Totrooper72 Agreed! It was different and they still kept the memory of Jason alive in it! Loved the scenes with Tommy. John Shepherd is a fantastic actor!
The hockey mask in this film has blue markings on it instead of red ones, foreshadowing that the real killer isn't Jason at all. The hockey mask used during the opening title sequence is of a different style, with different markings, than the hockey mask used in parts III and IV. This is a prophetic clue to the viewer that the man behind the mask is an imposter. Although "Part V" appears on all promotional material, it does not appear in the actual film. The opening credits simply read: "Friday the 13th: A New Beginning." This is the first film in the series where Jason is actually referred to by his full name: Jason Voorhees. In Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981), and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), he is only referred to as Jason, while he is not referred to by name at all in Friday the 13th Part III (1982). Coincidentally, Deborah Voorhees shares her real surname with Jason.
It’s one of the most heavily flawed movies in the franchise but it’s by far one of my favorites. I love Roy Burns, he was a kickass pseudo-Jason. I only wish the kills weren’t censored so heavily by the MPAA. Ethel is a scene stealer everytime!! 😂😂😂
The only reason Jason X was ever made was because Freddy Vs. Jason, which Jason Goes To Hell was made as a set-up for back in 1993, was still in "development hell" and had not gotten made and too many years had gone by since Jason Goes To Hell's release.
During that time it made sense to make this one. The public hated on the first four thinking it was going to make copycat killers out of the youth. Thus, this movie happened. I like it to be honest. It's got Harry Manfredini, high body count, creative kills, a total surprise killer like the original, total 80's. It's a great slasher if you don't think of it as F13 movie.
It’s definitely a Friday the 13th movie. Each part (I-VIII) in the original Paramount timeline picks up immediately where the last left off. Some chapters are better than others. But Part V was great.
In my opinion, best Friday the 13th!!!
Wow, most hate on it.

That mask looks so clean.
This film aged like a fine wine in the horror genre. Huge Friday the 13th fan and it’s objectively one of the best in the franchise.

This aired in Spokane.
I LIKE ROY CAUSE I THINK HE DID HAVE A HIGHER KILL COUNT

Who is the man in the back ground talking?😊
Don LaFontaine.
Well, Jason wasn't in this one it was a copycat.
