After i exhausted every avenue to get him out without lawyering up, i surrendered the apartment. After i got all my shit out, i checked in the next day and they told me he is refusing to leave the place. If it's been 9 years then the damage that happened would have no effect on your current credit score if you're in the United States, most civil debts are only enforceable within 3-6 years and the same goes for credit scores, it's called statue of limitations, after 6 years and after that time period the debt would be gone and any affect it had on your credit score would be gone too, now if it was a mortgage loan than it would be 12 years and if it was a government loan then there wouldn't be any limitations and you'd have that debt for life, if you got sued and had a judgement in your name when the statue of limitations is still only 10-20 years depending on the state and when the end is reached it's called "time barred" and is non enforceable, statue of limitations also applies to crimes depending on the state, in some states misdemeanor have a limit of 2-4 years of time before it can't be punishable.
So if I break into a house, don't do any damage, steal anything or hurt anyone I'll still be charged with breaking and entering but if I break into a house and start living there not only will i not be charged with anything but after a while I'll become a squatter and get certain rights over that house. Logic at its finest.

It’s not that simple. “Squatters rights” don’t really exist for the most part. What these people are doing is taking advantage of “tenants rights” which states that the landlord must go to court and have you evicted. The reason you can’t just call the police is because the squatter claims they are a tenant. They’ll often show some (fake) contract saying that they are allowed to be there. Squatter's rights are an extreme extension of tenants rights. If the property owner allows them to live there for more than x amount of days they can argue they're a tenant even if they haven't been paying rent. Tenant's rights are extremely important because its what stops your landlord from one day waking up and going "Hmmmm......... The market's a little sparse today... I could totally evict this asshole and sell his unit to somebody else for more money." They do way more than just that but it is what effectively stops a landlord from being able to ruin your life by making you homeless over night. Some people (squatters) will take advantage of this to gain free rent while the property owner has to sit through the eviction process over several months. About the part of squatters being able to gain ownership of the property, that's a process that takes over 10 years of the person living there to achieve. Basically the government goes, okay if you aren't taking care of your property but this person who moved in is paying all the bills and property taxes, we'd rather acknowledge their claim to the property than yours. Basically, if you want to prevent this you have over a decade to evict the person. Take any longer and it's clear you don't give a shit.
Few months ago 4 of my friends bought a house together. Yes, the housing situation is insane. Between the time of them buying it and moving in some squatter moved into one of the basement bedrooms. Their solution was inviting everyone over for a super loud Counterstrike Source Lan Party (unhinged I know, but everyone that still plays CS Source is clinically insane) that lasted 2 days straight. Squatter ended up breaking the bedroom window and crawling out rather than face 10 grown ass adults screaming at their PCs. Squatter might have escaped in the first 24 hours. No one noticed they were gone till the pizza guy informed us about the broken window lol
i always thought the idea of a squatter was so stupid like i get homeless people are a very large problem but instead of the governments actually helping them they just put the problems in the citizens hands by letting them be able to basically steal your home???
I lost my whole house and all my military uniforms, my music equipment and all my video games to squatters who were homeless and I was trying to help them. All squatters should go to prison.
To be fair, _most_ landlords do more than you'd think at first. I know someone who rented out their old house to tenants, they made sure to periodically keep the grounds clean, check for any gas or water leaks, ensure the electric was up to code and safe, and also allowed for tenants to contact them with any issues or questions they had. Their reward? A family of squatters that the whole neighbourhood hated, and it was so bad that even one of their daughters accused a childhood friend of mine of SA. They supposedly even went as far as mounting cameras up in trees and having feral kids live in the backyard. Where I live (in an apartment), the landlord arranges daily cleaners for the property, ensures that it looks good both inside and out, that emergency lighting works, they routinely inspect the sewage pipes to ensure they are okay, they ensure that the anchors at the top of the premises (again it's an apartment) are in good shape in case they need to be used. It's a lot of work to be a single landlord. It's pretty easy to just buy properties and pay people to manage them for you though. Now those landlords... I don't like those landlords.
I'd argue the issue isn't individual landlords. The business model itself lends itself to bad service and laziness on the part of the owner. After all, they have a captive audience and only a few regulations that need to be followed. Its very easy to basically just rent out properties and do no actual management. Or to otherwise provide bad service. It comes down to the fact that the customers cannot easily leave. So you can get away with more unscrupulousness than in other businesses where clients can just leave when they want.
The fact that you people think that squatting is completely normal and “lawful” is insane, imagine having worked hard to buy your own house, and then a random stranger just comes in and lives in your house without permission, now they have rights and can take over your house and you can do nothing. Is this the “common sense” Americans boast about??

this makes me wonder like how tf do people who need to travel a lot deal with this? u forget tolock a door and its over u have a new roomie in your kids bedroom? huh
squatting a vacant building that is only vacant so the owner can price gouge? that's great and like an act of resistance. break into a tenants home and refuse to leave while the tenant pays rent? pretty sure that's not squatting in my country, that's just trespassing, and the person would be removed by police.
the real origin of the Andy name was because Andy Milonakis would be a regular guest of Ice Poseidon's stream and the chat started naming all the stream snipers Andy
I mean to be fair, most squatters aren't as insufferable as this lady. A lot of them really do take over practically abandoned properties and actually maintain them
Nobody deserves to be homeless but the concept of legal squatting is moronic. If a stranger is in your property and refuses to leave you should have the right to use force.
Some countries acutaly agree with you! Someone entering your house could be seen as a life threatening situation, making it legal to physicaly defend yourself. Should be the standard imo
I feel as if this was more used for abandoned houses or houses unoccupied for very long periods of time , not places that were used by others as an AirBnB. Still think they shouldn’t be a thing because of people like this who abuse the laws.
@@JohnFKennedy313yeah, that is the actual purpose of squatter rights, it was made so homeless people can occupy houses that have been long abandoned. But the problem here is that its being weaponized by home invaders. And the law itself was written too vaguely, so it gives these home invaders/squatters some leeway to justify their squatting.

no darkwood yet weird hair man lied
Bro this is the most entertaining shit I've seen in a while, the interactions between them are gold
Yo, I used to watch your videos as a kid. Didn't think I'd see you here.
Omg you are the anime on crack guy situation is actually insane
its almost like its scripted for entertainment
i was keeping up with this WHOLE series with the squatter situation i truly recommend watching the whole series its HILARIOUS
"Trying to break down someones door isn't a crime?" Had me dying bro 💀💀💀
🫡 thanks for your service and fuck them squatters, I wish for you good future
No squatters rights are a thing for a reason
@@dillonqaphsiel7977If they can be easily abused then they should probably be changed.

The problem is not individual landlords with a few properties. It's the mega corporations buying up hundreds and thousands of properties en-masse.
Pyro’s hairline got cleared out faster than that squatter
You do not spark joy
I’m genuinely confused his hairline looks good to me
I don't think anybody on this channel understands what a hairline actually is. Like how Mr Burns doesn't quite understand what sideburns are.
The mind blower for me is that people liked this comment?
What flag is that?
This is almost as crazy as the darkwood video
This was highly entertaining, watching unhinged streamers try to make shitty people go crazy is definitely top tier content lol
The fact that you people think that squatting is completely normal and “lawful” is insane,
imagine having worked hard to buy your own house, and then a random stranger just comes in and lives in your house without permission, now they have rights and can take over your house and you can do nothing. Is this the “common sense” Americans boast about??

Asmon said it right: an Unstoppable Force meets an Immovable Object
Making a temp/low cost home/shelter for the homeless:🤚
Making a law where kicking out squatters breaking into your home is illegal:👍
"The best way to deal with squatters is preventing them from moving in" And this is from a Sherrifs Department.
And Americans wonder why the world is laughing at them.
this makes me wonder like how tf do people who need to travel a lot deal with this? u forget tolock a door and its over u have a new roomie in your kids bedroom? huh
squatting a vacant building that is only vacant so the owner can price gouge? that's great and like an act of resistance. break into a tenants home and refuse to leave while the tenant pays rent? pretty sure that's not squatting in my country, that's just trespassing, and the person would be removed by police.

Squatter's rights shouldn't exist. You can't take someone's stuff, even if they aren't using it.
And the law itself was written too vaguely, so it gives these home invaders/squatters some leeway to justify their squatting.
squatters rights either need to be revised or revoked to prevent horrendous situations like this
Asian andys videos are actually some of the best content ive seen on youtube in a while
Bro this is such a crazy saga actually good coverage of this situation

its a complete joke that squatters have any rights. Give them 2 weeks notice and if they don't gtfo the cops should arrest them.
That Reddit post at 29:55 is wild. Do people not know what the word 'naked' means? Still not as wild as the squatter situation but Redditors are so dumb sometimes. The whole story is insane!
The assault and harassment should be enough for a restraining order/order of protection, no?
