not that hard, I normally ask my kids to help with it. 😊
Thanks again, Julia, for another great set of recipes ❤
And it tastes so much better when you grate it yourself too😊
Definitely tastes better and melts better. I invested in one of those cream cheese shredders and it’s been worth every penny. Makes shredding so much quicker and easier.
Grated cheese generally has an anti caking component in it - typically wood pulp…
I always look forward to your videos and have never been disappointed!! Another homerun! Have a blessed week!
Thank you! You too!💜🙌🏼
As one who doesn’t get much in snap benefits anymore I’ve been struggling to feed myself for relatively cheap. I’ve been learning from you such as getting store brand ingredients and looking at the price per ounce. Thanks for all that you do, I appreciate you
I really need to try doing a $5 dinner video and do that for a week for my family. It’s such a good way to get creative and save some money!
I hope this helps you and your family save some money. Thank you so much!💜

I just want to say that you are my hero! For someone who's not much of a cook and doesn't really like cooking like me ! Your easy recipes makes so much easier to get dinner on the table without all the stress of trying to over think what to make and less prep time. Easy and delicious 😋 Amazing.

Pre shredded cheese has starch sprayed on it prevent clumping.
Thanks again Julia, keep up the great work. I would like to ask again if you would teach/show how to make Tuna noodle casserole please. Thank you so much,
God bless you,

Made the Tamale Casserole. I used black beans and a half pack of Taco Mix low sodium- I didn't have cumin. Very yummy!! Thank you for these delicious economical recipes!
That’s wonderful to hear that you were able to make it to your liking. Thank you so much for sharing that and thank you so very much for watching💜😀
If I have a cup or so of leftover mashed potatoes, I often make shepherds pie. I make it almost the same way, but use a half pound of hamburger. I sometimes mix water and flour with the potatoes if I need more. It is a delicious winter comfort food that will provide at least 3 servings.
That’s a wonderful tip! Thank you so much for sharing that and I sure do appreciate you watching too💜💜
Hi Julia! I have two children that love to eat. Thank you for sharing these budget friendly meals.
Thank you so very much! And I’m happy to hear that your kids are good eaters too😉💜

That's another bunch of awesome budget friendly recipes thanks Julia !!
That Jiffy Taco Casserole looks amazing.

Could you put your recipe in the comment section if not I can understand but I looking for a homemade sauce that tastes really good😊
@@sandrahudziec723 This recipe is from America's Test Kitchen but I tweeked it and added onion or used dried basil... 1 small onion finely chopped, 1/8 tsp baking soda, 2 Tbsp olive oil, 2-3 gloves garlic minced, 3/4 tsp kosher salt, 2 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 28oz can crushed tomatoes, 1/4 tsp sugar, 2 Tbsp fresh basil coarsely chopped or 1 Tbsp dried basil....
1. add 1 tbsp oil to sauce pan. add onion and baking soda, cook until onion is soft. it will turn yellow which is a chemical reaction from the baking soda. this softens and browns the onions quicker than waiting 5 min or so, it is a great trick I learned from ATK, makes the onions melt into the sauce and add more flavor
2. off heat add garlic, salt, oregano and pepper flakes, return to heat cook til fragrant (30 sec)
3. stir in tomatoes and sugar. increase to high and bring to simmer.
4. reduce heat to med low, cover and simmer until thickened (20 min)
5. off heat stir in basil and remaining oil, season with salt and pepper to taste.
I do tend to cook mine for 30 min, I like a thicker sauce as we also use it on pizza and lasagna. It will stay in the fridge for about a week or so in a plastic container in the back of the ridge. Longer in a glass jar. Let me know if you try it and your thoughts. ☺
@@MsCharliesNails thank u😊
That’s awesome! Good for you. It is so much better💜
Great recipes, thanks for sharing! 😊
Love watching all your videos , very easy recipes and budget friendly. Only suggestion I have is to mince your meat up more into smaller pieces when frying it so it incorporates in the recipe better. So many big chucks. Only my opinion of course , people may like big chunks .
Thanks for the tip! And thank you so very much for your support🙌🏼
Thank you so very much for your great tips! I appreciate that🙌🏼
Thank you for giving me the confidence to cook Julia! ❤ I am so thankful I found your channel way back! (I think you were around 30,000 subs and look at you grow and grow!) So well deserved! 🙏💕I appreciate the budget friendly recipes.
I am so very happy that you found me too, Gina. Thank you so much for your loyal support here! And I hope you enjoy these budget friendly recipes💜💜
These are amazing Mrs. Julia uno when you have a big family these come in very helpful. Thank you for all you do for us. I really do appreciate you and your channel. Macie is getting so big and she is absolutely adorable.
Ugh! She sure is, Karen. She is so funny right now. I sure hope you enjoy these recipes and I really do appreciate your positive comment💜💜
@@JuliaPacheco You welcome Ma'am.
these recipes are a great way to stretch your dollar.
Fyi, fresh broccoli tends to be even cheaper than the packages! :) Also, i used to get the broccoli pieces instead of the florets but it seemed like every time i got the pieces there were a bunch of stringy and inedible pieces mixed in 🤢
Thanks for all of your work putting these together!
These are great ideas. We've been shredding our cheese and it really is a lot better. Thanks, Julia & have a phenomenal week! xoxo
Thank you so very much, Aimee💜 i’m so happy to hear that you’ve been doing that too and thank you so very much for your wonderful support!
These all look so good. Love a good budget friendly meal!
Thank you Julia. Enjoy your Sunday
Thank you! You too! 💜
I am old but never learned these skills...now I need them because it's not feasible to eat out much anymore! I'm very thankful for you, Julia!
Greetz from the 🇳🇱🇳🇱
I hope you enjoy those hotdogs! And try to stay cool this summer in the Netherlands. I sure do appreciate your positive response🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you so very much! You’re so right! Thank you so much for your support, Sherry💜💜
I've bought the broccoli cuts but they're mostly just stems and are hard so I went back to the more expensive. My local grocery store has chopped broccoli that isn't too expensive and that is my favourite! Great video, quite a few ideas are going through my head thanks to this video!
That’s great to hear that they have that for you there. Thank you so much for watching and I really do hope you enjoy some of these recipes🙌🏼
Thanks so much for your positive, and have a great rest of your day🙌🏼🙌🏼
Oh Julia. You never disappoint! I'm not a fan of rice but you've convinced me to try your recipe! Thank you ❤️
That’s awesome! Well I hope you enjoy this recipe and thanks so very much, Lissa💜💜
Just a quick tip, adding red or green lentils to the pasta sauce of the second recipe would add more protein to keep one full and make it a more balanced meal! I do this a lot and use up whatever veggies I have in my fridge at the end of the week
That is a great tip, Danielle. Thanks so much for sharing and I appreciate you watching
@@JuliaPacheco thank you! I am excited to try your tamale casserole recipe!
I saw some recipes i will be using. Thank you, Julia 🙏🏻 you seem like such a kind soul. And how sweet is your baby!!!
Thank you so very much! You’re so kind and I sure do appreciate your positive comment here💜💜
The amount of thought you put in this video is amazing! Always inspired by your videos. :)
I agree with you. I do like to shred my own cheese over packaged cheese. Thank you so much for sharing that!
Thank you Julia 💕
Wow another great budget friendly video! Thanks Julia you never disappoint! 💞🍃💞
You are so welcome! And thank you so very much, Linda
That is very true, Jane. Thank you so much for sharing that great tip and I really do appreciate you watching💜
Hey Julia I always look forward to your healthy budget friendly meals keep them coming they all look delicious 😋😋! Have a great day!
You’re awesome, Wanda! Thank you so much and have a great day🙌🏼🙌🏼
Everything looks tasty. Think I will start by trying the Tamale Casserole first. Already have everything in my pantry. Looks good. Have a great week.
That’s wonderful, Donna! I really hope you enjoy that casserole and thanks so much for watching too💜
All of those look so yummy!
The food costs here in Canada are so crazy now, five dollar meals would be impossible ☹️ But these are definitely great cheaper ideas! Thanks!
You’re so very welcome! That is what I hear from my other Canadian viewers to, but I’m happy to hear that my recipes may be able to help in the long run🙌🏼💜
